《Soulmates | S.M.》9

I heard the door downstairs open and someone walking up the stairs, butterflies in my stomach. Finally, the bedroom door opened.

I looked at Shawn, smiling and he looked back at me, in shock. He dropped whatever he was holding, it looked like a small bag, and ran over to the bed, engulfing me in a bear hug. I laughed, hugging back. "What are you doing here? How are you here?" He asked, not letting go.

Being crushed by his weight, I tried responding but was out of breath from laughing. He got up and I regained my oxygen.

"Do you really think I would miss your birthday? Andrew called, he brought me here" He looked around at the candles then decided to rest, sitting up, against his pillows. I followed his actions, laying next to him. He looked over at me and smiled. "I can't believe you're here"

"Honestly. Neither can I"

"Have you brought your stuff up?"

"Oh" I sat up. "It's downstairs in the living room. I'll go get it"

"No" Shawn stood up. "You stay right there and rest. I'll get it"

He started leaving the room and I jumped up from the bed to stop him. "Shawn! I'll get it"

He looked at me and smirked. He started running down the stairs to the living room. "Hey!" I yelled, running after him. "It's not fair. You have longer legs"

He got to the living room before me and saw the large wrapped box that contained his guitar. He looked at me questionably. "Did you get me a gift?"

"Guilty as charged" I said, putting my hands up.

"You know you didn't have to get me anything. You being here is more than enough"

"I know. But I promise. You're going to like this one. I was going to have you open it tomorrow but do you wanna open it right now?"

"Yes" He said, eagerly. He lifted the box, resting it on the coffee table and sitting down on the soft, plush couch. I sat down next to him. He began stripping the box of the wrapping paper and opened the box until all he saw was the guitar case. "A guitar? Alana these are so exp-"

"Shush. Just finish opening it"

He opened the case to reveal the blue electric guitar. He looked from me to the guitar in shock. "Alana"

"Shawn" I said, grinning.

"How did you find this?"

"It was at my local music store"

He stayed silent for a second then spoke up. "These are so expensive"

I shook my head. "Nothing has a price when it comes to you" He looked at me again, leaned over, cupping my face in his hands. "Can I kiss you?" He asked, looking from my eyes to my lips.

"Go for it" He leaned it a bit closer, closing the space. It was like the first time. Soft, gentle, heart-fluttering.

He sat back up again. "Thank you. So much. You're an absolute angel. I don't know what I did to deserve you"

I smiled at that as I watched him take out the guitar and pluck a couple of the strings. He looked at the clock and said "It's getting kinda late. We should probably go upstairs"

"Sure" I responded.

Shawn went over to my suitcase and carried it all the way upstairs with me following behind him. He laid the suitcase on the bed. "I figured you can hang up some of your clothes in the closet if you want"

"Sure that's cool" I said. Opening the suitcase, I totally forgot about one thing. I opened it to its entirety so that everything in the suitcase could be seen by anyone. I looked down and saw the red freaking dress. And I'm sure Shawn did too. I looked at him and he was looking down at the suitcase. He pointed to the dress. "May I?"

I nodded my head, it was too late at this point. He lifted it up and looked at it. "Is this um. Is this a dress for dinner or?"

"What do you think?" I blatantly said. "OH" He responded.

"Yeah. Elle. She jokingly bought it an-"

"Put it on"

"What?"

"I bet you look great it in. I wanna see"

My eyes widened as I nodded my head, taking the dress from him, and going to the bathroom. The bathroom was pretty large. A big mirror, two sinks, bath, shower, and separate room for the toilet. I put on the dress. So many thoughts were running through my head, butterflies zooming around my stomach. I looked at myself, fixing my hair a bit, and finally had the courage to go out.

I looked at Shawn, standing near the closet, hanging my clothes. He stopped what he was doing and looked at me. "Wow" He said.

"I feel a bit exposed" I said, rubbing my arms.

"Don't be" He responded, walking to my spot by the bathroom door. "You look. Incredible"

We spent the next minute smiling at each other like fools until I decided to wrap my arms around his neck, softly kissing him. He put his hands on my waist, smiling into the kiss. It went from soft to passionate in seconds when Shawn lifted me up so my legs were around his waist. He brought us to the bed, gently putting me down. He left a trail of kisses from my lips, to my cheeks, and then my neck. His hands slid down to my waist.

"Do you want to do this?" He asked, softly.

"Yes" I said, kissing him back.

What happens next is up to your imagination. Let's just say that it was magical. And Elle was right about her prediction, that crazy girl.

An hour later. . .

Shawn and I were wrapped up in blankets, looking out at the beautiful view of Toronto. My head was rested on his bare chest as Shawn ran his fingers through my hair. I looked at the clock, 11 pm. One hour until Shawn's birthday.

"Alana?" I heard him say. I adjusted myself so I was able to look at him.

"Hmmm?" I asked.

"I should have asked this a long time ago but later is better than never" He stared deep into my eyes, causing me to smile. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

I giggled, nodding my head. "Yes. Of course"

Afterwards, the both of us fell asleep in each others arms.

The Next Morning . . .

I woke up at around seven in the morning which was pretty early for me. Shawn was still asleep next to me so I decided to let him get some rest. Getting up, I took one of his red hoodies from the closet and put it on, going downstairs into the kitchen.

I opened the fridge, hoping to find some ingredients to cook with. I found a package of bacon and in the pantry, some pancake mix.

The smell of the bacon started to surround the kitchen as I let them sizzle in the pan. As I was flipping them over, I felt a hand snake around my waist. Shawn rested his head on my shoulder. "Morning" He said, his voice still a little rough.

"Happy birthday!" I said, smiling as I turned around to face him, placing my hands around his neck.

"Thank you, honey. You didn't have to make breakfast you know" He rested his forehead against mine.

"It's alright" I whispered, quickly pecking his lips before turning back around to get the bacon off the pan.

We ate breakfast, enjoying each other's company. "So" I asked. "Any special birthday plans for today?"

"Birthday dinner tonight. You get to meet my family" He smiled. "Other than that, it's a pretty relaxing day"

I smiled back. "I can't wait to meet them. I bet they're wonderful"

We spent the next five minutes eating and Shawn responded to a bunch of messages he's been getting. "Hey. You wanna go get coffee?"

"Sure!" I said. We got up, putting the plates in the sink and heading upstairs to get ready.

Shawn goes to this coffee shop every day that he is home. It's about a block away from his condo so it wasn't that far of a walk. On the way there though, there were fans, about ten. At least five of them asked if we were dating and we had to brush it off because we agreed to keep it secret for awhile. Of course, Shawn wanted the fans to know but he said that it would be better if we had some time to ourselves, without all the publicity.

We entered the coffee shop. It was small and quaint, very personal, although there were a lot of people there. We went up to a register and ordered our drinks, a black coffee for Shawn and an iced coffee for me.

Shawn got his coffee before me so he went to get some sugars for his coffee. I was still waiting by the pick-up area when I heard someone say, "Hey. Do you go here often?"

I looked over and it was a boy making coffee. He had blonde hair, a tallish figure, and was wearing a beanie. I looked behind me to make sure he was speaking to me. "Oh. Me?"

"Yes" He smiled.

"Um. This is my first time here"

"In Canada?" He said, handing me my coffee.

"Yeah. Thanks"

"How about I show you around after my shift?"

"Oh" I said, slowly. "I have a b-" I was interrupted when Shawn put his arm around me. "Ready to go babe?" He looked at the barista.

"A boyfriend" I completed my sentence. "I'm sorry"

We walked out of the coffee shop, Shawn stopping me when we reached the front window. "We should go public"

"Hmm?"

"Our relationship. We should tell people"

"Where's this coming from? I thought we agreed to keep it private for a while?"

"I just want people to know. So they don't ask you out"

"You're jealous, aren't you?" I snorted.

"I'm not jealous" He said, in a way that you could tell he was lying.

"Come on" I said, taking his hand, and leading him home. "You don't have to worry about things like that. I'm reserved for you and you only"
