Luke impatiently tapped his fingers on the kitchen counter while holding his phone by his ear. The slow beeps coming from the devise made him even more impatient than before.
"Hello?" the voice from the other line said and Luke sighed out in relief.
"Hey Dan" Luke said a bit too enthusiastic, coughing a bit to hide it after.
"Luke, what's up man?" Dan, Luke's boss, said in a questioning voice.
"Hey, so I can't come to work today, Leon is sick" Luke said, talking with fake disappointment.
"Oh, that sucks. But yeah, I'll just call in someone else, it's okay"
"Great man, thank you" Luke said, grinning widely at himself.
"Tell the little one I said hi, and hope he gets better!"
"Thanks, so I'll see you on Monday probably"
The two soon hung up and Luke smiled widely as he placed the phone back down on the counter. He skipped over to Leon's room and opened the door, walking in and seeing the small boy sleeping in his miniature bed.
Luke smiled before quietly walking over and lying down beside his son, making his feet dangle free outside the bed due to the fact that he's way too tall to be in this bed.
"Wakey wakey" Luke whispered and booped Leon's small nose. Leon scrunched his face up before burying it in his father's chest.
"No" Leon mumbled and Luke chuckled. The boy was 4 years old but slept like a teenager. He was cranky if you woke him up too early and if you didn't wake him up he could sleep until noon.
He took after his father, that's for sure.
"Yes, we're meeting Ashton and Peach today" Luke said and poked his son's sides, making the small giggle a bit.
Yeah, Leon wasn't sick, Luke just lied to his boss so he could meet up with Ashton today. It was a nice and sunny Saturday today and Luke would much rather meet Ashton than serve people at the restaurant.
"We are?" Leon asked and sat up in the bed. Luke nodded and Leon smiled, throwing his small body over Luke's, making his father let out a small 'umpf'. Luke curled his arms around his son and hugged him tightly, making Leon squirm around in his grip.
"Get up so we can eat breakfast" Luke said before getting up from the bed and stretched his limbs. Leon watched his father and did the same, stretching his arms over his head and let out a small yawn.
Luke smiled at his son before picking him up and throwing him over his shoulder, making the small one squeak out a giggle.
"Come on sleepy head, you're helping me make pancakes for breakfast" Luke chuckled and put Leon down on the kitchen counter. "Ingredients" he said and clapped his hands before pointing at Leon.
Leon enthusiastically counted up all the ingredients his father had taught him to have in their amazing breakfast pancakes.
Luke worked as a cook at a nice small restaurant in the middle of the city and even though he loved to cook and plate all those extravagant meals, nothing could ever beat cooking unhealthy and sloppy food with his son.
Luke let Leon whisk the batter and had to save both his son and the bowl from falling off the counter a few times. A few dramatic moments later, both boys were sitting by the table, happily eating the pancakes that Luke gave Leon all credit for making.
"Why do I have to play with Peach today?" Leon asked as he poked on his pancake with his fork. Luke frowned at the question.

"What do you mean why? Don't you like Peach?" Luke asked and leaned over a bit to lean on his elbows like looking at his son with worried eyes.
"Yes I do, but the boys at school are teasing me because I'm friends and playing with a girl" Leon said pouted while lightly stabbing the pancake. Luke frowned again.
"Who are teasing you?" Luke asked, his protective father figure showing when his voice became more stern.
"Two boys. They say that it's weird that I play with girls because boys shouldn't do that" Leon said and looked down at his lap. Luke bit the inside of his cheek before standing up from his seat and crouched down by Leon's.
"You know that's not true, right? Boys can be with girls and boys, it doesn't matter because it's not wrong. Those boys are weird for thinking it's weird" Luke said, mumbling the last part grumpily and Leon smiled, making Luke smile as well.
"You haven't done anything wrong, you know that right?" Luke asked and ran a hand through Leon's light brunette hair. "And you are an amazing little boy, did you know that?" Luke said again and Leon smiled, nodding his head before throwing his small arms around his father's neck and hugging him.
Luke smiled and hugged Leon back before leaning back to place a kiss on his son's forehead. Leon pulled away and grimaced at his father.
"Your stubble hurt my face" Leon said and patted the stubble on Luke's cheeks. Luke laughed and ran a hand over his cheeks to feel the stubble, making scratching sounds be heard.
"I'm not shaving yet though, the stubble makes me look grown up. Like a real and strong dad" Luke said, jokingly flexing his muscles before poking his son's sides again and Leon slapped Luke's hands away from him before jumping off the chair and running away while giggling loudly.
Luke ran after his son and chased him all over the apartment while both were laughing loudly. They were forced to quiet down though when getting a phone call from the grumpy man living right downstairs that told them to be quiet.
Luke hung up and grumbled a few bad words about the grumpy man, making Leon tell him off and Luke had to run a lap.
**
"Look left to right. Do you see any cars?" Luke said as him and Leon was about to cross the street. Leon did as told before shaking his head and looking up at his father. "Then we can go"
The two Hemmings walked over to the park and enjoyed the sunny weather spreading through the whole city. Luke let his tongue run over his lip ring as he fixed the position of his sunglasses over his eyes.
"Dad, you're so slow" Leon whined as he tugged on Luke's hand, trying to make his father walk faster, "Come on"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah" Luke mumble as he finished typing the text to Ashton, saying they were there, before placing the phone back in his pocket and walked faster, following his son's orders.
The two boys walked in the the park and closer to the playground. Luke smiled when seeing Ashton helping Peach climb up the climbing frame.
Without telling his father, Leon ran ahead and over to his friend. Luke picked up his pace to catch up with his son and they soon came running over to the Irwin's.
Ashton turned and laughed at the sight of the two Hemming's running over. Peach noticed and climbed down the ladder to greet Leon with a hug. Both Luke and Ashton smiled at the little ones.

It didn't take long for the small ones to enthusiastically engage in a conversation before running off to play further in on the playground, completely forgetting about their fathers and leaving them alone.
"Hi" Luke said and smiled small as he took off his glasses and hung them around his neck instead.
"Hi" Ashton said before cracking a smile and stepped forward, embracing Luke in a tight hug. Luke was surprised by the act but hugged back, of course. They pulled away soon after and just smiled at each other.
"So, you two were excited to come here" Ashton said and smirked as he looked at Luke and pointed at Leon who was a bit away. Luke chuckled and may have blushed a tiny bit.
"Yeah well, Leon thought I was too slow" Luke said and bit the corner of his lip slightly. Ashton laughed before nodding his head over to a bench, raising his eyebrows towards Luke in question of them sitting down. Luke nodded and the two fathers sat down on the bench in the sunshine.
"They are adorable" Ashton said as he watched Peach trying to help Leon climb up the swing. Luke chuckled at the sight and nodded.
"Yeah" he hummed, keeping his eyes locked with the wide smile on his son's face. "So relieved they don't have any problems with each other"
Ashton turned and furrowed his eyebrows together. "Problems with each other? They are four, how could they have problems with each other?" he asked and laughed lightly.
"I didn't think so either but apparently Leon is getting teased by some of the boys in preschool for being friends with a girl" Luke said and rolled his eyes as he turned to Ashton, seeing the honey-blond frown.
"Are you serious?"
Luke nodded and Ashton shook his head. "Is he sad about it?" Ashton asked. Luke smiled and shook his head.
"He was a bit bummed this morning when he told me but I really don't think he cares much about them since he talks about how fun he and Peach have all the time. He cares about his friends, not those who try to push him down"
Ashton smiled at Luke before nodding his head. "Such a cool little kid" he chuckled and Luke smiled big.
"You're looking cool today as well" Ashton said and looked Luke up and down. Luke did the same, a bit self conscious under Ashton's eyes. "No no, you look good" Ashton assured.
Luke breathed out a chuckle and smiled bashfully down at his lap at Ashton's words.
"You look good as well" Luke spoke and Ashton bit his lip while grinning widely, letting his dimples show.
"So, how did you get out of work today?" Ashton asked and Luke looked up at him, smirking small.
"I told him Leon was sick and I had to stay home with him and I just now realized what an awful father I am for using my son as an excuse to get out of work" Luke said and scrunched up his face when thinking about what he has done.
Ashton laughed and placed a hand on Luke's knee, making Luke feel small butterflies in his stomach. "We've all done it, no worries. I guess we're all selfish like that" Ashton said and squeezed Luke's knee.
Luke bit his lips before placing his own hand on his thigh and sliding it up and down before deciding to slide his hand down to lightly touch Ashton's hand with his fingertips.
Ashton sucked on his bottom lip before moving his hand to slowly place it over Luke's. Before either of the boys could enjoy the moment, their children interrupted them by calling for them, wanting someone to help them push their swing.
Ashton squeezed Luke's hand gently before removing it and standing up from the bench, making Luke do the same. The younger father cleared his throat awkwardly before they both walked over to the two shouting children.
"Why are you two shouting?" Ashton said and ruffled both children's hair, making Luke smile.
"Push, dad!" Peach said and held on to the chains while Leon did the same.
"What do you say?" Ashton asked and looked at his daughter.
"Please dad?" she said and smiled adorably up at her father and Ashton smiled before starting to push the two toddlers that shared a swing.
Luke stood by the side, enjoying the sounds of toddlers laughter and the sight of Ashton laughing at something his son said.
Luke could get used to this, for sure.
**
"No, you can't have a whole pizza by yourself, you'll never be able to eat the whole thing" Luke said even though his son was giving him the puppy eyes.
The Hemmings' and the Irwin's were currently sitting in a small pizza restaurant after been in the park for hours. It was mostly Luke whining about how hungry he was and Ashton had laughed before getting them all pizza.
"But dad" Leon whined, dragging out his words as he spoke. Luke held his stand and shook his head. He wouldn't spend unnecessary money just so he could watch his son eat one piece of the pizza and leave the rest to throw away.
"No, you can share with me. Or Peach" Luke suggested but sighed when seeing his son stubbornly shake his head.
"You can share with me Leon, would you like that?" Ashton asked and looked at the smaller Hemmings with warm eyes. Leon pouted before looking up at Ashton and nodding his head, agreeing to what Ashton said.
Luke smiled thankfully towards Ashton, making the older respond with a warm smile as well.
"Can I share with Luke then?" Peach asked and looked at Luke with big pretty green eyes. Luke smiled and nodded his head.
"Of course"
They ordered and got their food, eating happily while talking easily. Leon and Peach loved to inform their fathers about what they did in preschool and how fun they had painting with all different colors.
Leon was such an enthusiastic kid and him eating while talking always ended up with him dropping food out of his mouth.
Luke sighed and pursed his lips before cracking a smirk and wiping Leon's face from the greasy pizza.
"Luke?" Ashton asked after watching the adorable scene in front of him. Luke looked up with raised eyebrows, waiting for Ashton to tell him what he was thinking.
"You have some sauce right about there" Ashton said and pointed at his cheek. Luke hurriedly brought the napkin up to his face and wiped off the sauce, watching Ashton grin at him. Luke cursed himself in his head for being so childish and embarrassing.
"You're cute" Ashton said and laughed before helping Peach with her food.
Luke bit his lip and blushed badly, making his son look up at him and frown at his father's expression.
"Dad, why are you so red?" Leon asked and studies his father's face. Luke tensed up and blushed even more when seeing Ashton look up and smirk small.
"Shh, it's nothing. Now eat you pizza, yum" Luke said and placed yet another slice on his son's plate. Leon shut up right away and happily reached for the new slice and Luke could hear Ashton laugh softly from the other side of the table.
"Stop laughing at me" Luke said quietly and smiled slightly as he pouted up at Ashton. Ashton laughed once again because he just couldn't get over the adorable 21 year old father in front of him right now.
"I'm not laughing at you. It's just-- You're just really something Luke Hemmings, and I like it, it makes me happy" Ashton said and shrugged. Luke squirmed in his chair and smiled, biting his lip to try and stop his blushing.
"And stop making me blush" Luke murmured, looking down at his plate and played with his food.
"Nope, that I won't do" Ashton said and leaned his elbows on the table to place his head on his hands, smirking at Luke.
"And why is that?" Luke asked, raising one eyebrow daringly while smiling at the older guy in front of him.
"Because it's very cute"
