《Soulmates | S.M.》10

"This one" Shawn said, holding a maroon-colored satin shirt. We've spent ten minutes trying to figure out what Shawn was going to wear for the dinner.
"Perfect" I smiled. I walked to the closet next to the bed and pulled out the maroon dress I brought.
"Since when did you have that?" He asked, surprised.
"I brought it with me from home" I walked into the bathroom, changing and curling my dark brown hair.
I walked out of the room, seeing that Shawn was adjusting his shirt so that it was tucked into his black pants. Going next to him, he put his arm around my waist and I put mine around his torso.
We looked at each other in the mirror, Shawn rested his head on top of mine. "You look beautiful"
"Thank you, handsome"
We both went downstairs, putting on our shoes, and went to Shawn's car to drive us to the restaurant.
10 minutes later . . .
We parked right in front of the restaurant. It was a fancy Brazilian steakhouse. Shawn turned in his seat to face me.
"Before we go inside" He said, taking my hands. "I wanted to say thank you"
"For what?" I asked.
"For coming to be with me even though you live far away"
"Of course. You're very important to me, you know?"
Shawn leaned in, kissing me softly. All of a sudden, there was a bright flash that shined through the window. I pulled away, looking into his eyes. He started to smile which then led to the both of us laughing.
After we calmed down, Shawn said. "I'm sorry. Our privacy is ruined"
"It's alright. All that matters is that we're together"
He gave me a soft smile. "Gosh, I adore you"
We got out of the car, going inside the restaurant to be met by Shawn's family and friends. The restaurant was private and had a calming vibe. The lights were dim and balloons were floating everywhere.
We went up to a table where Shawn's mom, dad, and sister were sitting.
"Mum, Dad, Aaliyah. I'd like you to meet someone very special. This is Alana"
I was about to go up to them and shake their hands but they all stood up giving me hugs one by one. We then sat down at the table with them.
"It's very nice to finally meet you, Alana" Mrs. Mendes said.

"It's wonderful to meet you all. Shawn has said nothing but great things about all of you"
"And you too" Mr. Mendes spoke.
"Yeah" Aaliyah smiled. "Every time he comes over, he talks about you nonstop"
I blushed at her comment. We spent the rest of the night eating, laughing, telling stories, overall having a great time.
Shawn and I got home around two hours later. He was upstairs getting ready for our movie night in the living room. I was already in my pajamas, a dark purple satin pajama set, and I was sitting at the piano in the middle of the room. I placed my index finger on one of the keys, playing a note. I then positioned my fingers and started playing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
"Mama" I sang. "Just killed a man" I continued singing the rest of the song, up until the part where the song transitions to the operatic section. I felt the presence of a person staring at me. I looked behind me, towards the stairs, and there Shawn was, filming me. I smiled at him and he did the same.
"I didn't know you can play piano and sing. You sound absolutely amazing"
"Were you filming me?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Maybe. Would it be alright if I posted this? The paparazzi that took the picture of us kissing posted it. It's trending number one on Twitter" He stood up from the bottom step, sitting beside me on the piano.
"Yeah of course. That's insane" I rested my head on his shoulder. He pressed a couple of buttons on his phone then started playing a melody on the piano and started humming along. I lifted my head up, looking at the way his fingers moved across the piano, the way his head bobbed up and down as he played. It was so peaceful and I can't believe I have the opportunity to be sitting here with such an enchanting person. He reminds me of Prince Charming.
I think I'm falling for him.
I picked up Alana, bridal style, from the piano bench and brought her to the living room couch. I turned on the television, sitting down next to her, grabbing the remote from the coffee table. "I was going to ask what you wanted to watch" I said. "But I have a recommendation" I turned on Bohemian Rhapsody.

Alana turned her head towards me, grinning. "I love this movie so much" I kissed her nose, watching.
We sang along to the songs, laughed at some parts. We were at the part of the movie where the band is performing at Live Aid. Freddie started singing 'We Are the Champions' and I started to hear sniffles coming from my left side. I looked down at Alana and she was crying.
"Hey" I whispered. "Are you okay?"
She looked at me, crying into her laugh. "Yeah. This scene hits me every time" I wrapped my arms around her.
By the time the movie ended, Alana was sobbing. I went to the kitchen and grabbed her a box of tissues. "Thanks, love" She said before she blew her nose.
I grinned at the nickname. "Love, eh?" She looked at me, a smile starting to form on her lips. "You call me honey all the time. I want to call you something too"
"Fair enough" I said. She went back to hugging me and I was engulfed by her fruity scent, my favorite scent. We sat in silence, looking at the city lights from the glass windows.
"My parents adored you" I put my chin on top of her head.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. They told me after dinner"
"Well. I loved them. They're really sweet. Especially your sister"
"Mmm. Aaliyah threatened me on the way out. Said that if I didn't take care of you, she'd never talk to me again"
Alana chuckled. She looked at me, studying my facial features. I looked at hers. Her beautiful dark brown eyes, her heartwarming smile, the way her dimples stood out when she smiled. I then noticed a change in her face, almost sadness.
"What's wrong, hun?" I asked, displaying a look of concern.
"It's nothing"
"It's obviously something"
She shook her head. "I don't know. I was just thinking. I can't believe I'm leaving tomorrow"
"You're leaving tomorrow?"
"Yeah. I thought I told you?"
"You said you were leaving in two days"
"I said that yesterday. Tomorrow marks the second day"
I stood up from the couch, motioning Alana to follow. I knew exactly what would distract her from being sad. I took her hand, leading her upstairs to the studio room. I told her to sit down as I grabbed my laptop and two pairs of headphones, plugging them into the laptop and placing it on the couch next to her. I sat next to the laptop and opened the file that I needed.
"Before I let you listen, I need to tell you how this song came to be" She nodded her head, listening.
I continued with the story. "I started this song with an imaginary girl in my head. Basically, it was about this girl I fell in love with. I was about to release it. Until I met you. Ever since that day we spent together after we met, I got inspired and ended up changing most of the lyrics. I finished recording the night before you came. So here it is. Stuck on You 2.0"
I put on my headphones and she did the same. I pressed play and it was silent in the room for 4 minutes and 16 seconds.
We took off the headphones and I looked at Alana, waiting for a response. She stayed silent as I watched her close the laptop, standing up to place it on one of the desks. She went back towards me, sitting down and putting her hands on my cheeks. "Shawn" She began, staring deeply into my eyes. Instead of continuing to talk, she pulled me closer to her, kissing me.
This kiss wasn't like any of the other ones we had. It was passionate. She pulled away. "So" I said. "Did you like it?"
She shook her head. "I didn't like it"
"What?"
"I loved it. Thank you"
I started grinning. "You scared the crap out of me"
"Come on" She motioned. "Let's go to bed"
We laid down, cuddling. Moments like these are what makes leaving each other difficult. There are some nights where I'm thinking about Alana, wishing she could be here with me. Of course, FaceTime is perfect because we still get to see each other even if we're miles away. But it's not the same as her being in my arms.
I felt a hand go on my chest. I looked down and Alana was smiling at me. "It's 11:58" She said. "Happy Birthday"
"Thank you honey" I kissed her forehead. She put her head back on the pillow.
I heard her quiet breaths, signifying that she went to sleep. She was so peaceful, like Sleeping Beauty.
I think I'm falling for her.
