Erebor. It was lovely once it was rebuilt and decorated. It looked anew and it was as busy with life as ever. You quite honestly, thought you would never see the city in its prime.
You had been on that journey so long a go. That journey to reclaim a homeland, and slay a dragon. You had been one with the company and now, one with the people of Erebor. The dangers you had encounter had forever left a mark I your heart and you didn't know if it would fully heal.
To get off that sad subject you looked at the dress you had sprung over your bed. It was long and red. It had little gold patterns around the waist and neck. You found it absolutely stunning. Why was there a dress strung over your bed? You had to attended the choosing of Prince Fili's wife.

You had fell for the dwarf yourself while you were journeying across Middle-Earth, but he never seemed to return those feelings. It saddened you at the fact. Now, you would have to stand back and watch the dwarf you loved, marry someone else. At least, it was just the choosing of a wife. There would be a ball, dancing, and most importantly wine.
***
You had thrown on the dress and walked out of your chamber. You done you hair and felt ready to take on the world. You made your way through the busy green marbled hallway. Soon the large -heavy- brown doors marked your destination.
You smoothed a hand over your dress. You held your head high with confidence. You were not going to be crying about today. You exhaled and with one foot after the other, you swung the doors open.
The ballroom tools your breath away. You put a hand on your chest as you took in the sight of it. Your mouth agape while you slowly walked in.
The entire floor was coated in gold! They had chosen the room Smaug had been drenched in liquid gold in, to hold this gathering. The columns were painting white and the ceiling was white as well. The hardened gold had made little splashes on the stone. The lights for the ceiling nearly brought tears to your eyes. They were large and extricate chandeliers. They were beautiful! The tables throughout the room were marble green and the food and drink table on the outskirts of the room were made of stone.

"Fith one today y/n," you looked at the familiar voice who knew your name. It was Fili, you hugged him on sight.
"I didn't know you greet your guests at the door," you said pulling away from him. He shook his head.
"Me neither," he gave a nervous chuckle," you look beautiful tonight y/n, if I may say,"
"Thank you Fili, " you blushed," so how goes the wife making?" You joked.
"Rather terrible, I must say. Most of the female dwarves who are suggested to be my new wife, I have found hardly likable," he confessed to you.
"I should imagine that's hard for you......you'll have to pick one of them," you assured him albeit sadly. He looking in your eyes for a moment. You saw some in his eyes that he would let his face show. Was it sadness? Desire? But for what? And for who even?
"....it is," he said after a moment. You stood there in comfortable silence with him. You felt bad that he was having to go through with this. Who wants to marry someone they don't even love?
Suddenly the doors opened and in scale a pack of pretty female dwarves. They lurched toward Fili when they saw him. You were disappointed that they didn't acknowledge the beauty of the ballroom. With a grunt you head over the the drinks table and eyes the red wine that called your name.

The festivity went on and you had met up with some memorable faces. Most of the company had showed up and you couldn't help the tears that followed when you saw them. They were the only family you had. You all had made a little group at one of the green round tables and share stories and tales.
"So who do you think Filibis going to choose?" Orc asked any of the dwarves at the table.
"No clue. I must say, I hope he doesn't choose all of the lasses, I need one for me!" Bofur exclaimed and the surrounding dwarves laughed. You have a fake laugh of your own and stared into your almost empty wine glass.

"Whoever he chooses, I hope she makes him very happy," you said after the dwarves quieted down.
"Aye lass," Dwalin agreed. He stared at you like he knew something you didn't. Regardless, you gave a thankful nod.
You put your gaze on the dwarf of interest. He was standing and talking rather quickly to his uncle. They were all perched on green thrones at the head of the room. You saw Fili pinch the bridge of his nose. Then he turned and raised his own glad of wine. He brought a silver knife to it and it clanged, grabbing the attention of the entire room.
He coughed clearing his throat, "I suppose you all know why you are here," he gave an awkward laugh and you grinned a bit at it.
"I Fili, son of Dis has had the honor of selecting a new pride and ultimately princess of Erebor," the crowd cheered and quieted as he went on to say more.
"To get this festivity done with I would be honored to go ahead and say who I ham chosen," he said and everyone listens. You could practically hear the girls swear and their father give excited chuckled at the thought of their daughter marrying the prince. You felt like you were going to be sick. You liked down at your hands so you didn't have to watch.
"It is with great respect and honor that prince Fili have chosen a wife. And she is-" and it was that moment when someone bumped your chair and you lurched forward. You hand knocked your wine all over the table.
With a glare at the man who bumped you," fuck off!" He utter small apologizes as you had just cursed out loud for all to hear. You grabbed some napkins on the table and hastily started dabbing at the liquid.
"Her!" Fili pointed at you. You were confused when the room was silent and all eyes were turned to you.
"What?" You said serve my confused. You looked up and saw Fili pointing at you with a smile.
"You, y/n," he repeated. You stared blankly at him.
"Me? For what?" If you were getting kicked out because of your outburst, so be it.
"For my wife. And Princess," he said happily and you moth dropped to the floor. You gasped.
"R-really? You're not joking are you?" You put a hand on your chest. He nodded silently. Your hands were getting shakin as you stood there staring back at him.
"I-I..." You didn't have words.
"Come on up here y/n, I don't bite," he laughed. You shakily walked past crowds of people. Some of them ones who you guessed to be the fathers were angry, but they kept quiet. You finally made it to the stage and Fili took out his hand. With a blush you slowly took it. His warm hands engulfed you and you didn't feel so nervous anymore. You had him.
"I have chosen y/n, as my wife and I will not regret a single day that is shared with her," he looked in your eyes. You couldn't believe it. The love, happiness, and joy you felt was overwhelming and it came out in the form of tears. He wiped them away. With sudden courage you closed the distance and kissed him on the lips. You heard the crowd cheer and applaud as you passionate moved you lips of his. He kissed you back with the same force. You pulled away slowly.
"I always wanted to do that," you panted looking into his eyes.
"Me too," he said as he pressed his forehead to yours. You realized then that he loved you. He had always love you.
