《Whodunnit ?》Chapter 32 - The Final Ride

Michelle & Reynold woke each other up the next morning. They each retired to the parlor to play a game of pool.
"So who do you think is going to survive ?" It didn't take long for Michelle to bring up the topic of who was going to be the next person killed.
"Well since I think Nelsons the killer, I'm pretty sure he'll survive. I'd be very surprised if he was killed." Reynold made it no secret that he thought Nelson was going to survive. He felt bad for Brianna, as he was pretty confident that she was going to be killed.
It didn't take long for footsteps to be heard on the staircase in the direction of the great room. Michelle & Reynold both eagerly waited for the mysterious person to appear. Michelle even almost snapped the pool bar from the pressure she was pushing against it.
When Brianna strolled into the parlor, both Michelle & Reynold's mouths hit the floor. Did this mean Nelson was dead?
"Brianna! How are you?" Michelle was the first to greet the Olympian.
"Well let's just say that I'm glad to be alive!" Brianna was all smiles as she talked to her former alliance members.
"We all know what that means though..." Reynold paused for effect.
Brianna looked around uncomfortably. For all, she knew she thought that Nelson was dead. And that meant that her closest ally was gone. Over her time in the game, she really learned to trust Nelson, and now that he was supposedly gone, she didn't have anyone left that she could really trust. Plus she did think that someone on the other side was the killer.
Suddenly, just as the three guests were starting to celebrate being the 'final three', Nelson strolled into the parlor. There was a mixed reaction, Brianna was happy to see him as she knew she still had her best friend around, however she was sad at the fact that her safety was no longer guaranteed. Reynold was happy for a different reason, the doctor was just happy that he was still practically correct on his guess of Nelson being the killer. As the charity worker was very much still alive, and there was still a chance he could have been the sinner.
Michelle remained neutral however, she had come to accept that at the end of the day only one of them would be alive. And as much as she loved the remaining three, she knew she had to prevail if that meant throwing one of them under the bus or not. The redhead was pretty sure that Nelson was the killer but then again, Brianna being the killer often crossed her mind. Being an avid watcher of the Olympics, Michelle knew that she didn't recognise Brianna. What if it was all a hoax? What if Brianna lied about her occupation so that she could fly under the radar and not become a prime suspect? She was honestly torn between the two. However, she knew that even Reynold could have been the killer since everyone had a motive. Everyone.
Brianna, just like Michelle was suspecting everyone at that moment. An idea even crossed her mind the night before that Giles could have had something to do with the murders. Maybe even the maids as well. They were always too quiet in Brianna's mind.

After breakfast (which was served in the parlor instead of the usual dining room.) the guests all waited eagerly for Giles to arrive. Undoubtedly to present some sort of riddle or clue. Eventually, Giles did appear. He had one single card held in his right hand. Every guest made eye contact with the card before Giles raised the card to his eye level.
"Brianna, Nelson. Outside you will find two limos. You must each get into one. The limos will take you on a short journey, however at the end of the journey, only one of you will return to Rue Manor. And compete to make it out of the Manor with your life intact and win the $250,000 prize. Please say your goodbyes to Michelle & Reynold, as for one of you, it will be the last time you see them alive."
Worry quickly set in for Nelson & Brianna. It worried them that after a simple limo ride one of them would be dead. They each worried how they could have died in a limo, and they hoped that the death would be quick and painless. But knowing the majority of the killer's techniques, that wasn't normally the case.
"Goodbye, guys." Brianna was the first to say goodbye. And gave Michelle a big hug. Before the split of the group of four, they were both very close. And Brianna did regret them not being as close in the last few days.
"I don't want to jinx it. But if I don't see you again then I'm really sorry. I'll get vengeance for however killed you." Michelle whispered secretly into Brianna's ear as they held their embrace in a hug.
"Ok." Brianna peeped back while still embraced in the hug.
Brianna gave Reynold a quick handshake. She wasn't as close to him as she was with Michelle. But she admired what he had done for the alliance before they turned on each other. She knew if it wasn't for his medical research then they might not have made it this far, so she admired him for that aspect as well.
Nelson was the last to say goodbye. He wasn't exactly as close to Michelle as Brianna was but he still respected her as a player. She had had a few best case statements and she had brought some good ideas forward during the riddles, so he thanked her for that. When Nelson got to Reynold, he gave him a quick handshake. He didn't really want to talk to who he thought was the killer. He was thankful that the doctor helped lead the alliance, but as of today, it was everyone for themselves. There was no alliance now.
Brianna & Nelson eventually made their way to the limos at the front of the manor. Giles was waiting at the front door to see them off.
Before climbing into their respective limos (each had the guests name labeled at the side) the two friends embraced in a hug.
"I'm going to miss you. Even if I die or not." Brianna sounded remorseful as she held the elder man in the hug.
Nelson, however quickly cut off the dialogue.
"Shut up"
"Excuse me?" Brianna said in a shocked tone.

"I've got a plan...they are going to drive us out of here right? Well if they then that means that we are going to be re-introduced to civilization. Even though the windows are tinted, there's got to be something in the limo which we can hit against the window to break them. Then we can flag down a cop car or someone to help us. And then hopefully it won't be too late before that." Nelson kept his voice low so that Giles couldn't hear from the door. He knew that Giles would have probably alerted the killer somehow. as he knew Giles was being ruled by the killer as well, and Giles' life was also in the balance.
Each of them gave small smiles to each other before climbing into their limos. They were going to try their best to survive. And get everyone out of the manor, even the killer.

Nelson was pleased to see that there was an alcoholic beverage inside the limo. This wasn't his first time in a limo, so it wasn't a surprise for him to see the long, black l-shaped leather seat. There was also a flat screen TV which was the size of the back wall of the limo, which was something he'd seen in a limo before.
He was thrown into his seat all of a sudden as the limo sped into the direction of the gates. Brianna had the same experience as her limo followed Nelsons. However, once the two guests were out of the gates and on the streets they knew something was wrong. The two of them could hardly focus on civilization as once the tv flickered on, the A.R.K.O.N logo was revealed. After that, a small dot (which was labeled as the limo) was shown, quickly traveling towards an unknown marker labeled 'destination'. It quickly clicked in their minds that just like in Greg & Dan's murder, a pre-planned route was made. Brianna even broke the front cover to see how there was no driver even driving the limo. When she went to go reach for the wheel, a note quickly hung from the glove compartment saying 'Nice try'.
For the next five minutes, Brianna & Nelson tried to flag down passengers of cars which were passing by, but to no avail. With each minute that passed, they each get more and more nervous, as the 'destination' marker was more slowly and slowly approaching.
Eventually, the two contestants saw what the 'destination' was. A massive, open cliff. A massive 300ft drop separated the top of the cliff to the bottom.
"Oh no!" Both of the guests exclaimed as they peered helplessly from their window seat.
It was at this moment that the two limos lined up next to each other, each speeding 60mph towards the open cliff. Both guests clung onto their arm recliners tightly, hoping that their limo would not go over the cliff.
However, for the pre-determined doomed guest, they got to have some clarity before their death. To distract them, the TV flickered again. The killer's face was all that was shown, the mere sight of the killer sent the doomed guest into a stunned silence. The blank expression of the guest was creepily chilling, after a while of staring into the unforgiving eyes, the doomed guest got goosebumps all over their body. However before they knew it, the limo had sped off the cliff edge and started to plummet to the ground. A blood-curdling scream was all that came from the limo just before it hit the ground. An inferno of flames quickly blew out of the limo as it exploded with a heavy impact. The tenth guest had been killed.
-
Forty-five minutes after Brianna & Nelson set off out of Rue Manor in the limos, one single limo returned to the gates, twisted around the driveway and gently parked. The sound of the engine alerted the once slightly bored Reynold & Michelle. Both of them each hopped off their seats in the parlor and charged for the front doors of the manor.
It took a long while for the guest to climb out of the limo. The shock of what had just happened was overtaking the guest's actions, the fear was coursing through their veins. However, they eventually put it to the back of their mind and climbed out. Because the guest got out of the far side of the limo, Michelle & Reynold could not identify who the guest was until the limo suddenly sped away, and they saw the guest on their knees on the floor. Looking mortified.
Nelson could hardly move as Reynold & Michelle charged in his direction.
"Nelson! Oh my gosh are you okay?" Michelle rushed to the charity workers aid as she tried to fling his arm under her shoulder so that she could stand him up.
"What happened?" Reynold sounded shocked too as he and Michelle finally stood Nelson up from the floor.
"They...they drove her over the cliff." Nelson stammered his words as he continued staring at the same spot on the floor he was looking at when he was on his knees.
"That's terrible! I'm so sorry. She didn't deserve that." Michelle was devastated that her once good friend was murdered in such a horrible way. She saw it as one of the most excruciating deaths, knowing how Brianna would have been helplessly falling in the sky before the fatal impact.
"My dear guests..." Giles suddenly appeared at the front doors of the manor.
Each of the final three looked up in Giles's direction. Feeling slightly terrified as of what was going to happen next.
"Your upcoming challenge you are about to endure will be your last here. At the end of it only one of you will live. Take a look around at yourselves guests... one of you is the killer. The person that you are making eye contact with has murdered ten of our guests." Giles reminded the guests of how morbid and unforgiving the killer had been during the entire game.
"Michelle, Nelson, Reynold. Our final three. Please follow me." Giles said the last sentence in a cold and tense tone, almost as if he was a ghost.
The final three all gave eye contact to each other before they followed Giles inside the manor for another time. Nothing could have prepared themselves for what would transpire next. Nothing.
