《Fated To The Alphas》Chapter 10 - Trying

Looking out the window of Jonathan's car, I feel at peace but at the same time confused. I feel his eyes pierced on me even though I know they must be on the road. Three minutes in counting of this drive, I feel like I'm in a very long destination flight, like the awkwardness of this drive is amazing. I decide to change that " Jonathan are you okay?"
"I'm fine thanks Lucy how about you" he say
"I'm good too thanks"
Silence quickly creeping right back and I decide to take things in my own hands.
"So what do you do for a living?"
"I am a ceo of a tech company" he says
"Really!?" That shocks me because he looks like a business man, when I say business man, I mean someone who might be a lawyer or something else just not something to do with techs.
"Yeah, what did you think?" He asks looking all amused at my confusion
"I thought you were a lawyer or something like that" I say smiling shyly at him
"Nope, been a geek all my life so I focused more on building tech instead" he says with so much pride, not the cocky type but *the I managed it* type of pride.
Our drive consisted of us talking more about tech stuff, which isn't a problem for me cause I love tech. After some time driving we reached the hospital.
"Thanks for the ride Jonathan, I really enjoyed it" I say as he pulls over
"Its my pleasure" he says
"Would it be okay with me driving you home as well?" He asks with those puppy dog eyes that Jaylen and Jack have, though the only difference is the color.
"Yeah it's okay with me, as long as it won't give you any trouble..." I say, I don't like troubling people or being a bother.

"You would never be a bother" he says with so much truth to his word. He then flies out of his car and rushes to open my door.
"You know you don't need to do that right?" I say
"Lucy this is the way I am, and I like doing it for you so."
"Okay and thanks again for the ride" I say as I walk away. Not looking back I keep walking but come to a halt when I realize I didn't even get his number. In case I need to tell him when I'm done. I don't like making people wait for me. I turn around to find he's gone. Maybe I can just tell Jaylen to inform Jonathan.
————-–————————
Today has been busy, patients and all. I and Jaylen have barely talked today, he has been busy, like I said today has been a busy day. I sign out, change my clothes and get going. I'm so tired it's so overwhelming to even think about it. Walking through the doors of freedom, i spot a familiar face, its Jonathan leaning on his car like a complete god typing on his phone. He looks up and our eyes connect, right there i feel some kind of way, like me being overwhelmed just ran out the window.
"Hey lucy"
"Hey Jonathan.." i really wanted to tell him that he didn't have to come but seeing the smile on his face, my mamma taught me better than that!
When I finally approach the car he opens the door and guides me into his car and puts the seat belt for me. Which I never asked for, but for some reason I refrain from stopping him, like something is stopping me from reacting towards this man. When he gets into the car he fires up the engine and we drive off to the main road.

"How was your day?"
"It was okay i guess, but really tiring and yours"
"Mine was just fine, got a new client today, so that's a bonus" He says
"That's great Jonathan, I'm so happy for you" I say as I smile widely. Him being happy funny enough makes me happy.
"So Jonathan are you dating?" I really felt like I should ask just in case some other person is all over him, which really just the thought of it gets to me. Like I have no right to be Jealous, but my feelings say otherwise.
He first looks at me in a face I would say points to disbelief "no, why would you ask that?"
" just didn't want to make anyone jealous if you had a partner I mean" I say clenching my hands, which I didn't even notice I was doing.
~
We suddenly stop outside my place "Thanks for the ride Jonathan" I say unbuckling my seatbelt
"It was nothing" he says while looking directly at the road
"Would you like come in?" I ask
"No that won't be necessary"
Why would he act like we didn't just drive home together. I get out the car and he drives off which is weird but hey that might be just how he is. I'm too tired for this right now.

The Blackgloom Bounty
In the dark days before the end of the first millennium, Scotland (or Scotia as some called it) was a leaderless hodgepodge of tribes, clans and warring factions all bent on the same thing--domination of the land. Wizards, sorcerers and magicians still plied their trade, though much of their power had given way to the machinations of men and their war machines. To the south of Scotia lay the realm of the Saxons ruled by Ethelred the Unready and his ruthless minions. To the west, Ireland had just come of age. Everywhere else the constant threat of a lightning swift Viking incursion loomed over the land.Growing up in this lawless world is a displaced Daynin McKinnon, heir to an ancient familial keep on the island of Rhum. He and his grandfather Ean scratch out a living amongst the Saxons, careful never to divulge their clan heritage. That all changes when Kruzurk Makshare chooses Daynin as the ideal prospect to help him bring down a vile sorcerer named The Seed of Cerberus, ferreted away in his impregnable fortress at Blackgloom. Little does Kruzurk know that in so doing, he will launch young Daynin, himself and others on a vast, dangerous quest that no one could have foreseen. *****One Hollywood producer has dubbed this three book fantasy epic from Jon Baxley as, "BRAVEHEART meets THE LORD OF THE RINGS." Real places, people and events flesh out this fast moving, multi-faceted semi-historical series but fear not fantasy readers. There's more than enough of the magical, mystical mayhem you have come to expect from great fantasy. Romance readers, too, will enjoy the 'spice' in these characters--and there are a lot of them--both human and otherwise. And if you're into Viking lore, this series certainly is for you. When someone asks the author about his series, he answers with, “There were far more surprises in this tale than I ever expected and it's not over yet!
