Chapter 28: Homecoming Lock Down?
I woke up to the bright sun shining through the window and the smell of bacon came from the kitchen downstairs. I was still a little sleepy so I slowly sat up and rubbed the sand out of my eyes. I finally realized that Lash...was gone and not only that but it was 2:30 pm.
"WHAT?!? HOW DID I SLEEPY THAT LONG?!?" I yelled fully awake now and jumped out of bed.
"Nice to see you're awake." Lash said walking in with a tray of food and a water bottle.
"Why didn't you wake me up?"
"You looked so peaceful when you were sleeping, plus I know that you really needed it; what with all that's been happening and stressing you out. Here you should eat." he said placing the tray down on the nightstand next to the bed.
"But...but...Lash."
"Please eat." he said not really demanding, but pleading.
"o...okay." I said sitting on the bed.
As I sat there eating Lash went and took a shower....this is it. Tonight Gwens' plan will take place, and I may never see Lash again until many years later. Lash came out of the shower wearing his nice pair of black formal pants. Then he started to get ready for homecoming, however he couldn't tie a tie so I walked over and stood in front of him to help.
"So this is it huh?" I asked as I started to work on his tie.
"Yeah...It is. So please stay here."
"I know, but I really want to be with you...plus your wearing the tie I bought you for our 1 year anniversary dinner date, that matched my dress." I said pulling on his tie but I didn't let it go.

"Mary..."
"Why? Why does it have to be this way?" I said feeling tears start to form.
"Mary. I'm sorry...I love you." he said hugging me tighter than ever before, squeezing my tears out.
We stayed like that until I was able to calm down and he had to leave...so I was left alone looking out my window just hoping and praying that everything will be ok. I decided to take a shower in hopes of washing away my worries and it did...until I got out of the shower, then my worries grew again.
"Star!" What are you doing?! Hurry and put on your dress!" The twins yelled at me as I walked out of my bathroom with a a towel wrapped around me.
"What?!? What do you mean? And what are you doing here?"
"Duh! We're here to get you and take you to homecoming." Amy said sitting on my bed.
"Lash going to meet you there?...That bastard. He should've came to get you...Oh well. We will take you...now where's your dress?" Ashley said walking to my closet.
"Wait!...I'm not gonna go to homecoming!" I said rushing to stop Ashley, while holding my towel from falling.
"Why not?...Did you and Lash break up again?!?" Amy asked with a gasp.
"NO! We didn't...it's just...I don't wanna go...so let's all stay here." I said stuttering a little.
"But Austin's waiting for me."
"Invite him over."
"Star what are you hiding?" Ash asked sternly as she looked through my closet.
"Nothing...It's just...It's complicated but we should stay here and not go." I said looking down at the floor.
"That's stupid...and you have such a gorgeous dress. So hurry up and put it on!" Ash said throwing my 1 year anniversary date dress at me.

"Wait!"
"Nope. If you don't put it on, we will put it on you!" Amy said with a creepy smile.
"But...But..."
"No buts!" Ashley said pushing me into the bathroom and blocking the door.
"You can't come out until you put it on." she said.
"Fine. I'll stay in here all night." I yelled through the door.
"Then we'll just have to put it on you!" Amy said and sure enough both of them came into the bathroom, forced me into the dress, grabbed my shoes, make-up, and hairbrush. Once all of them were put into Amy's purse, they grabbed my arms and dragged me to school...to homecoming.
Once there they did my hair and make-up and also forced me to put on the shoes. Then we headed inside, I want to find Lash. I have to tell him I'm here...no I have to stop him from throwing his life away! I found him standing and talking to Speed so I rushed towards him.
"Lash!"
He turned at the sound of his name obviously shocked.
"MARY!? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! I THOUGHT WE AGREED THAT YOU WERE TO STAY HOME?!" he asked wide eyed.
"I'm sorry. The twins dragged me here. I tried to stop them and get them to stay with me but they refused...But DO YOU HAVE TO DO THIS?" I asked fighting back tears.
"Come on." Lash said taking my hand and dragging me away from the dance and into a nearby classroom.
"Lash...please don't do this. I don't want to lose you." I said letting my tears fall.
"Mary." he said hugging me.
"I'm sorry." he said chocking on his own tears.
Then I felt him left my chin and kiss me. At first it was soft sweet one, but then I put my hands around his neck and his found my hair which made it a passionate kiss. Neither one of us wanted to let go, so the kiss lasted longer; but now it was a kiss of sadness.
Lash pulled back all to soon and rested his forehead against mine.
"I really am sorry for this." he said shaking.
I finally opened my eyes but my vision was blurred from all the tears.
"What do you mean?" I asked as he wiped my tears away with his hands.
Once my vision was clear, I could see that his body was outside the door in the hallway, but his head and hands were stretched to where I was; in the middle of the room.
"Wait Lash!"
"I'm sorry." He whispered before stretching back and closing the door.
I rushed to the door in enough time to hear him lock it from the outside.
"LASH!...LASH PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!!!" I begged grabbing, shaking, and twisting the door handle as I also banged on the door.
"I'm sorry Mary....this is the only way for me to protect you." he said with a weak voice, then after a few seconds of silence I heard him step away from the door.
"LASH! LASH....PLEASE DON'T GO!....DON'T DO THIS....DON'T LEAVE ME ALONE...I love you." I said sinking down to the floor as his footsteps faded away. I cried with my head in my hands as I was on the floor hoping this was all just a bad dream and I would wake in Lash's arms.

A Castle in a Teacup
One might say that to anger forces beyond the ken of fragile breakable mortals is a bad idea, others might say that meddling in dark forces with little chance of gain is also a bad idea, they would both be right by on all counts but they forget to mention also how incredibly stupid combining both of those things are. Stupid people don’t last so long on the mystic side of things, normal folks who wander over to the other side have a tendency to do one of two things, either A. figure out that the best thing to do is keep their head down and not draw attention from any entity that refers to humanity as “you mortals” , or B. something horrifying happens to them. As you may have guessed I fell into the second category, mostly because I thought there was a third option. See I though there must be an option C, an option where I got to end up not as some shitty back ally wizard cowering at the chance of discovery, praying that one of my wards or spells wouldn’t be noticed by something that goes bump in the night. No I would be the one who rose above all that. I would never have to be afraid. Well I made a good attempt at it that’s for damn sure, but unfortunately for me it turns out there is not an option C. At least not for me…
