《Sweet Child of Chaos》Promises and Ice Cream Cones

As I stand, surrounded by dead bodies, I realize how fragile the human is.

Kisa had called for her adopted 'triplet' as soon as they got home, making the older Petrova look up from the Grimoire with a gentle expression on her face as she stared at her reflexion.

Amara uncrossed her legs from underneath herself and ran up to her somewhat sister as soon as she saw the blood covering every inch of her body, hands hesitated before she took Kisa's on her own and tried to look for any injuries, making the corner of the vampire's mouth twitch upwards.

Kisa knew she wasn't hurt, but she let Amara check on her anyways. It had been a while since anyone had done that.

She couldn't remember the last time Katerina had done that.

Katerina... the survivor who also died.

Amara finally questioned with a frown on her face as she couldn't pinpoint where the blood could have come from.

there were few times when the blood was actually hers.

She knew it because she always became fascinated by the vermilion hue as it painted her olive skin, until it was nothing but dry blood, covering a place where there was no longer a cut.

Her smile grew when she noticed how Amara exhaled deeply, muscles relaxing before a soft smile grew on her mirrored features.

She could never see a piece of Katerina in Amara and that caused her relief, it wasn't like when she let her hair grow and stared back in the mirror, watching as the image of herself swirled and swirled until it became that empty vessel that was her twin.

She was fascinated by how Amara could maintain her innocence after so long in suffering, she almost questioned herself if she and her twin were simply defective clones of the original Petrova.

If their hearts were always rotten, even in their mother's womb.

She could not even fathom the amount of darkness that would have corrupted them if they were to change places with the original Petrova.

Two thousand years of ethereal pain, with no one to talk to, not a single feeling, except for the ones of others that shared their deaths with her, being an anchor for so long could have broken her, turned her into a monster, but here she stood... one of the most innocent and warm people she had ever met.

She didn't even notice how her eyes had softened as she stood staring at Amara until the brunette started to fidget, nervously tugging a strand of hair behind her ear as she avoided looking at Kisa's intense eyes.

The vampire suggested, giving her an easygoing smile, that made Amara relax instantly as she quickly nodded, following after her into Kisa's room as she started to look for clean clothes for the woman as she went to the bathroom.

Amara by now could say she somewhat knew Kisa's style, she liked to observe the vampire as if she was an older sister, always watching out in amusement and interest as she learnt each day more and more by following after Kit's steps.

So when Kisa left the bathroom and nodded at the outfit that was placed on the bed for her, Amara couldn't help but look down at her feet with a small smile and blood rushing over her cheeks, feeling a little proud of herself.

The question blurted out of her lips before she could stop herself, making Kisa turn around to face the red pepper that became Amara with amusement dancing on her hickory orbs.

Kisa told her triplet, her lips flickering into a grin as she remembered the conversation with the duo after they finished the massacre of the hunters.

Amara questioned softly, eyebrows furrowing in confusion, since it was something that she could hardly see Kisa letting pass.

It made the vampire laugh a little as she took her purse and offered her hand for Amara, who didn't even hesitate in taking the hand that was a few moments before covered in blood, as they left the house.

Kisa answered as if she hadn't done things way worse over the centuries of her existence

Her voice bright and playful as she gave Amara a small smirk, it made Amara smile back before her nose scrunched up as she thought

Nodding, Kisa looked forward, spotting the ice cream parlor a few meters away from them and tugging on Amara's hand excitedly

Amara made an 'oh' with her mouth softly, grinning along with Kisa as the vampire practically skipped with her over to the parlor, gaining a giggle from the sorceress as they got inside.

Kisa couldn't help but look at Amara with a little anticipation, rocking back and forth on her feet as Amara looked around at the bright and colorful place completely mesmerized.

Soon, her warm brown hues found the multiple flavors of ice cream and Amara run to them, only stopping because of the glass that stood between them.

She looked like a child

And for the first time ever, Amara heard a sweet, almost angelic laughter that fell from Kisa's lips. It was different from the small chuckles she would sometimes let out.

At that moment she wondered if maybe Kisa wasn't a fallen Angel, she couldn't help but stare in wonder.

Kisa replied with her honeyed voice, affection clouding her eyes like and making Amara grin, feeling like she had received a long hug just by the deep emotions running behind those dark irises, but just as it came it was gone, hickory eyes staring empty, with a coldness that made Amara shiver as the vampire stared at the attendant

As the man stared emotionlessly back at her, repeating the words robotically, she made him leave them alone and walked around the glass, starting to serve herself and Amara some ice cream.

At Kisa's contemplative face, Amara couldn't help but giggle, accepting the colorful cone the vampire was offering as she ate with a stars in her eyes.

Amara nodded immediately, looking seriously at the vampire who was looking over the window with a dark expression on her face

Kisa said as she turned her eyes from the window to stare deeply at Amara

And Kisa was not a believer of promises, whenever someone made one for her she would always see them break them, but in that moment...

She didn't know if if was because of her faith in Amara or if it was the conviction in her words added to the Petrova fire, burning strongly in her eyes, but she believed.

She believed that Amara would never ever leave Kai alone.
