i say, placing a gentle kiss onto luke's lips. he giggles, his eyes closing, and pulls me closer to him, if that's even possible. i smile as i feel the stubble on his chin as he gives me another quick kiss, gripping gently at the hairs on my neck.

he whispers, those three words always seem to make my head spin when he says them. three simple words have such meaning, i think it's quite beautiful; the effect he has on me.

always, remember?i say. me and luke made this promise a while back when we first started dating; we'll always love each other. no matter what. cliché? very. but we don't care.

he smiles at me, nodding softly,

a comfortable silence fills the room, just luke snuggled up to my side. it's like a movie scene, our relationship. not that i mind.

but for some reason, i can't seem to remember how i got to luke's house in the first place. i ignore it, pulling luke closer and pressing my lips gently against his. he smiles into the kiss once again and i've decided those are my favorite types of kisses. the kind where he just can't hold back a smile and pulls me even closer to him, just trying to get as much contact as possible. i love those kisses.

luke speaks up. his voice cracks a little, like he's about to cry. i worridly nod, trying my best not to ask him why he's upset. he looks up at me, his eyes are glassy with tears that are threatening to spill.

my eyes shoot open and i arise from my bed, panick shooting through every vein in my body. my breathing is heavy and uneasy.

"what the hell?" i breath, running a hand lazily through my hair. i cringe a bit when i feel my forehand dripping wet with sweat. i sigh, resting my head in the palms of my hands and rubbing my eyes gently. it's then that i hear my doorbell ring. a couple times, actually. i groan, grabbing a random shirt and throwing it on quickly. i rush out of the living room, almost tripping in the process, but i make it to the door. i don't bother to look through the peep hole. i open the door, the sunlight blinding me for a couple seconds, making me mentally groan but physically shut my eyes, harshly.

"hi." a feminine voice says, "sorry about last time you came over. we were kinda busy." i shake off the blinding of the light and i'm soon able to see that its charlie; the girl who lives across the street. a tan boy stands beside her. he's actually quite cute. he has a cute button nose, which is the first thing i notice, oddly. his hair is either a dark brown, or black. i can't really tell. he has very plump limps and these dark brown eyes. he's wearing a black sweater, like one you'd wear in the winter while you're drinking hot chocolate, and a simple pair of black jeans and black vans. i give them both a polite smile and invite them in. they return the smile and step inside, immediately looking around. charlie is the first to comment on the absence of furniture.

"nice blow up mattress, dude." charlie says. the dark haired boy actually giggles at that. he has a pretty smile. he looks a bit familiar, but i can't quite put my finger on it.

i scoff, "yeah, yeah, i know. why no furniture, ashton? yeah, well, ashton spent all his money on this house and is broke as fuck so deal with it."

it's silent for a couple seconds, until the boy laughs and lays his arm lazily around my shoulder, "i like you," he says. he puts his right hand out for me to shake, which i do.

"i'm calum. that's my roommate, charlie."

"i'm ashton."

"i swear to god, all the gay people move here!" charlie exclaims, shoving a piece of popcorn into her mouth and leaning against the counter. i chuckle at her tomboy actions. charlie isn't what some would call a girly girl. she's very tan, not like calum tan, though, more like she spends a lot of time in the sun. she doesn't wear very much makeup-- she doesn't need it. she wears these thick, black glasses at the tip of her nose, which i find quite funny. she doesn't have her nails painted, i'm guessing because she bites them. i don't blame her for that, i do it too. she has her hair in a tight, slick back pony tail. she's wearing a blink 182 shirt and black skinny jeans that are ripped at the knees. last time i saw her, i only got a glimpse, but now that i fully see her, she looks older. she's at least seventeen, i think.

"what are you staring at, curly?" she mumbles, shoving two more pieces of popcorn in her mouth and scrolling through her phone. i open my mouth to reply, but calum cuts me off.

"hey, my boyfriend wants to come over. that cool with you?" calum asks, which takes me a bit by shock. calum doesn't really look like the gay type, in my opinion, but i don't bother him about it.

"depends. who's your boyfriend?"

"he lives next door to you." he shrugs.

"michael?!" i smile. so, this is michael's boyfriend.

"mhm, that's him." calum smiles, sheepishly.

i grin, nodding eagerly, "of course he can come over."

calum smiles and goes back to tapping his phone. i turn my attention back to charlie. she's still stuffing her mouth with popcorn. i let a laugh slip out my lips and, thankfully, she doesn't notice.

"how long have we been here?" charlie asks after a couple minutes of a comfortable silence. i shrug, not bothering to answer.

"holy shit, we've been bere for two hours." calum answers, chuckling softly. in all honesty, i've zoned out the past two hours. i can't stop thinking about the dream i had about luke. remember? what does that even mean? what am i supposed to remember?

"ash!" calum shouts. i snap back to reality and see his hand waving in front of my face. i chuckle and push it away.

"i said, we have to go. i got homework, and charlie has night classes. michael said he's still coming over. we'll come over tomorrow, since it's a friday, okay?" calum, i'm pretty sure, repeats.

"um, yeah, okay. see you guys."

"later!" charlie shouts, and they're gone just as quick as they came. the house falls silent, leaving me to my thoughts. i sigh, purely out of boredom, and walk aimlessly around the house. i sit down on the floor of the living room and just kinda stay there. i check the time on my phone. 5:48 p.m. geez, what time did i even wake up? i'm practically sleeping my life away!

my thoughts start to jumble up, but they soon lead me to the dream i had about luke. i really don't know how to explain it. what the hell does remember even mean? am i missing something? i don't know, but it's fucking with my head. i'm not gonna lie and say that i didn't enjoy the dream, because i did. a lot. but what confuses me is how i knew what luke's voice sounded like. it was raspy, but soft; comforting. his australian accent was thick and actually very attractive. i mean, who knows; maybe i just made up a voice and attached it to luke in my head. yeah, that's gotta be it. i've never heard the boy speak, sadly, i have no idea what his voice sounds like.

i'm pulled away from my thoughts as i hear my front door being banged on violently. my eyebrows furrow in confusion as i slowly make my way to the door. i stop midway and just go back and sit down in the living room. probably just michael being an idiot.

"just come in, damn it!" i shout. the banging immediately stops and the door opens and shuts and in comes michael, smiling like the dumbass he is.

"seriously? i could have been a robber!" he exclaims. i roll my eyes, "what robber knocks?" i ask, he shrugs as he sits beside me on the carpet of the living room. i don't bother to reply, i just lay back on the floor, resting my head in the palms of my hands. michael stiffs out a chuckle, laying beside me. it stays quiet for about 35 seconds, but then i speak up.

"i had a dream about luke." i whisper. michael literally jumps up and smiles so big. confusion, and a bit of relief, washes over me. i actually thought michael would have been upset with me having a dream about his ex boyfriend. i know i would if i was in his position.

"what? you did? oh my god, okay, what happened?!" he exclaims, his voice going higher than i've ever heard it go. it actually makes me laugh a little.

"don't get mad at me, okay?" i say. my voice is low, barely a whisper.

"yeah, yeah, just tell me what happened!"

i sigh, getting up off the floor to meet his gaze. he's practically bubbling with anticipation, which makes me chuckle lightly. i take a deep breath and just tell him. everything. from the kissing to the last thing he said; "remember."

michael stays quiet a couple seconds after i finish. his facial expression is unreadable, which makes me worry, of course. i open my mouth to say something, but he cuts me off. seems like everyone is doing that to me today.

"i, um, i- i have to go." he walks quickly towards the door, i start to panic and i immediately regret telling him about my dream. i follow him to the door.

"wait, michael, i didn't mean to-"

he stops and turns around, cutting me off, yet again. "you didn't do anything wrong. it's okay. i'll text you later, okay?"

"alright."

then he leaves. just like that.
