《Soulmates | S.M.》32

Last year, Shawn and I got coffee after eating at the restaurant and that's what we did this year. With our coffee's in hand, we got out of the car and approached the gazebo in the middle of the garden and sat down on the small park bench that was on it.
We were drinking our coffee and looking at the assortment of flowers. Purple, blue, pink, red. It was absolutely beautiful. Shawn stood up to throw away his coffee cup as I continued to look out at the little pond that held a family of ducks, the little ducklings following their parents.
Shawn came back and I stood up, taking his right hand in my left leading him to the gazebo's railing. I pointed to the pond. "Do you see the duck family over there?" I rested my right elbow on the fence, smiling up at Shawn. He nodded his head.
I looked back at the ducks then spoke up. "When I first looked at them, I instantly thought about us"
"Really? How?"
"I don't know. I just saw an image of us with little children running around" Shawn pulled me in for a hug, my arms instantly wrapped around his torso, his head placed gently on the top of mine.
We stayed like this for a little while, the calmness of the gardens allowing us to be at peace for a while. I then felt Shawn pull away, causing me to look up at him. "What wrong?"
"Dance with me" He placed his hands around my waist, and I placed mine around his neck. We then started swaying.
"We don't have any music" I scrunched my nose at him.
"What kind of music are you feeling?"
"Hmm. You"
"Me?" He chuckled.
"Yeah. Sing to me, Mendes"
He spun me around. "What song?"
"My favorite"
"Which one?"
I jokingly gasped and widened my eyes at him. "You don't know my favorite song?"
"I'm sorry that I don't know your favorite song. You literally have ten million"
I snorted. "Fair enough. By the way, it's Fallin' All in You"
"Is it really?"
"Yes, you lyrical genius. Now sing for me" I went on my tip toes, placing a kiss on his lips, then continued swaying.
"Sunrise with you on my chest" He sang as we danced.
We danced to the whole song until he sang the last line, "We're free, baby, fallin' all in you"
My heart melted right in front of him. "Ugh. I will never get tired of your voice. Thank you, love"
"Always. I will forever and always sing for you when you need me to" He smiled down at me, placing a passionate kiss on my lips. He pulled away and I took a second to catch my breathe.
"Whew. That was a good kiss. A very good kiss"
He chuckled at my response and we both looked out into the distance. The pink and orange sky as the sun was going down complimented the flowers, causing them to almost sparkle next to the pond water.
"Are you ready to go home? It's getting kinda late" I asked, looking at Shawn, then seeing a black car park next to ours on the street. I didn't think much of it.

"Wait. Alana. I uh. Need to tell you something" He turned me to where I was facing the pond and away from the sun and the parking spots.
"Before we leave. I think I should talk about this whole year and how everything has changed for the better" He brushed his hand through his hair then quickly added, "In honor of it being a year since our first outing together, of course"
"Of course" I smiled, excited to hear what he had to say. He grabbed both of my hands in his.
"Before I met you, I was in a really good state in my life. I was on tour, going out every night and performing for thousands of people every night is absolutely unreal. I never thought that things were only going to get better. When I saw you in the crowd that night, something inside me hoped that I would see you again. And fate did me a favor and caused you to forget your phone"
"And you just happened to be there when I went in" I smiled.
"I just happened to be there" He repeated. "Now. A year later, we've had our ups and downs. Mainly ups. And I guess I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being there for me in the morning and not leaving me like other girls do. Thank you for being the person I can talk to when I need to vent. Thank you for being the person that I can say I'm in love with when fans ask if I've ever been in love"
My heart began beating super quickly and he continued, "I don't know what I would do without you, Alana. Everything about you just makes me so happy. The way you subconsciously roll over to my side of the bed when you're asleep, your laugh when you find something to be truly funny, the way you run your fingers through my hair when we're hugging. All of these little things make me so incredibly in love with you and I never thought I'd be able to experience this with anyone"
"Were the people in my life cautious when you came into my life? Definitely. Fans can be crazy nowadays and they thought that you were only using me for my fame. But that's not the case at all. You've allowed me experience feelings and emotions that I never knew existed within me and I'm grateful for that, I truly am"
My eyes started watering and Shawn wiped the single tear drop that fell down my cheek. He continued. "Alana Sinclair. I can't wait to experience this journey that's called life with you and maybe, one day, have little ducklings of our own running around"
He stopped talking and I hugged him, tighter than I ever had before. "I love you Shawn Peter Raul Mendes. I love you"
"I love you more, Alana" He let go of the hug, cupping my cheeks into his hands. "I need to do something"
"Huh?" I looked up at him.
"Can I see your necklace?"
"My necklace?" The necklace he was referring to was the heart necklace he gave me on Valentine's Day.

"Yeah" He turned me around, unclasping the necklace from around my neck. "Do you remember why I gave you this necklace?"
I thought about it. "Well. You gave it to me as a Valentine's gift"
"And" He said, waiting for me to figure it out. He grabbed my promise ring from my left ring finger and slid the ring onto the necklace's chain, putting the necklace back on my neck.
Then it hit me. I got a flashback from February 14th.
He reached from under his chair, pulling out a medium-sized black velvet box. He opened it, revealing a necklace with a thin, diamond heart. I put my hands towards my heart, in awe. "Shawn. You didn't have to"
He put the box down, reaching for my hands, and rested them on the table. "I know I didn't have to but I wanted to. These past seven months that we've been together seemed to be really rushed in the beginning but I knew that we were going at the right pace. I wanted to thank you for everything you've done. Dealing with paparazzi, being kind to the fans, taking care of me after I got drunk on New Year's"
I let out a small laugh after he said this. He continued, "This ring on your finger" He paused to wiggle it with his thumb. "I want to replace it one day. With an engagement ring that will eventually lead me to calling you my wife"
I looked up at him. "You're proposing?"
Then I watched as he pulled out a small black ring box from his pocket, then got down on one knee, opening the box so I could see. I closed my eyes and quickly closed the box.
"What?" Shawn asked, concern displayed on his voice and face.
"Don't worry, love. Of course I'm saying yes. I just can't believe this is happening right now. I'm in shock"
He smiled at me then softly laughed. "That's sweet, honey. Can I propose to you now?"
I chuckled realizing that I totally ruining the moment. "Oh, yeah. Go for it"
He cleared his throat then said, "Alana Rose Sinclair. Will you marry me?"
I bit my lip pulling him up so he was standing. "Yes, yes. A thousand times yes"
He opened the box, finally showing me the ring. It was a round diamond, a little bit bigger than my promise ring, and the rest of the band that didn't hold the diamond had tiny little diamonds embedded into it. He took it out of the box, sliding it onto my finger.
I placed my hands on Shawn's cheeks, going on the tips of my toes to kiss him. "Do you like it?" He mumbled, smiling into the kiss.
"It's stunning. I love it. And I love you more"
"I love you more" He leaned back in for another kiss and below us, the sound of cheering could be heard. Shawn and I looked over the gazebo's fencing and there was my family, Elle, Josiah (Shawn's photographer), Andrew, Brian, and Shawn's family.
I placed my right hand on Shawn's chest, then looked up at him. "They all knew about this?"
"Yeah. They all knew about it and I asked them to come" They continued cheering. "SHE SAID YES" Shawn yelled.
"WE'RE GETTING MARRIED" I yelled. I gasped and Shawn looked towards me.
"What is it?" He asked.
"We're getting married" I chuckled, bringing my hand to his cheek, kissing him again.
"EW" I heard Elle yell. "SAVE IT FOR THE BEDROOM. PEOPLE ARE WATCHING"
Shawn and I laughed, then went off of the gazebo to go greet everyone. We all hugged and Josiah took some pictures of us. Layla went up to me and I picked her up, carrying her on my side.
Shawn was right next to me and he gave Layla a small high five. "Hi Layla. What do you think of the idea of being the flower girl at our wedding?"
My eyes widened, enthusiastic about the idea. "What's a flower girl?" She asked.
"Well" I began. "It's a very special job. When Uncle Shawn and I get married, you, the flower girl, will walk down the aisle with a basket of flower petals and throw them as you walk"
"That sounds like fun" She smiled. "Can I go to Mommy?" I put her down and watched as she ran to Elena, telling her all about the flower girl extravaganza.
Aaliyah casually slid in front of us. "And me? Do I get to be a bridesmaid?" She gave us a wide and hopeful smile.
"Of cou-" I started to say but was interrupted.
"I see you as more of a flower girl" Shawn said.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny" She replied.
"I'm serious" Shawn said, his face serious. Aaliyah looked from me to him until Shawn said, "I'm kidding"
Aaliyah released the biggest breath. "Thank goodness" She walked closer to us giving both of us a hug. "Congratulations, guys"
Elle walked over next, squeezing the life out of both of us. "I cannot believe my best friend is getting married. To her idol out of all the people"
"And I'm getting married to my biggest fan" Shawn squeezed my shoulder.
"Actually" I lifted up my pointer finger. "I cannot possibly be your biggest fan because I don't have a shrine dedicated to you"
Shawn looked down at me weirdly. "What in the world are you talking about"
"There are pictures upon pictures of people having a 'Shawn Mendes' themed shrine"
He continued to make a weird face. "There's no way"
"Oh, there is. I'll show you the pictures later"
"Well" Elle spoke. "Shrine or not, you were obsessed, Alana"
"Pfft. I was not obsessed"
"Girl. I have stories. Lots of them. Which I will save for the speech at your reception"
"I would actually love to hear these stories" Shawn pitched in.
"Like she said, she's going to save them for the reception" I chuckled and watched Elle go towards the pond with everyone else.
Shawn put his arms around me, giving me a tight squeeze. "I love you honey"
"I love you more, handsome"
We stood there, watching our family from afar, coming together to be one big happy family.
