'Ugh, I forgot to close the window again...'
With a groan, you rolled over and pressed your pillow against your head in order to block out the irritating sound.
'...Wait. A. Second.'
Your eyes shot open and you bolted upright to find yourself in your own room just as you'd left it. The window was wide open and a gentle breeze played around with your curtains. It was calm... too calm...
"LUFFY! STOP PLAYING WITH IT BEFORE IT BREAKS!" Nami's voice boomed.
'That's more like it...' you sighed in relief, knowing that the chaos is just apart of your fate, and you've accepted it now. 'Wait, what am I doing here?'
Your body acted immediately. Seen as how you were dressed in your clothes from the previous night you only allowed yourself a little time to tidy the bird's nest you called hair. After a few brushes, you hopped down the stairs into your living room where you'd all the straw hats making themselves at home.
'For people who are supposed to be leaving today they don't seem to be in any rush' you analyzed.
"I don't know how (Y/n) managed to deal with you for such a long time without killing you" Nami growled as she dragged Luffy into the room.
"That's the last one doctor" Robin handed Chopper a piece of paper who was eager to take it from her.
"Thank you, Robin, I hope she likes it" He giggled in excitement.
"You hope who likes what?" you asked curiously, thinking it's about time to make yourself known
"AAAAGGHH! (Y/N)!" Chopper screamed throwing whatever he was holding into the air.
Luckily Usopp was able to jump and catch whatever it was Chopper threw"Oi Chopper! Be careful!"
"(Y/N)! You're finally awake!" Luffy shot out of nowhere and tackled you, and as usual, you were taken off your feet.
'Does anyone understand that I need my organs in order to function?' you groaned
"G-Good morning to you too Lu" you rasped.
Laughter captured the room as the scene unfolded, but only Luffy's chuckles filled your ears which made the pain and weight bearable.
"What happened last night?" You breathed "I thought we were on Sunny?"
"Well you fell asleep quite quickly" Luffy started.
"Probably from all the late nights dealing with us" Zoro added as he continued to lift a random dumbbell
"So we thought it best to bring you home so you could sleep comfortably on your bed" Luffy explained from the kitchen.
"Ah, I'm sorry for the trouble!" You apologized.
"It was no trouble at all (Y/n)- swan!" Sanji emerged from the kitchen.
"Luffy! Don't forget the surprise!" Robin called out.
"Oh yeah!" He shouted.
"What surpr-Agh!"
Suddenly something was shoved in your face making everything around you look hazy. You gasped in surprise and on reflex immediately went to remove the object obstructing your sight.
"Not yet (Y/n)" Luffy said seriously. "You can't take it off yet"
It was then you noticed the red streak in the corner of your eyes. Luffy was using his treasure to hide your face. With that, you slowly relaxed and in response. It was probably because you knew how important it was to Luffy, there was never a time you saw him without his beloved treasure. You felt the weight on your chest ease up. Despite that, the warmth of his body never left you because he had his arm wrapped securely around your waist to keep you close and bring you back to your feet. Luffy then took your hand and dragged you towards the front door, from what you could see.

The sound of shuffling footsteps on the floorboards behind you didn't go unnoticed.
'Where are these guys taking me?'
It seemed as though everyone was following you both outside to wherever Luffy was taking you, and, as usual, you were completely clueless as to why.
"Guys, what's going on? You're making me nervous" you chuckled nervously.
"What's this? Do you not trust us Ms (Y/n)?" Robin responded.
"I trust you guys enough to know that you have a tendency to attract trouble" you laughed
There were a few snickers from your witty remark but nothing more. That was when Luffy stopped you just a distance from your house.
"Ready... Look!" Luffy beamed.
Light blinded your eyes as Luffy shifted his hat to sit on top of your head. Wincing slightly, you blinked towards the silhouette of your house. Your house. Your eyes widened in surprise as you gasped at the sight before you. Your house was bigger, it had an extra room and a little glass conservatory.
"Are you surprised!?" Luffy grinned proudly.
"H-How?! N-No, I mean yes! B-but when? Why?" you fumbled over your own words.
"Easy there (Y/n) don't confuse yourself!" Franky laughed, completely smug with your reaction.
"Franky! What's going on!?" you looked at him slightly panicked. "N-Nami! I can't afford this!"
"We aren't charging you (Y/n)" Zoro smirked. "Right Nami?"
"Yeah yeah I know! This should cover for most of the trouble we caused and food the black hole known as Luffy consumed" Nami counted on her hand.
"It's a gift?...I... but you...this... this is..." your mouth moved but no words could describe the gratitude you felt.
"Yohohoho! (Y/n)-san is at a loss for words"
"I guess we did a SUPER job then" Franky posed.
"The hardest part was keeping it a surprise, especially when Luffy found out" Usopp sighed and everyone gave a small nod.
"Everyone was in on this?" You whispered, still struggling to find your voice.
"Yup!" Nami smiled.
"Franky was the one who suggested we do this and use the crack in the wall as a cover" Robin explained. "Zoro got the wood from the forest and Luffy helped him carry it back. Usopp and Franky built the furniture on Sunny and everyone else pitched in with ideas"
"The tricky part was keeping you busy long enough to transport the furniture and build the extension while you were preoccupied" Nami continued.
"That's why we brought you to sunny!" Chopper bounced in excitement. "While you were doing the tour with Nami and Robin Franky and Zoro carried the furniture over then made it back just in time for the water fight"
"And the extension?" You inquired.
"That was after we took your boys home" Usopp smirked "we were planning on going back to shore anyway but taking those three home turned out to be the perfect cover story"
"Everyone was allowed to have an input in the design as well" Sanji offered a sincere smile. "Wanna take a look?"
You were still in shock but the sudden rush of butterflies in your stomach only triggered your excitement, causing you to take a few cautious steps forward. Before you knew it your monotone expression switched to one of pure joy. Without thinking you spun around to face the straw hats, who were radiating waves of delight from your reaction.
"SUPER right?" Franky gave you a thumbs up.
In a heartbeat, you ran and pounced on poor unsuspecting Franky and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" You cried out, but you didn't stop there.
Like a child on Christmas receiving the best gift ever, you ran around making sure to give hugs and kisses to each of the straw hats before dancing around in pure delight. With you being in your giddy state you were unable to notice the effect you had on the poor straw hat crew members. Zoro was red all across his face and he couldn't even look at you, Luffy had the biggest smile you'd ever seen. Sanji and Brook were a complete mess, and everyone else had given embarrassed chuckles.
"AH (Y/N)-SAN IS SO FORWARD!" Brook cried out, his hands covering his face like a little school girl.
"H-Heaven... I've experienced heaven" Sanji muttered as he collapsed on the ground, blood spewing from his nostrils.
"SANJI!!!" Chopper screamed, "Don't go towards the light!"
"Shishishi! Come on (Y/n)! I wanna give you a tour!" Luffy snatched your hand and dragged you back into the house to show you around.
"Oi Luffy! Wait!" Usopp chased him as the others followed close behind.
------------------------------------------------------------
Stunning. It was absolutely stunning. The wall that your grandfather had poorly built back was completely gone and replaced with an extra side room that could convert into a bedroom if the need were to arise. The glass conservatory was built into the side of the room overlooking the flowers in your front garden, giving a pleasantly calming view. Chopper had suggested giving you a propper medicine cabinet instead of your small first aid kit. As well as that, Robin and Nami insisted on you having another bookshelf, already filled with some interesting books, including your journal.
'It's like my home has become a small clinic and library' you giggled to yourself. 'How the hell did they make this in such a short time?'
Everything was planned out to the last detail. Luffy and Chopper were having the time of their lives bouncing around on the sofa bed.
"Now (Y/n) this is very important so pay attention," Usopp said with a serious face. "After hearing and seeing the power you've amassed on your wrist I took the liberty to prepare for any cautions"
"I'm sorry?" You tilted your head.
"You've got some very powerful friends (y/n), but as a result, you may have gathered some powerful enemies as well" Robin simplified.
'Sadly, I've already experienced that with Kid and Doflamingo... I'm so glad everything turned out ok'
"You only have one exit for your house excluding windows. Usopp suggested that we give you another option" Brook continued.
"Another option?" You raised a doubtful brow
'I feel so dumb, I've literally been repeating everything they've said all morning'
"Yup! A secret passage!" Ussop rubbed his nose smirking
"A SECRET PASSAGE!" Luffy gushed. "THAT'S SO COOL!"
'If Luffy knows, then can you really call it a secret?' You gave a doubtful look.
Ussop moved to the center of the room and tugged at one edge of the carpet. In doing so a hidden trapdoor opened up. You didn't even know it was there. It had a small ladder that led a little ways down, and the path was big enough for you to walk but you'd definitely have to crouch down a bit.
'No seriously, how the hell did they make all this in such a short time?'
"The passage goes underground and leads to the back of the house near the forest. If you feel like you're in danger don't be afraid to use it" Ussop stressed.
"I understand, but the chances of that happening are pretty low"
'Great, now I'm starting to sound like Hawkins' you thought as you closed back the trapdoor.
"It's true, your island is already pretty hard to find as it is, and even if bad people do find it by accident, most of the people here won't let anything get out of hand" Nami reassured.
"However there is nothing wrong with taking precautions" Sanji sighed. "And now that that's out of the way, breakfast is ready~ Robin-swan, Nami-swan, (Y/n)-chwan~"
"Yay!" Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp cheered and rushed out of the room.
"I wasn't talking to you ya fricken gluttons!" Sanji stormed off, which became a signal for everyone else to follow.
———————————————————————————————
This beach was becoming a heartbreaker for you. Constantly saying goodbye to new and old friends was starting to take its toll. As soon as you'd finished breakfast the boys came by to say a quick goodbye before everyone packed up and set off towards the beach.
"Make sure you take care of yourself (Y/n)!" Chopper waved from the mini Merry.
"Don't forget to take a look at those paths again" Nami added.
"And don't forget the amazing person who made them CAPTAIN-Hwagh!" Ussop was hit by Nami.
"Stay safe (Y/n)!" Robin smiled "it would be awful if you were caught in a squabble between pirates and injured from crossfire"
'That's awfully specific' you sweatdropped as you waved your final goodbyes.
You watched as the mini Merry sailed towards sunny with its passengers. The only ones left on shore were the Zoro, Sanji, Luffy. You placed your hand back at your side, seen as how the other was still clinging onto Zoro's.
"You guys better not cause any trouble for Nami when you leave" you smiled. "She seems stressed out of her mind"
"Of course (Y/n)-swan!"
"That she-devil is none of my concern" Zoro grunted.
"Shishishi! Don't worry (Y/n), we won't!"
'Why did that sound like a 'we definitely will'' you sighed.
In the distance, you saw mini Merry making the final push back to pick up its last passengers. And in that same moment, you could feel Zoro starting to tense slightly from the time he had with you slowly starting to fleet away.
"Hey mossy, just try not to fall down any more wells ok?" You patted his head gently, getting one last play with his hair. "You'll make me worry"
He watched you for a few seconds before snatching your hand and placing a gentle kiss on your wrist. His eyes focused solely on your own.
"I'll get stronger so you won't have to worry" he mumbled into your palm, his hot breath fanning over the expanse of your hand caused you to burn brighter than a cherry red tomato. "That's a promise"
"Zo-!" You squeaked before you felt a strong rush of wind blow past your face.
"YOU SHITTY HAIRED BASTARD!" Sanji seethed now stood in Zoro's place. "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT!"
'What a strong sense of Deja vu'
"Sanji" you sighed as you shook your head.
"Yes (Y/n)-san!" He responded happily, completely ignoring your disapproval.
"...Do you remember what we talked about?" You looked him straight in his sharp blue eyes.
His lustful state started to fade and he was able to give you a genuine nod.
"Good!" You smiled and gave him a hug. "There's always a home for you here Sanji, don't be a stranger"
It didn't take long for Sanji to wrap himself around you and fully embrace your warmth for the last time in a while. You stroked his hair until the sound of Merry paddling up on shore for the last time came to an abrupt stop.
"Would the last passengers please board the mini Merry now?" Usopp grinned.
"Now both of you play nice" you smiled as you watched Zoro and Sanji climb into the small boat growling at each other like wild animals.
'I don't even think they heard me...'
It was then that Luffy's smile started to fall. His hand slowly reaching out for yours as if fighting the urge to snatch you up and take you with him. It was starting to dawn on him that you were going to have to part ways again.
"Lu~ this is only goodbye for now" you clasped your hand in his and gave it a gentle squeeze. "We'll see each other again. We promised."
"I know," he said seriously. "It's why I never asked you to join the crew... but (Y/n) no matter what happens, I'll never let anyone take you away from me again, even if the whole world is against me"
Luffy's sudden maturity always took you by surprise, but you could only smile at him as you stared into his deeply determined brown eyes, no trace of doubt in sight.
"I wouldn't expect less from the future pirate king" you whispered. "But don't tell Ace I said that"
Bringing your hand behind his head, you gently brought his head closer to your so you could rest your forehead against his. Your other hand placed itself on his cheek, carefully tracing the scar under his left eye with your thumb.
"Sabo would be proud Lu"
In your sensitive state the words had just slipped out, yet you truly meant every word.
"And what about you?" He asked quietly arms coiled tightly around your waist.
"I always have been and I always will" you planted a small kiss on his forehead.
'I know saying goodbye will always be hard, but because I know you'll come back again, that's all I need to keep going'
"Goodbye for now..."

Rekindle
My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.
