"I can't put my finger on it, I don't know it's weird, It feels like I've known you my whole life."

"Come in" East shouted lowly, as Aubrey made her way through the door.
"Good afternoon" Aubrey spoke in a cheery tone. There was something different about her, she didn't have on any makeup, and her freckled skin glowed. She wasn't the first beautiful girl to walk into 1 Av, and she wasn't going to be the last.
Taking a seat in the chairs across from East, she crossed her legs. Her glitter louboutins flashed, and he couldn't help but wonder what nigga cut her off and forced her to get a job. Bitches loved handouts.
"Aight, did you fill out the tax questionnaire that Reek emailed you?" Nodding her head quickly, he eyed her.
"You don't speak? I need Yes' or no's" East mugged her, as soon as she caught him, her face mirrored his.
"Yes, I speak and yes, I filled everything out." Handing her ID and Social security card over, she watched him "Don't try to steal my identity cause ya girl got good credit" she smirked, earning a chuckle from him.
"I haven't had a reason to steal shit in about 6 years. You ain't gotta worry frecks." Grabbing the paper from the copy machine, he turned to look at her. Licking over his bottom lip, he handed her belongings back over, along with a 1 Av name tag.
East sat down on the table, this time so he was closer to Aubrey "Reek usually go into depth with this, but lucky for you he's not here, imma sum it up. You can wear what you want, just don't walk in here like you going to King of Diamonds." He probably wouldn't be mad if she did.

"It gets busy in here, don't fuck up. I run things the way I want to, if there is a problem, feel free to walk out at any time. Today, you're going to work with Tommie and Danny for a couple hours, show you the ropes." With a flick of his hand he dismissed her, Aubrey face lit up, the gesture was something her father did often — her whole life she hated it, it was rude to dismiss someone in that manner, but this particular time it made her happy. Aubrey quickly stood up, walking towards the door, turning on her heels.
"In the most friendliest, employee to boss level. You smell really nice."
Aubrey left his office to see Tommie and Danny standing at the counter talking, the rain outside probably kept the people from coming in.
"Oh bitch, you pretty." Danny smiled at her, his flamboyant ways made her love him already, plus, his face was beat for the Gods. "Thanks baby, you are too. I'm Aubrey, but you can call me Bre." She shook their hand.
"I know, we're supposed to train you but, there really ain't much to do. Everyday we just make sure the clothes are folded, and where they need to be, these customers can be annoying as hell. We just put new clothes and sneakers out. I can show you the register when someone comes in, so that way it makes more sense and you can do hands on. When it's dead, it's always the best time." She smiled as if she summed all of it, switching the Pandora station on her phone Bickenhead being the first thing to play.
East walked out his office shaking his head at and Danny. "Hell nah, I'm not paying y'all ratchet asses to twerk. If you wanna shake your ass go apply for the damn club" He grilled the two, Tommie rolled her eyes turning her phone down.

"You ain't gotta pay me at all, if you just give me one night" Danny whispered lowly, making both Tommie and Aubrey laugh.
"Speak up Danny, I ain't hear you. Tommie the one thing keeping you here." He walked over to the door watching the rain.
"East, I know you only trying to fire me cause an Employee and boss relationship is unprofessional. I'll quit for you. Give me the word" East side eyed him, chuckling. East comfortable enough with his sexuality to not take anything Danny to heart. He also knew it was just jokes.
"You gassing it, the only thing that want you is this bullet, got a special gold one with your name" lifting his shirt up a little he showed the black gun.
"You treat me so special." He laughed, hiding behind Tommie. Aubrey was definitely going to like it here.
"Um, is Reek gone be at the club tonight too East?" Tommie raised a brow, looking over at East with hopeful eyes. Her crush for Reek grew more every day, and he was one of the reasons she wanted to work at the store. After her job at Forever 21 she swore she would never work in retail again.
"He should be, that nigga gone be anywhere where there's Hennessy. He should be on his way back now." Looking at the time on his watch, Aubrey eyed it.
"Patek Philippe?" Aubrey bit the inside of her cheek, waiting for an answer.
"What you know about these watches Hollywood?" He smirked at her, making her blush.
"My father always told me grown men wear Patek, Rolex are for little boys." She chuckled remembering the day he gave her the insight on watches. He talked for what seemed like hours. She would kill to hear him talk all day.
"Baby girl, if your father got money like that what you doing working in a clothing store?" Danny came from behind Tommie, leaning against the counter.
"I wanted a normal life." That was the easiest excuse to go with, then trying to explain that her father wanted her to get out of New York for good, and she didn't know why she had to leave in the first place. Sending her with suitcases, 4 million dollars and four pieces of paper that she has yet to read. The odds weren't in her favor.
Why didn't her mother stop him from making her leave? If he loved his baby girl so much, why didn't he want her around anymore? She had no problems with doing adult things. If this was the lesson he was teaching her.
"Well baby you crazy as hell, I'm in debt and you talking about a normal life? You tryna switch, cause I'm ready to give up this job. No offense to 1 Av of course."
"Don't listen to him Bre, he crazy as hell. Question, would you like to come with us to the club tonight? We're all ubering so we can get drunk as hell." Tommie laughed, "Yes girl, yes. A night out is more than needed." Aubrey was making friends already, and might've even found her new husband. She looked around for East realizing he was no longer in her presence.
Well, let's have fun.

After the End: Serenity
We all want to believe we are heroes of our own story - unless we want to be the villain, of course. At the end of everything, the Final Reaper decided he hadn’t been a hero. Driven by a desire to right the wrongs he was subjected to, he killed everyone who wronged him or his people - which turned out to be everyone that wasn’t killed by someone else first. He'd won - but it was a hollow victory. Eventually, Order’s Voice found a way out. If the only existing being would agree to give up most of his power, the Voice could reset the multiverse to an earlier time with a few minor changes. Of course, the Voice couldn't ask it that way. It could only ask if the Final Reaper was willing to start over from when Earth was first brought into Order. It was an easy decision, and yet it wasn’t. Was he willing to go through eons of pain again to not be alone? Yes. In a heartbeat. Not that his heart beat anymore. Now it would. Perhaps he could even be a hero, this time. When he landed in his old body - more or less - on Earth, the Final Reaper once again became Thomas. He was both and neither. He needed a new name for a new life. Serenity. ------------------------------------------ While this is technically a System Apocalypse story, it's a System Apocalypse that is designed to have a large percentage of the population survive and prosper. There are a lot of problems that come with the appearance of the Voice, and it's entirely possible to lose. Earth has some special opportunities, but also special challenges. The first time around, Earth won the first round and lost the second. Serenity has ten years from when the Voice arrives to prevent that from happening. It will be a group effort; Serenity can't win alone - which is difficult for someone who's been alone for as long as he has. Of course, that's only his second priority. ------------------------------------------- Updates Daily A note on the nonhuman lead tag: He isn't human, and hasn't been human for a very, very long time (or maybe not long at all, depending on how you count it). He still thinks of himself as human, either way. The content warnings are mostly to give me room to write; this fiction is not intended to be edgy, but once in a while a character will swear or someone will get seriously injured. The cover image is a Chandra/Hubble composite image of VV 340 / Arp 302 / UGC 9618. While we're not going to space itself any time soon in the story, people from elsewhere are coming to Earth and Serenity will visit other planets. Plus, I like space imagery. Burning Tears
Two opposite universes, one with human beings born into great destinies filled with magic and supernatural powers and the other with divines; creatures only exist to serve the universes of humankind. Will the two worlds clash or it would exist within one another peacefully?-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nadine called the waiter and eyed his moving body from the far end of the restaurant until he noticed her. He nodded his head and walked toward her. As she put a polite smile on her face; something shiny caught her attention. It wasn't clear but for a long second, she thought she saw a set of eyes floating in the air looking deeply into her soul. She was about to talk when suddenly the waiter appeared before her eyes forcing her to blink fast. She looked up at him, smiling again and then ordered two carbonara dishes and chicken Caesar salad. "So... what happened in Dubai?" Camellia said, trying to get her mind to stop overthinking. "Nothing happened," Nadine said, smiling. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Burning Tears is copyright © 2020 by Nouran Eidarous.
