Chapter 17: Listen to my Heart or Brain?
The next morning I was woken up by Amy jumping on top of me.
"WAKE UP! LET'S GO!" she yelled.
"Why do you insist on jumping of me?" I groaned into my pillow.
"Because it's fun...Duh!" she said laughing while still jumping on me.
"Well I can't get up and get ready if you're jumping on top of me." I told her.
"Oh!" she said stopping.
"You really need to think things through sis." Ashley's voice sounded from the doorway.
"Sorry." Amy said finally getting off of me.
"It's ok. But must you two always break into my house and into my room everyday?" I asked getting out of bed and grabbing some clothes.
"We don't break in!" Amy said.
"Your parents let us in." Ashley finished.
"You've broken in before when my parents where out of town on a mission." I said heading into my bathroom to change.
"That's besides the point." Amy said cheerily.
"Whatever." I yelled through the door. I finished changing and then started brushing my teeth as the twins looked through everything in my room. As I was brushing my hair they decided to head downstairs and eat all my cereal. I put a little make-up on grabbed my bag and just ate an apple for breakfast then the twins and I headed for school. Even though they are annoying they come in handy with their flying.
We got to school and as always fixed our hair in a bus mirror before walking to the front entrance. I stopped when I reached the stairs when I heard Lash's laugh. I turned to see him Speed picking on Ron, the bus driver for the freshmen. I clinched my hands into fist as I saw him toss Ron's hat into a mud puddle laughing as he walked away with Speed. When he saw me he stopped in his tracks, I got so angry and turned and ran to my locker.

I know why he's doing this now but it still hurts when I see him doing it. I wish he didn't do it at all, I don't care if he's doing this to protect me. It hurts worse this way. I told myself holding back my anger and tears as I got to my locker.
"Mary....You ok?" Lash's voice asked from behind me, he sounded a little out of breathe.
"I'm fine." I said wiping a few tears that manged to slip.
"Mary." Lash said softly wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Lash please...don't." I whispered leaning my head on my locker.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't think you would see...I didn't want you to see. I thought you would show up after. Please Mary I just want to keep you safe." he whispered back squeezing me tighter.
"I know that...but...it still hurts."
"I realize that...I'm sorry. I need you to bare with it for a little longer....I know how about I make it up to you tonight? Picnic in the park at our tree? I'll cook." he said resting his head on my right shoulder.
"Depends what are you going to cook?" I asked without looking at him.
"Whatever you want?" he said happily kissing my cheek and holding me as tight as he could.
"Then I guess I can't stay mad at you." I said turning around in his grip so that I was facing him.
"Thanks." he said before giving me a sweet kiss, he was about to pull away but I wrapped my hands around his neck and kissed him back.
So many thoughts from different people flooded into my head. Some saying they are happy for us, others saying he could do better than me or that I could do better. I just ignored them because none of them mattered. What matters right now is Lash.

"Hey love birds enough of the PDA. That's gross, I'd like to keep my breakfast down if you don't mind." Ashley said walking up to us. We broke apart but he kept one arm around my waist.
"Sorry." I said blushing from embarrassment.
"Whatever...let's just head to class." she said walking away with Amy by her side.
"See you at lunch?" Lash asked removing his hand.
"I hope so." I said poking his nose.
"Ok. Love you!" he said kissing my lips softly than leaving as I followed the twins.
"I'm glad you're happy Star but...do you really think it's best to stay with Lash?" Amy thought.
I sighed as Ashley said bye and headed to her class leaving Amy and I alone to walk to our class.
"Amy please don't." I whispered as we got to our class.
"Why not?....Do you not know yourself?" her thoughts continued.
I sighed and slammed my head on our lab table. Is this really best? Maybe she's right, but I love him and trust him...I know he's not lying...but it does hurt so much staying with him like this. I mean I know that Amy means well and is just trying to look out for me but I really don't want her or anyone else interfering. This is my decision...but what do I do listen to my heart or to my brain?
"Sorry for saying anything." she said sitting down next to me.
"You didn't say anything." I mumbled not lifting my head up.
"You know what I mean....let's just get this class over with. Well talk later about it ok." she said opening her book and I sighed again. This was going to be a long day.
