Dad finally came home today.

He was drunk

a dangerous drunk,

and I shouldn't of been shocked

when his fist slammed against the side of my face.

My cheek started swelling,

he started yelling at me.

Demanding why my mother left us

for another man.

Demanding why I was still alive.

That mom shouldn't of died

in that car crash.

That it should've been me

rather than the love of his life

driving away with her old college friend,

and not being able to escape.

He started bawling,

then he kicked me in the stomach

for being such a disgrace.

I couldn't breath,

I was throbbing in pain

and just before I passed out,

I thought

I'm fine

I'm fine

you shouldn't do this dad

but I'll be fine.
