《Helpless (Lin-Manuel Miranda x Reader)》The Video
Advertisement
The video was everywhere. Which meant the showcase was a success, so that was good... but you didn't really feel like it was.
A bunch of people who had attended the showcase were videotaping, something that you had been completely oblivious of. And they decided to post the video on their social media and anywhere they could.
The theater thanked everyone who had participated, because they had had double the people audition for the show the next day. You were excited, until you watched the video.
You both did a really good job. You and Lin were both really strong singers and great actors, so it really seemed like you were Vanessa and he was Usnavi... until the kiss. It was very, very, obvious you had stopped acting.
, you text. Even though it wasn't.
A few seconds later, you get a reply.
"Convince her"? Does that mean that it wasn't? Why is Lin so confusing? Why can't you just be straightforward and ask him?
You bite your lip. Should you ask him if it really was stage kiss? You really wanted to know, and maybe if you knew, it wouldn't torment you anymore.
But you couldn't. You couldn't. You didn't want to jeopardize your friendship with him.
You leave your apartment and get into the elevator, nervous about going into the busy streets of New York City. Every video of the showcase had a lot of views. What if someone recognized you?
You begin walking down the bustling street, and sure enough, after about a minute, a random person walks up to you and says, "Hey! You were in the showcase, right? You and your boyfriend were really good."
Crap.
"He's not my boyfriend," you reply, feeling uncomfortable.
"Really?" The guy who stopped you looks really confused. "But at the end, you guys were totally-"

"Thank you, but I have to go," you say, then rush away, knowing what he was going to say.
You were stopped multiple times after that. Everyone either thought that you and Lin were dating or married, that you were in love, or that you both forgot about the play and were just focusing on each other. You lost count of how many people you had to correct. Only the last one was half true.
In the evening, you sit down at in a Starbucks with a vanilla latte and send a message to Lin.
You both were carefully avoiding just what those people had said when they talked to you.
You sigh and turn off your phone, then put your head in your hands.
"Y/N?"
You look up and see Vanessa, Lin's girlfriend.
"Can I sit?", she asks.
"Yeah, of course," you say cautiously.
She sits down in the seat across from you. She hesitates before she says, "Do you like Lin?"
Panic hits you. Why would she think that? You don't. You very clearly, obviously don't. He's just a guy friend. A friend who's a guy. And he'll always be your friend. "N-no, I don't. Why?"
"Well, it kind of seemed like you did after watching the video of the showcase at the theater."
"We were just acting. And we're both good actors," you say, trying to sound confident and nonchalant.
Vanessa raises an eyebrow. "That's what Lin said, too."
"Because it's true." You were starting to get frustrated. She was Lin's girlfriend. That meant he likes her too. It doesn't matter if someone else likes him- he likes her.
"But it kind of seemed like Lin liked you too," she says, looking deep into your E/C eyes.

You laugh.
"What's so funny?", Vanessa asks, a bit annoyed.
"Just the prospect of Lin liking me. He definitely doesn't. He likes you. You're his girlfriend for a reason," you reply gently, hoping not to get on her bad side.
"I know, but..." She looked away. "Can you ask Lin if he likes you?"
"Of course he likes me. We're good friends."
"You know in which way I mean. Do you have his phone number?"
"Um, yeah."
"Then text him."
"Right now?", you ask in surprise. Was she really that unsure that Lin likes her? And that sure that he likes you?
She nods, and you slowly take your phone out of your tote bag and open up Lin's contact. You hesitate before typing. How could you casually ask if he likes you? "Hey, do you like me? I don't really want to know, but your girlfriend is forcing me to ask you"? Yeah, that would be perfect.
, you type, then show Vanessa.
"That's fine. Just send it," she says.
You close your eyes and hit send. Why, why did Lin have to come to the theater at that moment? Your theater group for "Into The Woods" had been on tour, and Mexico was the last place you had been going. A translator had taught everyone Spanish, and you actually did pretty good. Why did Lin have to be there on that day? Walking down that street? And why in the world did you go with him?
After a full minute of awkward silence, your phone buzzes, and Vanessa looks at it.
She pauses. "I guess you were right," she says, and your heart feels like it was just hit with a wrecking ball.
Vanessa sighs. "I'm sorry if I went a little crazy. It just made me kind of jealous to see my boyfriend kissing another girl." She looks at you. "But thank you for proving that I didn't need to be worried."
You nod, and she stands up.
"See you later," you hear, but you feel trapped in a daze. And this time, it wasn't a happy one.
Once you can shake yourself out of it (just a little bit), you look at your phone.
So simple, yet it made you feel like it should be raining outside. That everything should look as grey and dreary as you felt.
But why did it matter so much? Deep down, you knew, but you didn't want to admit it to yourself. You couldn't admit it.
You hear a buzz, and you glance down at your phone to see another message from Lin.
Should you tell him the truth- that Vanessa had wanted you to ask him? Or should you lie? But what would your lie be?
You let out a pent up annoyed breath, then type,
You had wanted to know.
Before you can even think of a good lie, he says something else.
Dang. How did he know?
About a minute after you don't reply, Lin texts you again.
You get up, put your evil, trouble-making rectangle (your phone) away, then walk out of Starbucks.
Why does your life just keep getting more complicated?

Trials of a Magic Core
He was brave, and noble, and true. He was also a hunk of crystal floating in a magical circle, brought into existence by the self-styled "Greatest Magus of All Time" to be his personal intelligent magical encyclopedia, filled with every minutiae of the arcane this Magus could stuff into it, all ready and accessible at a moment's notice. But is simply knowing all there is to life? Can he strive for more? Should he? (Writer's Note:) I'm a pretty new writer, so expect delays, errors, inconsistent logic, plot holes the size of a small 4-wheeled vehicle, and a distinct lack of snark. At least from the MC. Also, yes, the cover is an image I made in paint. I have...NO artistic skills. It is a placeholder. Also, I came up with this idea in the shower after a nine-hour RRL binge. SO BEAR WITH ME.

But parenting? There was none. Yet a struggle nearly every member of the Races is not foreign to. I...must have lived under a rock. Across aeons no less. What a humbling revelation.

The Villain's Double Life
“The Villain’s Double Life as the Hero’s Mentor," “Demon Nobles Want to Live Too: A Hero-Raising Simulator for the Transmigrated Villain," “Just Because I’m a Villain Doesn’t Mean I Want the World to End!” Cyrus Calvide was the second son of an aristocratic lord; haughty, vain and power-hungry. One day, when his ancestral inheritance manifested, he discovered he was able to steal other’s powers and abilities using demonic magic. Taking this as a sign that he was destined to rule over others and become the new king of this land, he poisoned his father, killed his elder brother, and embarked on the path to greatness, taking advantage of a demonic invasion to consolidate power and harvest the abilities of others in a cruel and bloody fashion. Until he was summarily defeated by the Hero as a mid-game boss battle and executed for his crimes, of course. When a dedicated fan of the RPG “Next to Eden” awakened in the body of the cruelest future Count, four years before the beginning of the game, he pledged to live humbly. He would let his brother lead and support the Hero from the shadows to ensure the demon invasion would be defeated and he could enjoy life in peace. Rather, he would have, if he hadn’t gotten the Hero’s mentor killed in a freak monster attack before the Hero’s training could even begin. How was he supposed to live a life of peace and luxury if the Hero couldn’t stop the end of the world!? Donning a mask, Cyrus took up mentoring the Hero himself; how hard could it possibly be? . . . Four years later, the kind jack-of-all-trades hero Leon had become a twisted powerhouse: alienating his party members, clearing enemy encounters in a single magical blast, and coldly ignoring the affections of the girl whose love would have allowed him to clear the final boss. He seemed to have plastered himself to his Master’s side, instead. Cyrus bit back his despair while the hero reached out to grasp his hand. “Please stop ignoring the saint, Leon; you can't beat the Demon King by grinding stats! You need the power of love, remember?” “Don’t worry, Master,” Leon smiled as he traced the lines of Cyrus’s palm gently, almost reverently. “I have all the love I need.” VDL is two parts plot and worldbuilding, one part slow-build gay romance, starring a man far too proud to admit he's in over his head and the hero who loves him. Should be updating weekly.
