《A Dragon Rider's Element》The Beginning Of The End ( 44 )

I waved goodbye to Kyra as the others and I walked out of the Ancient Library. The hot desert heat greeted us harshly when we opened the door. The blistering sun blinded me before my eyes could adjust to the sudden light.
Abruptly Athena's large form come into view and blocked the sun and casting a cool shadow over us.
"Welcome, back rider", Athena greeted.
I smiled and walked up to her. She lowed her nose and nuzzled me. I held her large head in my hands as I hugged her back.
A loud thud drew my attention from Athena back to the old library door. The wooden door had closed on its own once all of us had exited. Then the old door crumbled into pale yellow sand.
Ty gave the order to mount up and we all did in almost perfect sync, the expectation being Roy who kicked off the ground a little too hard and fell off the opposite side of Aurora.
We tried to hide our laughs as Roy tried to mount again. Luckily, this time he didn't fall off.
With all of us on our dragons, Ty and Raikou jumped into the air. We all followed in suit.
With Ty leading us we made our way to the place I always dreamed of going. The one and only Disney World.
I use to beg my father to take me there. However, he was never willing to take me. It's a place for children, not young ladies like yourself. We have a reputation to keep and I won't have you ruin it he would always say to me.
As a child, I gave up on my hopes to go but I still wanted to go. Going now should make me happy inside. Yet as we near Orlando my heart grew heavy in my chest, knowing who we would meet there.
Athena seemed to sense what I was feeling as she tried to comfort me.
"Everything will be alright, Larisa. You don't have to worry."
"How can you be so sure?"
"I have faith."
"Faith?"
"Yes. In you, and the others of course, but I know you will do great. That's why I chose you as my rider."
"But I'm not nearly as strong as Ty or even that smart. How can I?"
"True strength doesn't come from lifting weights. True strength comes from lifting yourself up when the worlds determined to keep you down."
"Where did you get that one from?"
"Nowhere that was all me. But in all seriousness, I know you are strong. All that's left is for you to see it too."
I went quiet as I pondered her words. Before I knew it serval hours had pasted and the desert heat had long since faded and was replaced with a cool ocean breeze as we crossed over the Atlantic.
I flew closer to the ocean and shut out my hand to feel the cool waters. The strong beats of Athena's wings created wake lines behind us.
I couldn't help but giggle as water droplets doted my face.
I was soon joined by Raikou and Ty by the ocean's surface. He smiled brightly at me as he flew by my side.
Playfully I guided Athena closer to Raikou nudging his wings with Athenas'.

Ty laughed at me before smirking playfully at me.
He gracefully ball rolled over me and Athena and glided softly on the other side of us.
I raised my eyebrows at his wordless challenge.
Athena accepted his challenge by shotting up high into the sky in one mighty flap from her wings.
We flew straight up and stalled falling back down in a corkscrew motion.
When we stopped Ty and smiled and shook his head.
"That's nothing."
Raikou opened his wings and was pulled back by the wind. It happened so fast that I lost him and Ty in the clouds.
I turned my head left and right looking for them but I only saw the others and white clouds.
The confused was shook from my face as I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jerked at the sudden touch and looked up to see Ty hanging off his saddle with one hand while Raijou was flying upside down.
Ty let go of Raikou's saddle and dropped onto Athena back behind me. Smiling cockily at me.
"This seat taken?"
"Yep", I answered before kicking off Athena's back, Raikou catching him instantly.
I had to find a way to top him. I had nothing until I looked down at the water. Watching the waves gave me an idea.
I steadily Athena out and slowly moved my feet up into the seat of the saddle.
" I wouldn't do that if I was you", Ty warned.
" I got it", I called back.
"I would listen to him if I was you", Athena chirped in.
" I got this", I repeated.
I held onto one of Athena's spikes for support as I slow unbent my knees. The wind pushed back against my body.
I was almost up fully when Athena shifted a little making my foot slipped off the side of her neck causing me to fall.
The wind whistled around me as I fell threw the clouds. I couldn't stop myself from screaming as my hair blinded me. Making this so much worse.
Before I could hit the water someone grabbed my waist and pulled sideways. Giving me a bad case of whiplash but I didn't care.
I was placed in someone's chest as a hand reached up and move my hair out of the face.
When I could see again I wasn't surprised to see Ty holding me.
"I guess I repaid that favor, huh?"
"That was terrifying", I said as held onto tighter to him.
"Don't worry I'd never let you fall."
"You better not", I warned.
He laughed and continued to hold me.
" I told you not to stand up", Athena laughed.
"You planned this didn't you?"
" I will never tell."
I flew the rest of the way with Ty and Raikou although it wasn't that long before we reached Orlando by the time we did it was around 2 am.
So the park was technically closed but to 4 teenage and a 900+ guy who easily sneak past security guards along with 5 dragons nothing is really ever closed.
With our expert map man, Roy, we easily found our way around and it didn't take us long before we found the doors to the underground tunnel system.
After a far too long conversation to Ty about how he couldn't kick the door in because of the guards, Alex picked the lock with one of Blue's scales.

With a soft click, the metal doors swung open to reveal a long dark tunnel that could easily fit three semis.
Ty put his right hand on an elective box in the corner with a few sparks from his fingers the tunnel lights flick on.
We began our descent into the tunnel.
Our footsteps echoed off the cold contrite walls of the tunnel. The dragon's claws catered against the floor created an eerie tension in the air.
Athena tried to walk on the heels of her feet, but she wasn't as graceful on the ground as she was in the sky.
She tripped over her feet multiple times to the point where she stopped trying to be quiet altogether.
We kept walking our eyes searching for anything that might lead to Zeref.
Ty had explained to us that Zerefs's base would be farther underground than the tunnel went, but the entrance would be somewhere in the tunnels.
We saw nothing that looked like an entrance to an evil overloads tome. After what felt like forever and we had still found nothing Jason spoke up.
"Are you sure this is the right place? There's nothing here and we can't look any harder", He groaned.
" Maybe it's because we're looking too hard?", Roy spoke up.
"What do you mean?", I questioned him.
"Well", he started scathing the back of their neck nervously," There are a lot of workers that are down here during the day. If the entrance was visible to them they would have found it. We are dealing with a wizard guy maybe it's a spell."
"That is true. Zeref wouldn't want random people finding him", Ty agreed.
"So how do we find it if it's spelled?", Alex asked.
"We can leave that to Raikou.", Ty smirked as he patted the yellow dragon's shoulder, " He's has a nose better than any blood hound. If there's magic he can sniff it out."
Raikou wasted no time as he began his search. He put his a large head in the air and breathed in deeply. Once he was satisfied Raikou turned around and walked back down the tunnel. We followed the yellow dragon down dark the tunnel.
It was far before Raikou stopped and pawed at the wall of the tunnel. Ty got the message and sgainled us to get back.
Ty opened his hand and aimed at the wall. A burst of lighting exploded from his hand and crashed into the wall.
The light faded and on the wall now stood a two horn-like objects that were just as tall as me stood parallel to one other. In the center was what seemed like a red and black, black hole.
"Well that ain't ominous, Is it?", Alex shrugged.
"Only a little, a bit", I added.
We all wordless study the wall. We all seemed to come to the same conclusion.
We had to go in and are dragons couldn't fit.
"It will be alright, Larisa. We'll find a different way in."
"Are you sure? I don't want to leave you."
"Yes. The others and I will reunite with you when we are needed. But you must promise me you will be safe."
"Only if you are."
"Deal."
Athena nuzzled me and I hugged her larger head, while petted her bright red scales.
She let out a huff and blew hot air in my face. I laughed and kiss her head.
The others said their temporary goodbyes to their friends.
After we ended our embrace and faced the dark patrol.
I reached my hand out and touched the swirling black and red trills. They were an eerie cold that froze me to my core. The sudden contact made me gasp slightly and pulled my hand back.
Ty placed his hand on my shoulder and gently pulled me back.
"I'll go first."
"No objections, here", Alex said throwing up his hands.
Ty walked up to the patrol and walked in casually, unphased by the cold or eerie sight.
Roy reluctantly followed him then was followed by Alex.
Leaving me and Jason.
Jason looked at me and smirked.
"See you on the other side, sweetheart."
With that, he jumped into the black and red patrol.
With a final glance behind me at Athena, I smiled at her and enter the patrol.
"Good luck, my rider."
As I enter the black patrol the trills seemed to grab me a pulled me down. All I could see black. I lost all sense of direction as the overcoming cold chill me down to my bone.
This feeling eminently reminded of Lazuars's shadow travel. It was the same icy feeling and all I saw was the same endless black shadow that preyed on my warm.
The black void of shadows vanished as the light of a dimly lit cave I now found myself in shatter the black trills.
My eyes adjusted to the dim light. I should saw the others stood around me in a circle waiting for me.
Ty nodded at me before speaking to us.
"Let's go. We need to find Zeref's body before he finds us. We had the elemental of surprise with us for now, but this place will be full of the strongest dark creature Zeref has created."
"Like how strong we talking here? Like level 10 or... what?", Alex questioned cautiously.
"The planet-destroying strong, so I'll say like level 100 at the least", Ty said staring down the dark cave.
"I'm sorry did you say planet-destroying kind of strong?", Jason asked bewildered.
"Zeref's plan is to destroy and rebuild the world in his image so he could be a worshiped as a god. If he is to do that he needed monsters capable of terraforming the world to his vision and this is where he would keep them."
"It sure is sunshine and rainbow with this guy, isn't it?", Alex grunted.
We began our long walk through the dim cave. It was eerie quiet.
All we heard were our footsteps as we walked, but we all stopped when another pair of footsteps joined ours.
The light pitter-patter got louder as it got closer to us.
"Please, don't tell me that's one of the strong dark creatures you were talking about early.", Roy said wearily.
Ty said nothing as he summoned his spear.
We all did the same.
Pitter-patter grew louder and the creature turned the corner and my heart dropped.
"Aww, it's so cute", Roy cooed.
