The Meeting
Chris, Aubree and Joyce sat in the living room of Chris and Aubree's home waiting for the arrival of the Guzman family. Today they were finally going to try and put these issues aside and focus on what's really important, Royalty.
Chris isn't too excited about having to share his daughter with people she doesn't know. But at the end of the day they are her family and he's tired of dealing with all of this unnecessary drama. All he wants is peace. His son will be here next month, they have a wedding to plan, it's a lot of other shit he needs to focus on.
Aubree was nervous, she knows that this could go very left, she knows how Chris can get, especially when he gets aggravated. He's very overprotective of his daughter.
Mama Joyce, got up from her seat and went to check on the food she was preparing. She knows that she created a disaster and from all the things she told Nia's family, they practically hate Chris and were at the point of no return. She knew that this would end bad and have her son hating her again. She hoped that they would listen and to everything she had to say and Chris had to say.
The doorbell rang, grasping everyone's attention.
Joyce walked out of the kitchen and opened the door.
"Hello Joyce." Nia's mom, Maria said walking into the house.
"Hello." Joyce returned the greeting. "You guys can follow me."
She took them Nia's mom and sister into the dining room. Aubree and Chris soon joined them.
"What is she doing here?" Maya asked, pointing to Aubree.
As soon as Aubree got ready to respond Chris pulled her behind him. "Before we speak on anything regarding my daughter, let's set some shit straight. Aubree is apart of her life. She knows Royalty better than the both of you. Next year she will be her step mother. One thing I'm not about let anybody in this room do is disrespect her. You can't be mad about me not being with a woman that isn't even alive. Aubree is going to be here whether you like or not. If you don't like it, you can leave. Simple." Chris said.
No one said anything so they took their seats.
"Is anyone hungry? I cooked." Joyce said.
"No." Maya and Nia's mom said.
"I am." Aubree said while getting ready to stand but Joyce told her that she'd make her plate.

"I'm not here to beat around the bush or have a family dinner." Chris said. "We're here to talk about Royalty and that's what we're going to do. My daughter is 5 and nobody has contacted me about seeing her until last year. I told you no because she doesn't know y'all. Now here you come trying to take my baby away. Let me tell y'all right now, that's not happening at all."
"How do you think a man like you is fit to raise a child?" Nia's mom asked.
"I've did it for five years. She's perfectly fine. When Nia died nobody cared about my child. I had to do everything on my own with my mothers help. Y'all didn't care about Royalty!"
Aubree rubbed his leg, knowing that he was getting aggravated just like she predicted.
Joyce returned with Aubree's food. "Can I say something?" She asked. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have came to Maya and Maria and told them things about Chris. Everything I said was out of anger due to a situation that Chris and I had. My son is an amazing father and Royalty should not and will not be taken away. The point of this meeting was for us to come to common ground. Arguing is not going to fix anything."
"It's too late to fix anything Joyce. You came to me begging that I took Royalty. You said that Chris was dangerous and crazy and he had this...this...whore raising my granddaughter." Maria said.
"Whore?!" Aubree said about to stand up but Chris pulled her back down in her seat.
"Look at how he handles her." Maya said while laughing. "Still that crazy son of a Bitch he been."
Aubree snatched away from Chris's grip and rushed over to Maya, hitting her in the face one good time before Chris pulled her back.
"What the fuck is you doing Aubree?!" Chris yelled.
"Move! I'm about to beat her and her mama ass!"
"No you not! Calm yo ass down, NOW."
"This don't make no fucking sense how stupid these bitches being! You trying to figure out something and they just being heartless." Aubree was fuming.
"Aubree relax baby. You know you can't be upset like this. Look just go upstairs alright. I'll figure this out. I'm good baby you don't have to even get upset like this. Nothing they saying is bothering me cause I know how I am with my daughter."

Aubree stared at Chris for a while before taking is advice to go upstairs. Chris exhaled and ran his hands over his face. That stress he thought was gone, was slowly coming back.
"I can't believe that bitch hit me!" Maya yelled.
"I told y'all from the beginning not to disrespect my fiancé. I'm trying my hardest not to be disrespectful or go the fuck off but I swear I'm about to go there and when I do, it won't be pretty. Like we keep saying the reason y'all here is to figure out something for Royalty. This ain't about me or y'all! It's about my fucking daughter. My momma told y'all that everything she said was out of anger. I don't bring my outside life around my child! I barely yell at royalty so she don't see me being crazy. I'm a good father and y'all don't have to believe me but I know what the fuck I am. So this is what's going to happen, after y'all meet Ro and I see that she's comfortable, we can set something up. Maybe she can come over every other weekend IF that's what she wants then that's a done deal. If y'all don't want to agree to it, then everybody might as well get up and leave."
Maria and Maya looked at each other. They wanted to be in Royalty's life and they knew that keeping this feud up with Chris isn't going to make things better.
"Fine." Maria said. "That'll work. When can we meet her?"
Chris scoffed getting out of his seat and going upstairs to get Royalty. He still couldn't believe that this was happening basically five years later. They saw her as a new born but haven't seen her since then.
"Ro." Chris said opening the door.
She stopped playing with Ariel and looked up at her father. "Yes?"
"Come with me." He held his hand out and led her downstairs. They walked into the dining room. Royalty's eyebrows furrowed at the unfamiliar faces. "Princess, I want you to meet you grandmother and your aunt. This is your mother's family."
"Hi." Royalty waved shyly.
"Hello gorgeous." Maria said while holding her arms out, tears filling her eyes.
Ro looked up at her dad for reassurance and he nodded. She walked over to her grandmother and hugged her.
"We're going to get to know each other and spend a bunch of time together. Okay?" Maria told her.
"Okay."
Chris exhaled and more weight lifted off of his shoulders. One less problem on his plate.
He wasn't about to let them just take his daughter. Them spending time together was going to be a decision Royalty made. If she was for it, then Chris was. If she wasn't then they can just keep pretending like she didn't exist like they were before.
Maria and Maya spent a couple hours with Ro. She likes them. Before they left, they both wanted to apologize to Aubree but I told them to do that another day.
Once they were gone, everybody but Aubree ate, then I went upstairs to check on her. When I walked in the room, she was fast asleep. I kissed her cheek until she woke up.
"Wake up beautiful." I smiled before kissing her lips.
She stretched before sitting up and smiling. "You're happy, that's a good thing."
"After you went apeshit down there, I set some shit straight. I told them if Royalty wanted be around them then they could get her every other weekend once I feel comfortable with that but until then they Can visit her. She hung with them for a couple hours they clicked so that's a good thing."
"It is, I'm happy."
"Yeah now lets talk about you fighting while carrying my son."
"No disrespect but them bitches had me fucked up."
"I know that baby but you not supposed to be fighting nobody. I was going to handle it."
"I'm sure that fucked up jaw I gave her, handled it."
"They did calm down after that, that right hook something serious baby."
Aubree laughed. "Shut up. I didn't mean to turn up like that it was just a lot pissing me off. I know they probably think I really don't need to be around Royalty now."
"They actually wanted to apologize but I told them another day."
"They could've apologized. I needed to do the same. I want them to understand I don't play about my man though."
"I know you don't and that's why I love the hell out of you. You're amazing Aubree."
"You're AMAZING-ER!"
We both laughed before kissing.
"No more drama." I said while placing my forehead on hers.
"No more drama."
