《Welcome home - One Piece x Reader》Time to Prepare

It's been hours since Law left, and the boys are sobbing in your arms. They refuse to forgive you for not letting them say goodbye as well. Although you're pretty sure they just wanted to see Bepo. After a lot of soothing and apologising you managed to usher them out of your house, even if they were still crying about how much they missed him.
'To think decapitation brings people this close together' you watched them leave and closed the door behind you.
You decided it was best if you didn't work today, you wouldn't have been able to focus. So instead you were cleaning the house. You wore a loose shirt, some shorts and you're (f/c) apron. You started by changing the bedsheets, then cleaning bathrooms and kitchen, followed by sweeping the living room and finally putting books back where they belong. In a sense, it helped you to refresh and clear your memories as well.
"The ideal housewife strikes again" you stated proudly at your now sparkling house.
With your hands on your hip you nodded in approval at your achievement, only to spot your journal poking out from behind a cushion on your sofa.
'So you read through my private life and then stuff it behind a pillow. What a considerate human being you are Law' you sighed already hearing his cheeky response like: 'what can I say (y/n) I set high standards' his smirk still fresh in your mind.
"Ugh, he's not even here and he's tormenting me" you smiled.
You walked over to the journal and picked it up to place it some where safe but something was sticking out of it.
'Is that an envelope?' you pulled it out completely and saw your name written in what was probably the neatest handwriting you'd ever seen. 'For me?'
You could feel your inner child come out as you whipped out the envelope and opened it, to find a small piece of paper inside. Taking a deep breath you slowly unravelled the neatly folded paper.
'Dear (y/n)-ya,
If you are reading this right now, it means that I regretfully couldn't convince you to join me on my journey to become pirate king. I can't blame you entirely for that as you have taken on many responsibilities. To force you to abandon them would be unfair to you, and that is the last thing you were to me.
Even though you knew my story, my past and my troublesome nature, you still did everything you could to save me. I am eternally indebted to you for that (y/n)-ya. So because I know how proud I can be I probably won't be able to tell you in person but thank you. Thank you for seeing me as Law the human.
Although I may never see you again... know that your kindess has found it's way to my heart. In return i've given you one with my crew insignia. If anyone tries to attack you, it'll be an act of war against us. And (y/n)-ya, stay safe.
your lover,
Law.'
You smiled through the few tears escaped your eyes, though you were careful not to mess up the paper note. You then pulled out a small silver chained bracelet, a heart charm dangling from it with Law's pirate insignia just as he described. You wasted no time putting it on.
'Great, now I've got someone else to worry about. That absolute idiot' you sniffled.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Morning (y/n)! You wanting the usual?" asked Briggs
"If you could Briggs? that would be great!" you said as you wiped your brow.

It's been a week since Law left and sure you miss him but you still have work to do. You framed his letter and decorated it with black flowers. And the bracelet? you haven't taken it off. It just makes you feel at ease.
"I must know (y/n), why do you need so much sake. You don't exactly seem like the drinking type, but you come here every month or so and order two large barrels of Sake." he raised an inquisitive brow.
"You should know better than to pry into personal affairs of customers Briggs" you said mockingly as you started loading the booze onto your cart.
"That's rich coming from you (y/n)!" he laughed "four of your customers have already proposed to you!"
"Five now actually..." you muttered causing him to laugh even more.
"That's exactly what I'd expect from the most 'Ideal Housewife'" he smiled. "But seriously (y/n) I'm just asking for your safety."
"If you really must know then it's because I'm expecting some guests. I don't know when they'll arrive, or how many there'll be, but I need to be ready for anything. As they say luck favours the prepared!" You sang as strapped the two large barrels down next to a load of food.
"How much do I owe you Briggs?" You said wiping your brow.
"I could really do with two no! Three of those drizzle cakes you do! Maybe a marble cake as well!" His eyes were shining.
"Deal!" You nodded "I'll see you next month" you waved as you walked out
"You might see me sooner cause of the festival!" He called after you.
'Festival? Oh that's right! The freedom festival! Gosh it's come around so quickly!'
Every 4 years the island would host a celebration for their freedom from captivity. It was huge! You'd dress in kimonos and dance. Play games all related to breaking free and at the very end you'd walk to the coast and watch the fireworks. It was a blast (no pun intended). Last time you were voted to look after food but this year you were a performer. And in all honesty you were terrified. It's not like you were bad; it was more the fear of drawing too much attention to yourself.
'Well It's not like I was doing a good job of hiding in the first place. I've been proposed to five times now' you thought
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)! Do you need some help!?" You turned to see your second favourite troublemakers.
"Hey boys! Don't you guys have parents who need your help?" You laughed.
"Yeah but you give us treats if we do well" said Liam
"And you're more fun to hang around!" Issac added
"Well as flattered as I am, I'll be fine so go home and help your parents. Besides I don't have any treats on me today, as you can see I've only just stocked up" You ordered
"Aw alright, bye (y/n)" Ian frowned as they all walked away.
"Bye boys! And don't be rude to your parents, they're the only reason you're here! ok?" You called after them, even though they'd long gone.

Eventually you got home. You forgot how heavy your cart actually was.
'Maybe I did get too much' you thought to yourself. 'I always do this'.
You packed everything out; booze in the backroom, meat in the cooler, fruit and veg in fridge and dinner on the stove. Yup, you were sorted for the evening.

"I should probably gloss over my performances and times"
You pulled out an envelope that was already opened and glossed over the letter's timetable.
(Y/n): preforming three times, including the firework preparation dance which is in a group.
'I'm gonna die... I practiced it today but I can't seem to get the last section right... I keep tripping' You sighed and removed dinner from the stove.
"Oh well, I still have a week or so to perfect it, so I shouldn't stress out, you got this (y/n)!" You encouraged yourself.
"But I should probably eat first" You laughed to yourself as you served yourself some food.

[A little bit extra]
"Are you sure you saw her over here Luffy?" Sabo asked once again.
The sun was blazing high in the sky and today Luffy saw something he wanted to show his brothers.
"I know what our (y/n) looks like! It was definitely her!" Luffy huffed impatiently.
"Luffy is that water?" Ace asked
"There she is!" Luffy ignored Ace's question and made his way over to some bushes which he peered through. "She's still going!" He smiled
Both Ace and Sabo looked at each other for confirmation, they then peered in the same direction that Luffy was looking. The sight stole their breath away.
There was a shallow stream with Luscious green banking on either side. The trees were lined along the stream a little further-back so that when the sun shine came, light was scattered all over the banking, but crystal clear over the water. And then there was you.
Your back pack was cast to the side along with your shoes. You didn't need them because you were dancing in the stream.
Luffy laughed whilst Ace and Sabo were speechless. They'd never seen you do something like this.
Sure you would hum a tune for them every once in a while to help them calm down or sleep but to see you dance was... mesmerising.
The dance had no particular story or rhythm but you still looked beautiful. You were just Laughing and spinning around. Your (h/l) (h/c) hair trailed after you like a set of beautiful ribbons each intertwined with beautiful flowers of red, blue and yellow. Water droplets that you kicked into the air resembled crystals as soon as the light hit them. And when you ran onto the bank to dance some more, the speckled light just danced across your skin. It was as if you were dancing with nature itself.
"She looks beautiful" Sabo whispered now red in the cheeks.
"Yeah... F-for (y/n) anyway!" Ace whisper-yelled back. Now equally as red as Sabo.
"OI (Y/N-" Luffy began only to be tackled by Ace and Sabo.
"SHHHHHH LUFFY" they whispered "We don't want her to catch us watching her dance"
"But I wanna do the weird movements with her too" he sulked
There was a bit of rustling from the bushes and then you popped out.
"G-Guys? Is that you? What are you all doing here? Wait, what's wrong with Luffy?" You walked towards them a hint of worry in your voice.
'How long have they been here? They weren't watching me were they? Please just let me die!' You internally cried as you walked through the bushes still bare foot and kneeled next to Luffy.
Behind you Ace and Sabo made clear gestures to Luffy not to tell you anything they just saw. He was silent for a bit, then nodded.
"I'm ok (y/n)! I just wanted to play that weird game you were playing in the water as well! But Ace and Sabo wouldn't let me go" he smiled.
Ace and Sabo face palmed and you died internally. You couldn't even look Luffy in the eye at this point, so you stared at the ground.
'They saw me making a fool of myself!!! Luffy even thought it was weird... I'll never be able to dance again' you cried internally.
"(Y/n) you looked so cool! Can you teach me to do the weird moves!?" Luffy continued smiling, completely oblivious to the situation.
You're head shot up and you looked at Luffy.
'He thinks I looked cool?'
"Luffy! You idiot! We told you not to say anything!" Ace yelled
"And we already said that she was dancing. Also the word you're looking for Luffy is not 'cool' it's beautiful" Sabo corrected.
You were red now.
"Oh come on Sabo! She wasn't beautiful she was mesmerising at the very least! You couldn't take your eyes of off her" Ace teased
"Well neither could you Ace!!!" Sabo retorted
"Can I do the weird moves as well (y/n)?" Luffy asked
"ITS DANCING LUFFY!" they both yelled.
You were probably as red as the flowers in your hair, but you couldn't hold back anymore. You burst out laughing from their antics and they all stopped to watch you. Even at this age they were able to appreciate the sound of your laughter.
"There's nothing to learn Luffy you just move your feet in the way that feels right!" You smiled
"Let's give it a try shall we?" You grabbed his hand and gently tugged him towards the stream.
You moved your feet and he copied messily. Soon you were both dancing your own dances in the stream. Ace and Sabo were about to sit down and get comfortable until you and Luffy splashed them both with cold water. To say you made a big mistake was accurate.
They chased after you for ages, all of you trying to get the other person wet. Ace caught Luffy and dumped him in a shallow part of the stream. He screamed and wailed but Ace made sure that Luffy learned his lesson. On the other hand when Sabo caught you and squealed as he poured cold water down your back.
"Sabo!" You wailed crouching on the bank.
"You had it coming (y/n)!" He laughed at your shivering form.
He knelt beside you. "Hop on! I'll carry you back"
"Really?" You said in disbelief. You were taller than Luffy but you were only a few centimetres shorter than Sabo.
"Yeah sure. Just try not to move too much" he smiled.
You snatched your bag and shoes and hopped on to his back. At first Sabo spun you around a couple times and acted like he was going to drop you. You laughed and held him tighter as your legs dangled in the air. He laughed as well then started making his way back to the tree house.
About half way there you took off his hat and placed it on your head. You then rested your chin on his head and messed with his short blond hair. Sabo's face was so red but you couldn't see that from where you were. The whole way back Luffy was begging Ace to carry him and in the end he did.
'I love these guys. What would I do without them?'
