I lay in bed,

eyes fixed on my ceiling.

I heard muffled voices downstairs.

I rolled on my side,

You held up my sweatshirt.

I licked my lips,

staring at you with furrowed eyebrows.

I repeated.

You both nodded.

"i'd rather not"

I said,

throat tingling,

but dad didn't take any of my crap.

he said.

It was quiet

before you cut in and said

"it'll be fun"

You stared at me expectantly,

and a hopeful smile lingered on dad's lips.

I could've said no to my father.

I could've ignored his persistence

and marched my way upstairs.

But I knew that as soon as I left them both standing here,

things would only get worse between us.

But I didn't want it to get worse,

because things were actually looking up.

I didn't want to lose dad again.

So I nodded.

"okay"

And as a grin stretched across both of your faces,

I shoved past you and slipped on my shoes

before grabbing my jacket.

I followed you outside.

When we got closer to your car

and further away from dad,

I said,

"you're still a bastard"

But you only nodded

and then we got in your car.

The drive took almost ten,

fifteen minutes.

You had taken me to the mall.

"you still like french fries"

you asked

as we entered a fast food restaurant.

I shook my head.

"i don't like food anymore"

I muttered,

but I guess you just ignored that statement.

"after you try these fries, you'll fall in love"

Looking at your cheerful face,

I told you

"i'm not hungry"

It was silent for a while.

Your expression turned sad.

"can you just try at least one"

your voice was almost desperate

and I pursed my lips.

"i'll just have a few carrots"

The sudden smile that bloomed over your face

was contagious.

But I forced myself to stay neutral.

"that's a start, isn't it"

you said.

And so we ordered those fries and carrots

and you were right.

After tasting a few carrots,

I couldn't help but try those fries.

They were delicious.

And in that moment,

I forgot all about me losing weight,

and just talked,

like we did back in junior high.

And as you said another one of your horrible jokes,

I thought

I'm fine

I'm fine

I'll be fine.

| Some of you probably released a breath of air when you saw this update. But guys, This Is Where It Ends is a novel. A novel so splendid, that it'll keep you up all night until you've digested the final sentence. I strongly recommend you all check it out, because... I'm just so speechless and so emotional from the raw, morbid beauty the author created. To think an entire novel only expanding for less than an hour, though feeling like an eternity. An eternity that kept hold of you until the very end. But yes. It was a book guys. I'm Fine is still going on for a little while longer. So it was my fault for not clearing that up ^.^ Sorry.
