Wedding Day

Since 5AM everyone has been running around getting ready for the big day. Aubree woke up with a hug smile on her face, ready to marry the love of her life. While Chris on the other hand, had cold feet. It was now 3 hours until their big day. Everything that has happened recently replayed through his mind. He really wants to believe that Aubree was drugged but there's another part of him that feels like this only happened because she was drunk and irresponsible. He loves Aubree more than anything, there's no doubt but he until he can prove these drug accusations, he doesn't trust her.

Running his hand over his forehead Chris exhaled. Those cold feet were joined with him feeling sick to his stomach. Standing up from his hotel bed, he walked over to the balcony doors and opened them. The clouds were dark, looking like a storm would hit the city, even though rain is slim in California.

He thought maybe that this was sign.

A knock echoed through his room, Chris looked over his shoulder before sighing and walking back inside. "Who is it?"

"Mijo, nigga what you in here doing? The wedding start in the hours."

Chris put on his best poker face, before opening the door. "My bad, I was on the phone." He climbed in the barber chair. His eyes locked on the garment back with his name on it, then over to the box with Aubree's wedding band in it. A million questions ran through his head.

"So how you feeling bro? You excited?" Keeis asked.

"Yeah...I am." He answered. Even though those words left his lips, his face read something else causing his friends to look at each other.

Hoody chuckled. "You sure? You looking really pale over there."

"I think I ate something bad last night."

"Daaaamn nigga about to be at the alter with the BG's." Mijo said causing everybody to laugh.

"I'm good."

"Chrez about to be tied down for the rest of his liiiiife! I'm happy for you. Bree a real one dawg." Sinko said. "I know I wasn't the best when I first met her, I don't know why but that sis. You did a good job."

"Thanks." Chris answered almost too low for them to hear.

"Where y'all honeymoon at?" Keeis asked.

"Somewhere in Africa."

"Damn that's lit. That's a long ass flight though. I couldn't sit in one spot for basically a whole day."

"We took a 14 hour flight before, it wasn't that bad." Chris bit down on his lip thinking of what they did to keep themselves occupied.

"Just from the look on yo face y'all didn't sit in them seats for 14 hours." Hoody said.

"We had a private jet...we used the bed more than the seats."

"I'm shocked Bree ain't pregnant again. Y'all some fucking horny ass people." Mijo said.

"When it's good you want it all the time." Chris said but in his mind having sex with Aubree is the last thing he wanted. His mood instantly switched again and he was back not wanting to do this.

"I'm pissed this nigga ain't have a bachelor party." Keeis said. "That night would've been lit."

"As hell." Hoody added. "Bro wanted to chill with the babies though so I respect that. We can definitely turn up tonight at the reception. Y'all know this bougie ass couple on got Ace of Spade and Dom P being served?! I asked this nigga where the Henny at, where the patron at? Shit I'll even drink Dusse!"

"Nigga it's that kind of liquor down there. But this a different type of celebration hood rat, you drink champagne. Save the Henny and Patron for the clubs." Chris said.

"We going to the liquor store as soon as they say I Do."

"Alright y'all, we gotta start getting ready." Keeis stood up. "We'll see you in a few C."

Chris nodded.

Everybody left out but Hoody.

"What you doing?" Chris asked.

"I wanted to talk to you while everybody was gone."

Chris sighed while licking his lips then looking up at Hoody. "About what?"

"How you really feeling....you telling us you good. But your face and energy saying everything but that. This ain't the same C from a couple months ago. All you talked about was this wedding. I got a feeling you dealing with more than cold feet."

"Omari I'm good bro."

"Nigga it's me! You ain't gotta lie to me."

"You all done Chrez." His barber said. Chris climbed out then chair then dug in his pocket, pulling out a knot of money. He pulled out 1,000 and handed it over.

Once his barber packed up and left he sat on the couch instead of getting ready like he was supposed to.

"It's because of this shit with Tori and Rico ain't it?" Hoody asked.

"I wanna believe this drug shit but something in my head is just telling me this shit happened because Aubree was irresponsible. And all I keep thinking about is her getting too drunk again and she ends up cheating on me again."

Hoody exhaled. "I don't even know what to say to you man. I want to you that Aubree ain't like that been then again how do we really know. I ain't saying she a shady person but when you got a bunch of liquor in you, people can do fucked up shit. It's her bachelorette party, none of her friends looked out for her. Maybe she didn't get drugged."

"I'm just so torn from all this shit. Like we just set shit straight yesterday and now we getting married. My mind not fully clear from everything. Part of me wants to grab my shit and bounce but the other half of me doesn't want to do her bold like that."

"Well the wedding starts in a couple hours Chrez, you gotta do something."

Chris ran his hands over his face. All this stress was breaking him slowly.

"What's it gone be? You staying or you gone stand at the alter and marry the woman you love?" Hoody.

Chris looked up at him then back at the floor.

"Oh my goodness Aubree, you look gorgeous honey!" Mama J said to her future daughter in law.

Aubree stared at her dress through the mirror.

She cracked a smile.

Her dress was simple but the diamond necklace Chris brought her the diamond head band that held her veil would make it stand out.

Aubree was nervous. She knew that this day was close to being cancelled and even though Chris said he forgave she knew he was still hurt. Something in her spirit didn't feel right. She felt like today should be more joyous. She is happy but she feels like she should be happier.

Looking out at the sky her face frowned. "Is it supposed to rain today?" Aubree asked.

"No I think just cloudy." Raven said. "It feels amazing though."

Aubree nodded. "How much time do we have?"

"An hour before we head out to the church."

"Okay, we can get a few pictures then. Has anyone talked to Chris?"

"I text him earlier this morning." His mom said. "He was eating breakfast."

"Alright....I hope they're dressed. He can't be ready on time for nothing." Aubree shook her head. "Okay, um everybody we can head out to living room for the pictures."

Her bridesmaids grabbed her train to help her up the couple steps in the family room. When they got into their living room Raven started making sure Aubree was straight. "You look so pretty best friend." Raven said. "I've been trying my hardest not to cry because I don't want you to cry. We all know you're sensitive."

Aubree laughed. "Yes, please don't cry."

"I'm not, I can't promise at the wedding though. Weddings always make me cry."

"Me too."

"So how you feeling?"

"Nervous....very nervous."

"Everything will be fine. I bet Chris can't wait to see you."

"I can't wait to see him either." Aubree smiled. "I kind of want to call him just to hear his voice. Is that bad luck? I just want to make sure he knows that I love him."

"I don't think that's bad luck."

"Good, I'll call after the pictures."

"Okay."

"Can all the bridesmaids gather over here." The photographer said.

"Showtime." Raven said before hurrying away.

Aubree stood back and watched as they took their pictures. Their simple cream and gold dresses were elegant and beautiful. Each top was different, she had them made to fit their styles.

An arm wrapped around Aubree. She looked over at her mom. "Hi mommy."

"You look so beautiful. I wish your dad and Maine was here to see this."

"Ma...please don't that." Tears instantly clouded her eyes but Rachel blotted them away.

"I'm sorry. Im just so happy for you Bree. And I'm so happy that I'm here to experience this. Chris is amazing and he loves you so much. You guys have a long road ahead of you."

"Yeah."

"More babies too? I need another grand boy to even it out."

Aubree chuckled. "Maybe in a few years. Caiden has to become a little more independent. I can't take care of two babies."

"I understand. Just imagine not having a choice. I had a panic attack when I found out about the twins. But when they were born it wasn't that hard."

"Jeremiah can have the twins because I can not and I will not."

"You never know. It could skip you guys though and hit your kids. But it's never usually the twin that ends up with twins. So it's up to you Ariel, a million years from now."

"Right!"

"But anyway, enough baby talk. I saw the nervousness in your face, I just wanted to tell you that I love you and everything will be o—."

Before she could finish the front door opened.

Aubree looked over and when she saw who it was her heart instantly sank. "Chris." She said, while confused.

He looked at her and smiled.

"Chris what's going on? Why are you here?" Joyce asked.

The bridesmaids looked at each other. The fact that he was dressed in a jogging suit, let them know why he was there.

"Can I talk to you in private?" He asked Aubree, holding his hand out.

She nodded while taking off her veil then grabbing his hand. Chris helped her upstairs to their room. Sitting on the bed, Aubree let out a shaky breath while he locked the door.

"I knew this would happen." Aubree said before he could say anything.

Chris's nose grew red as he looked down at his shoes. "I tried....I tried so hard Aubree but I can't. Everything that has happened has really fucked me up."

"But I-i thought we were good...yesterday we were good." Tears ruined her flawless make up.

"Aubree we have no proof of you being drugged. This could all just result from you being reckless."

"But Chris, Ive been super drunk before and that hasn't happened to me! They had to do something to my drink!" She yelled.

"What if they didn't Aubree and you just fucked then willingly. You blacked out from too much alcohol."

"No...NO!"

"We have no proof. If we're going to go with you being drugged I need proof. But we can't get that. Cause the night after it happened, you came home, looked me in my fucking eyes and lied to me."

"Because I was scared."

"But we could've took you to ER and got a rape kit done. At least we would've known what happened. If you was drugged or not. I can't go based off the word of other people.....I don't trust you Aubree."

Her heart crushed even more to hear that.

"Everybody basically forced me to forgive you but I don't. I'm not ready to....not yet!"

"You're being selfish Chris."

"Am I?!"

"YES!" She yelled so loud the veins in her neck stuck out. "You get to be mad forever but when you decided to do drugs and put your hands on me I had to put my feelings to the side to help you get back on your feet. When you dumped me because you were worried about how everybody else would feel due to us sharing a sister, I had to push my feelings aside because you was finally ready to get back with me! I always make the sacrifices while you get to wallow in your pity!"

"What you did is way worse that anything I've ever done."

"BOTH SITUATIONS WERE FUCKED UP!" She wanted to put her hands on him so bad but that would just make the situation worse. "You know what." Aubree pulled the ring off her hand and gave it to him. "I treat you like a king and this is how you do me! Hundreds of people came here to see us become one and you just walk away. This shit is embarrassing."

"No, you fucking my worse enemy and his bitch is embarrassing."

Aubree shook her head. Picking up the train of her dress she walked into the closet. She quickly got out of her gown then grabbed something to slip on.

Grabbing her luggage she threw stuff in there. Then rushed and got Ariel and Caiden things.

"I do love you Aubree." Chris said.

"Leave me alone please." She was crying so much she could barely speak.

As she was walking out the door he stopped her. "You don't have to leave."

"I don't want to be anywhere near you." Aubree snatches away and walked out the room. When she went downstairs everybody tried to get answers out of them but she ignored them all. Aubree just grabbed her kids and walked out the door.

Chris eventually came downstairs. "I'm sorry y'all, but there won't be a wedding today."

"Duh dummy! What the fuck did you do Chris?!" Courtney yelled.

He just looked at her then proceeded out the door.

Chris sat in his car and looked at Aubree's ring.

He did the right thing....right?

Shaking his head he started the car then pulled off.

Aubree on the other hand sped through traffic trying to get far away. Tears clouded her eyes, as she dived in and out the busy roads.

Her heart was broken beyond compare.

Why would he get back up with her only to do this? She just didn't understand.

She was good to Chris. Yes she messed up but everything was good.

Her phone rung in her cup holder. Aubree glanced down to see who it was. She saw her brothers picture. She picked it up and tried to answer, while not paying attention to the road.

"MOMMY!" Ariel yelled causing Aubree to look up.

But she was too late.

A big moving truck crashed into the front of her car.

She could hear Ariel screams and Caiden's cries. Pain instantly hit her body.

Once the car stopped she groaned. There was a sharp pain in her stomach. Aubree managed to look down and the seat belt cut her stomach open.

Soon her breathing became shallow. She looked up in the mirror and the kids were fine.

"I....I can't....breathe." She managed to speak. Looking in front of her, a man stood out there panicking.

Her vision became cloudy and more cloudy as her chest tightened. Her eyes slowly shut.

"I'm sorry." That was the last thing she said.

...she was out.

Gasping, I jumped up, grabbing my chest. Expecting to be in a hospital but instead I was in a hotel bed. Looking around, at the safari decor my eyebrows furrowed.

"What the fuck?" I whispered.

My head turned out to the view.

Moving next to me, caused me to quickly turn my head. "Chris!"

He groaned before opening his eyes. "Look who finally woke after that long ass flight. I had to carry yo ass off the plane. Don't know why you took those sleeping pills." He laughed.

"What?!"

"After the wedding Mijo gave you sleeping pills and yo crazy ass took them."

"Wedding?!"

He looked at me like I was crazy. "You okay?"

"No." I quickly stood up. "I just had the craziest dream. You cancelled the wedding and we got into it, I rushed out the house and I got into an accident and I died...Chris our babies were in the back seat." Tears rolled down my cheeks. "It felt so real."

Chris quickly out the bed and held my face. "It was all a dream baby. I didn't cancel nothing, I was about to lose out in 500 thousand dollars. You're officially Aubree Brown now." He said causing me to smile. "See look at this." He lifted both of our left hands. The big diamond matching bands sat on our ring fingers. "We linked for life now."

Exhaling I rubbed my hands through my hair. "I'll never take another pill from Mijo." I laughed.

"Yeah, I should've stopped you."

"Yes." I wrapped my arms around his neck. "You're amazing, you know that?"

"Yeah but I like to hear you say it."

I rolled my eyes. "I'm serious Chris. I don't know what I'd do without you."

"I don't know what I'd do with out you either Bree. That's why I gave you my last name. You're mine forever." He kissed my lips. "I love you wife."

My smile was so big. "I love you more husband, now make love to your wife."

"Will do!"

Back in Compton, Rico and his boys stood outside of his usual spot. Tori sat on the porch, barely able to function due to the percs in her system.

Rico took a pill from his lace blunt. Staring ahead, he squinted at the sight of a blacked out Chevy Tahoe. The truck moved up the street and his eyes never left it.

As it got near his hand touch his gun but he didn't move quick enough.

Clips were emptied, the sound of the guns sound like firecrackers. Once they felt the job was done the Tahoe pulled off quickly.

Bodies scattered all over the front lawn and the porch.

And text was sent a burner phone to make someone aware that Rico and his bitch were gone for good.

Or so they thought.

Rico groaned, blood running out of his mouth.

He could hear the sirens. He looked over at Tori who was slumped on the step. As he tried to regulate his breathing he thought of who could be responsible and only one name popped in his head.

Chris.
