Part two

Victoria was staring at the paper intensely as if waiting for inspiration to hit her. For a girl who's good with words she sure didn't know how to start a letter. She just wanted it to be perfect.

Dear Gilbert,

I hope you're doing well, from what I've heard it seems that you're enjoying your time away. Un-

"Morning Vic, what are you writing?" Hamilton said as he entered the kitchen and startling Victoria's peace. She quickly hid the letter from his view, a habit that she has always had. "Nothing special." She replied, watching Hamilton unpacking the bag from food that he just bought.

Hamilton came back home for a while since Benedict and Caroline went on a small vacation. He could afford to spend his time back in Avonlea since he finished his studies, only taking the exams a month before and still waiting for the results.

"Are you writing to your Romeo? Or is he your Heathcliff now?" Hamilton snickered as he referred to Victoria's latest obsession, Wuthering Heights. "How about neither? Romeo dies and Heathcliff is just wonky." Victoria said, folding the letter into two.

"I don't know, I didn't read it yet." Hamilton continued. "You should. My favourite was Edgar Linton, I think we have some things in common. I too wouldn't know that my loved one was dying because I was so busy reading." Victoria said, causing Hamilton to laugh.

"Aim for the stars, sister. Is Edward still asleep?" He asked as he leaned against the wall, apple in hand. "No, he went to the Barry's. Mrs Barry came to pick him up so that he can spend time with Minnie May." Hamilton wiggled his eyebrows at that. "Looks like he made a friend-friend. Both my younger siblings love life is blooming and then there's me."

"I said this before, Gilbert and I are not in love. Besides, maybe the reason for not having a love life is that there's something wrong with you." Victoria mocked. "Shut up, tosser," Hamilton interjected although he was still smiling.

"Also, another letter from Gideon arrived. Why haven't you responded yet?" Victoria asked. His smile fell in an instant. "No reason." He said vaguely. "With all the letters he's been sending it seems as if something is wrong. Maybe you should reassure him, it looks like he's worried." Victoria said as she watched Hamilton pocket the letter.

"Or maybe you should stay out of it!" Hamilton snapped, suddenly bothered by his insidious sister. Victoria was taken back. He barely uses the tone of voice with anyone and especially not with her. "Fine. Forget I asked." Victoria huffed as she grabbed her own letter and left to go to her room.

She expected Hamilton to call out and stop her but he never did, making her feel angrier. When she did arrive at her room, she went to continue writing the letter but not before taking in a few deep breaths in order to calm down.

Dear Gilbert,

I hope you're doing well, from what I've heard it seems that you're enjoying your time away. Unfortunately, nothing out of the ordinary has happened back her except for my brother is an absolute wanker. The audacity of that man! Snapping at me like that just because I asked him one harmless question.

Leaving that to the side, I really am happy to hear that you're having fun on your worldwide adventure but I would be happier if you were back here. School is currently closed due to the harvesting but we'll start soon. I can't bear the thought of starting without you one again. That and I in no way want to see Billy the Numpty.

Anne, Diana and the others are all doing well, by the way. Oh and Ruby misses you so much. Let's say that I've grown tired of hearing how beautiful your eyes are when little of the sun hits them. Can't say I disagree though.

Forever and always,

Your Victoria

After finishing the letter Victoria placed it in an envelope, wrote the address of the steamer and stuck a stamp. She decided to go to the post office and send it away immediately, maybe she can stop at Anne's. As long as they didn't stay there at her house. Victoria can't put her finger on it but she definitely thought that there was something dodgy about Nathaniel and Mr Dunlop, the two men who were currently lodging at Green Gables.

Call it a sixth sense, if you will.

Hamilton's hands couldn't stop shaking as he went to open the letter from Gideon. Although he wasn't responding to any of the letters, he read all of them. He knew that he couldn't ignore the man forever, after all, he technically still lived with him in their place at Charlottetown.

Dear Hamilton,

I see you still haven't responded to any of my letters. It's alright though, I'm not angry at you, not at all. Although I do agree on giving you space, I do have to remind you that you have to face me sooner than later. I hope its sooner but I know that you'd prefer the latter. Ignoring a problem won't make it disappear if anything it only makes it bigger. The longer you deny it, the larger it will grow until one day it will just explode, making things a hundred times worse.

I do apologise for my actions. But I must admit that I'm not entirely sorry. I shouldn't have kissed you, I'm sorry for making things uncomfortable between us. But I know for a fact that the reason you're ignoring me is not that you unwelcomed the show of my affections but because you don't know what to do and how to deal with it.

It's not easy, I understand. It wasn't easy for me either. And I'm not pressuring you to do or admit something which you don't feel or believe in. I just want you to talk to me so things can be clearer and so that I can help you. I won't force you, don't worry, I'm not that kind of man.

Even if you don't want to speak of any of this at least send me a message that things with you or your family are going well. I hate to think that something bad has happened to you. Please, don't ignore me. Think before you act because I honestly and truly do miss you.

Rwy'n dy garu di,

Gideon

Hamilton breathing increased when he finally finished the letter. Frowning slightly at the situation he was in and the incomprehensible words in Welsh.

He really should talk to him, he knew that. He should go face to face to tell him that what happened was a mistake and that they should forget about the whole ordeal. He needed to go soon, at least before the harvesting which is a few days away.

At that moment he heard the front door open and he quickly rushed downstairs.

Victoria arrived after spending some time with Anne, Ruby and Diana and then went to pick up Edward.

"Maybe he's in a bad mood," Edward said in a whisper as the two took off their shoes. "We probably shouldn't bother him, he might not want to talk to us." Edward continued, feeling confused and a bit hurt.

Quickly, Hamilton faked a smile to greet his younger siblings. "Cheerio, I have a treat for you. What do you think of going to Charlottetown?" Hamilton asked. He noticed from Victoria's discombobulating look that she didn't expect his current behaviour.

Edward, on the other hand, paid no mind and started jumping up and down excitingly. "Yes, please! I barely ever went there. Why are we going?"

Hamilton fumbled with his words a bit before coming up with an excuse.

"I-um- I still have some important things that I need to bring from my place there and I may find some things that would be useful for harvesting. I thought that we can create an adventure out of it all."

Victoria nodded. She was nowhere near excited compared to Edward. It seems that she had seen right through his fake smile and noticed his fumble. He should have known, no matter how great an actor one might be Victoria was smart enough to see right through the façade. "When will we be leaving?" She asked.

"I was thinking tomorrow, at eleven. I know that its a bit last minute but we would only be leaving for a day anyway." Hamilton admitted. Edward was beyond thrilled. "This is wicked! I'm so chuffed, we can call it the Edwards adventure, no parents edition." Edward explained. Victoria finally let out a smile at her little brother.

Victoria stared intently at Hamilton, her gaze so intense that it was making him sweat. She knew that he was hiding something. That the spontaneous trip was about more than he let on. She just needed to be clever enough to figure it out.

She suddenly smiled which caught Hamilton off-guard by the change of emotions.

"You're right Edward, it'll be fun. I can't wait what we'll find out during our adventure there." Victoria stated as she picked her words carefully.

Hamilton won't ever admit it out loud but he couldn't deny that his sister could scare him if she wanted to.

Guess who's back... back again...

And this time not after months of being away. Meryl Streep, who? I deserve an Oscar for not taking for fucking ever.

I've been writing a lot throughout this week. This motivation might end as I'm gonna start working for the first time ever next week, though. Wish me luck, peeps.

Also does anyone know how one is supposed to study French and pass?

Anyways, back to the point. I hope you guys liked the chapter, nothing special happened but that's mostly because it's a setup of what's going to happen and all that jazz.

Thanks for listening to my TED talk.

Au revoir xx
