《Insane》Chapter 2

I was freaking paranoid. I was on edge all the time, as if he would suddenly jump out from behind a corner or something. A few times, I could've sworn that I saw something out of the corner of my eye, but as soon as I turned to face it, It disappeared. I figured it must just be aftermath from the shock, but a small part of me didn't believe that. The same small part that almost kept me up all night wondering about what exactly he meant. I came to school safely, though, and walked over to my locker. Suddenly, someone hugged me from behind, and I freaked out, thinking he'd found me. I relaxed when I recognized my best friend Tara's voice.

"What the hell are you doing here? You were attacked for fuck's sake! You should've stayed at home!" I turned around to face her.

"Look, I can't afford to miss a day. Especially since I don't want to fail math."

She rolled her eyes "Goddammit, Alice! How would one day affect your grade at all? I mean, you have straight A's in math, anyway." I took my books out of my locker and walked to class. I really hate math, but I really need to get a good grade in this subject. Tara sat down next to me, and our teacher, Mr. Walter, came in. He began the lesson

"So, class, today we'll be revising--" He spoke but I couldn't listen on, since I had to ask Tara something.

"How'd you know about what happened, anyways?" I whispered.

She gaped at me. "Are you kidding? I'm sorry, but since this is, like , the first crime in a decade, it was all over the local papers! Everyone knows by now!" I mentally face palmed. Damn. Attention. Just what I need. Note: sarcasm.

"Excuse me, Miss Edwards, do you have something to share with the class?" My teacher asked, addressing Tara.

She blushed. "No, sir."

I really don't believe that I would've missed out on a lot if I had missed school. Mostly revisions. I didn't tell Tara the real reason why I didn't miss school that day. The truth is: I didn't want to be alone.

I was still paranoid about what he had said. "See you later, little girl." I had chills run down my back every time I thought about that. I was afraid he knew where I lived. He could attack me every time I was alone at home. I came home, walked into my room and did my homework. I heard my mother come home and, since it was pretty late, I decided to go to sleep.

I was alone. All alone. Except for him. He was chasing me, with his knife. I managed to get away from him, but ended up in a dark, dark room. I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched. Watched. Watched. My eyes snapped wide open. I still felt as if I was being watched, but by whom?

"Miss me, little girl?" No. No. Please...NO! I almost screamed, but I felt a hand on my mouth. I looked up to find myself staring into the same, insane pair of eyes that I had seen the night before. Why? How did he find me? "My, my. That face doesn't suit you at all." He frowned, then grinned insanely again. "Might I suggest.......a little smile?" He raised his knife and I winced as he, ever so slightly, traced a smile on my face with the tip of his knife. He chuckled darkly at my fear, then quickly raised his head as he heard my mother walking down the hallway.

"Alice? Alice, are you alright?"

He looked at me once more, and grinned. "I'll see you again, little Alice." He jumped through the window, leaving me in my bed, bursting into tears.

"Alice?" My mom came into my room. "Why are you crying?"

I looked at her. "I-its....nothing....just a bad dream, that's all." I laid back down, and just as I fell asleep, I swore I could hear a dark chuckle coming from outside my window.
