It was eight o'clock this morning.

Dad was at work,

and you paid me a visit,

pleading to take me to the movies.

The time frame confused me,

but you were really eager.

Putting on clean clothes while you waited,

I made sure to grab my bag

before following you to your car.

I turned on the radio.

Blank Space turned on,

and I couldn't help but laugh.

you pouted,

but I only shrugged,

and continued grinning.

This made you grin too,

and it wasn't long before we made it to the theater.

The only things playing

were a few horror movies,

an action movie,

and a chick flick.

Beyond all odds,

I didn't want to watch anything scary,

or action packed

or gory.

"which movie do you want to watch"

you asked,

and I pointed to the chick flick.

"you for real"

you asked,

and I nodded,

batting my eyelashes.

Grudgingly,

you ordered two tickets for the movie,

and after grabbing some snacks,

we went inside.

It was empty,

which wasn't really surprising.

And then the movie started,

as cliche as it could be.

It was funny,

and I couldn't help but laugh.

I looked over to you,

expecting you to be laughing too.

You always proved me wrong, though.

You were staring right at me,

a small smile lingering on your lips.

"do I have something on my face"

I asked,

but you just stared at me,

eyes quickly glancing at my lips.

I frowned,

you leaned in,

and my breath caught.

You're barely an inch away.

You were going to kiss me,

But you didn't.

Your fingers brushed against my lips

before you showed me something.

"you have a kernel on your lips"

I blushed,

feeling humiliated,

before turning back

and watching the rest of the movie.

I could feel you looking at me,

but I kept my eyes forward.

And soon,

I was sucked back into the

humorous cliche of the movie.

It was hilarious,

and I almost forgot about what happened earlier.

Almost.

The movie ended soon,

popcorn and soda finished.

We were heading to your car,

smiling and talking,

and before I knew it,

you were parked outside my house.

"i had fun"

I said,

grin brightening my face,

and you nodded.

"me too"

Leaning towards you,

I wrapped my arms around your neck

and hugged you.

"thanks for this"

I whispered

"you haven't been much of a bastard lately"

I laughed quietly

before unwrapping my arms from around you.

But you held my arms.

"wait"

You stared into my eyes,

probably trying to apologize

without saying anything.

But I couldn't read eyes that well

and you knew that.

Well, at least I thought you did.

But then you did it.

You kissed me.

On the mouth.

I didn't know what to do.

Your lips were chapped

yet warm,

but I was too shocked to respond.

You were kissing me.

Me,

of all people.

And then you pulled away.

"elliot i"

I cut you off.

"why did you"

My fingers grazed my lips.

Tears stung my eyes.

"elliot, i really like you"

You held onto my hands,

eyes staring deep inside me.

Tears streamed down my face.

"i like you elliot, and i'm so sorry for what i did"

"i was a jerk and an asshole to you.

and i just hope that one day you'll forgive me"

I was shaking now,

mind reeling

and thoughts in disarray.

"i need to go"

My voice wavered,

but you still held onto me.

"elliot, i'm"

"i need to go"

I said louder,

but you ignored me.

"please, elliot"

Without pausing for another second,

I ripped my hands out of yours and slapped you so hard

that a red mark was left prominent on your cheek.

Before you could say anything,

I scrambled out of the car.

"elliot"

I cut you off again

"please just stop, nathan"

My voice was barely audible.

"i need to think"

And just moments later

after slamming his car door shut,

I was in my house,

back sliding down against the front door.

Why is this happening?

Why did that kiss feel

nice?

Why did I want more?

Why were you playing

with my emotions?

You were confusing me.

You hurt me.

Why do I feel this way?

Sobs racked my body.

I have a headache now.

But it's fine

it's fine

I don't know why I'm feeling this way,

but I'll be fine.
