Chapter 15
--------------
The emergency council of council of seven was in session. The council of seven as it was commonly known as was the US werewolf council. These seven Alphas literally controlled all of US territories.
All of them were grim faced, weary from an overnight journey, rushed over to Lockbourne territory for this emergency meeting.
"Roma has made its intensions clear. Not that they were hidden to begin with, they plan to take over our territories and establish a monarchy." Gordon stated, well in to the meeting.
To go to war with Roma he needed their support and he intended to get that today.
"How?" Alpha Logan asked. Logan was the only powerful opponent to Lockbourne, the others would fall in line with whoever won this argument.
"Well they have taken over Colorado and now they have slaughtered the Montana pack" Lockbourne said.
"Colorado is your mess Lockbourne" Logan stated. "Not sure why we dilly dallied in helping out Nick and the others and I don't see any land being captured in Montana?"
"They killed the entire pack!" Lockbourne spat with anger.
"In retaliation to taking her parents out, World war I started because someone killed the king's nephew. You fuck with a monarch bad shit happens and by the way none of us were kept in loop of such actions. You cannot take out one of the world's most powerful family's relations out without keeping us in loop and then expect to back you up when things go south" Logan argued.
"They infiltrated the pack lands! Then sent in assassins! We had captured and killed them!" Lockbourne bit out.
"It would have served us better if you would have caught them alive, we have no proof except a camera footage of folks entering a room, their faces conveniently covered. We can never prove that it was them." Logan countered.
"Who else would enter Patrick's territory with guns? Guns are Roma's signature weapons."
"And yet someone took out Prince Maxwell and his mother with guns" Logan pointed out.
"I want my cousin's death avenged!" Lockbourne yelled wildly in raging anger.
"Justice, Lockbourne" Logan calmly said "you started off with justice and now you want vengeance? They are two different things, I will not partake my men in some foolish family feud which you should not have started to begin with." Logan countered "However, I will help you get justice" he said looking pointedly at other alphas who were silently sitting at the table.
"Justice?" Lockbourne asked incredulous.
"Yes" Logan said calmly "Let's assume that Roma sent in people to take out your cousin, let's just assume for the sake of argument while we don't have any concrete proof. You should have retaliated proportionately, take out Nick or even her but taking out her parents was low blow...even for you, of course you would make her react the way she did and what I don't understand is if she could wipe out a pack this way, the way she did, why did she bother sending assassins in stealth at all?"

"Do we know how she did this, how she wiped out Patrick's pack?" one of the alphas broke silence.
"Not sure, we found lot of bullets and buildings destroyed which we can only assume damaged by some heavy duty explosives." Alpha Collins responded. He was the first one to be on the spot, Gordon has woken him up in the middle of the night all panicking and rushed him there.
"Silver?" one more alpha asked, referring to the bullets.
"No "Collins responded "one of my betas did some time in the Army, he told he these were heavy duty, non-commercial, which means you can't buy them off the shelf."
"Normal bullets did this damage to wolves?" One of the other alpha's asked. Werewolves could head pretty much from all bullet wounds except a close range headshot and even for that you needed a pretty strong bullet.
"As I mentioned these are not your run of the mill bullets, my guy told me these had explosive tips. So when it enters your body it explodes inside your body for maximum damage. He told me such bullets are usually found on mounted chain guns...whatever that means." He had been too distracted to get it clarified further.
"So, Roma has weaponry which is out of reach for us and she can use it on us as she sees fit. She wiped out one of our largest pack, so I am assuming having superior numbers doesn't mean shit. Even if we combine our numbers and throw everything we have at Colorado there is no guarantee of a victory" Logan summarized.
Lockbourne stilled, his eyes turned to slits and asked in violent rage "So we do nothing?"
"No" Logan reassured "We definitely do something about it, let's take this to the world council, the case is clearly in our favor, lets highlight the dangers of Roma being present in our lands and convince the world council to ensure that Roma exits USA for good. Roma will be backed in to a corner on this and once we have Roma return Colorado to us...then vengeance Lockbourne is yours to plan" Logan said "Remember Lockbourne...vengeance is a dish best served cold. Hit Roma when she least expects it, where she least expects it" Logan said placing a reassuring arm on Lockbourne shoulders "And I will personally vouch that when that time comes I will persuade everyone here to support it. But first, the top priority is to get Roma off our lands from where they can launch an offensive at any one of us and we have seen it quite clearly how deadly it can be."
All the alphas murmured in agreement. Vengeance was fine and dandy but all of them had their own packs to look after and Roma was a clear and present danger they needed to get rid of. Logan made a strong case with them, first get rid of Roma from USA and then do what you want.

"And besides" Logan said slowly "Protect your family first Lockbourne, you don't have many of them left. Wouldn't want Roma going after them now do we?"
Lockbourne slumped in his chair. He realized he had not thought this through very well, when Logan indicated about his granddaughter he realized she was the only family he had left and intended to protect her at all cost. Logan was right, he needed to think this through.
"All right" Lockbourne satiated "Lets break up for a few hours and reconvene" he said looking at the alphas "we have assigned rooms for all of you, my men will take you to them if you intend to get fresh or take some rest, we can reconvene for lunch"
All alphas acknowledged and got up, discussing among themselves.
Logan stayed behind and when the room was empty he said in a soft voice to Lockbourne "I am not your enemy Lockbourne, at least not in this case, I vow on my honor I will support you on your quest to get back to Roma but let's do it carefully...thoughtfully"
Lockbourne looked at Logan, saw the sincerity in his eyes "I appreciate it Logan, I know you drove overnight, please get some rest"
Logan nodded and walked out. Leaving Lockbourne to his thoughts.
Lockbourne sat in his chair for about ten minutes absorbed in his own thoughts and then yelled out to one of his men "Get Will in here" Will has his beta, his second in command.
A few moments later Will rushed in "you called boss?"
"Yes, ensure the alphas have nothing left wanting?" He instructed.
"Sure boss" Will reassured.
"And...I want you to send out men to protect Serena...How many men we have there right now?"
"We have fifteen men boss...you know how she feels about that..." Will tried to put in.
"I don't care...right now her safety is important then her feelings..." Lockbourne interrupted "fifty..." Lockbourne said "I want fifty men on her ASAP"
"Boss..she will be unhappy" he cautioned.
"Tell her either she suck it up or I will drag her back to the pack and lock her up...her choice, you understand?" Lockbourne said, leaving no room for argument.
"Sure boss, will do it" Will snapped in attention, knowing when to give in. The girl would not be happy. Not that she was happy with the pack anyways, that is why she lived off the pack most of her life.
Will stepped out of the room having received his order and Lockbourne got up walked out and poured himself a drink and after emptying it in a single gulp he dialed an all familiar number.
"Sir" David, the world council enforcer answered.
"I want you to ready your men, Roma violated the treaty by attacking Patrick Lockbourne's lands in USA" Lockbourne said.
"Sir...You do realize for us to mobilize we need the majority vote in the world council?" David said cautiously.
"I know that David, I am saying it might come to that and when it does...I want your men ready."
"Sure sir, I will have our men ready for any eventualities" He reassured.
"Good" Lockbourne said and hung up.
He then called another number.
"Good morning sir" the voice responded. He was the administrator of the world council.
"I want you to call for an emergency session of the Council" Gordon ordered "Tell them this is their forty eight hours' notice" The chair of the council could call for an emergency session and it was mandatory for heads of each region to attend.
He hung up and called one more number.
"Charles" he greeted as the other person picked up the phone. "The alphas want me to drag Roma to the world council and us this to undermine their power and force them to exit from USA"
"A wise choice" Charles commented.
"I don't give a shit. I want the bitch dead!"
"What do you suggest?" Charles asked.
"I called for an emergency session of the world council. So she needs to be in Ontario in forty eight hours, see if we can do something in this window." Lockbourne asked.
"Is it what you want to do? May be curtailing Roma's powers through the world council is not a bad idea...and we could always try something after that." Charles suggested.
"Yes, but I have a feeling the bitch is going to be hard to find and for once in Canada she will be outside her comfort zone...well protected but outside her comfort zone...so if we see an opportunity I want to utilize it." Lockbourne explained.
"I will see what I can do" Charles told him.
"See that you do" and with that Lockbourne hung up the phone.
One way or other he would have her head.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

[On Hiatus due to health reasons] Synopsis: Fate has plans for everyone. There are many paths one can walk and many nodes one can unlock. Yet all mortal souls only start with one node. This has been the case for many years and while there are some records of people with more than one first node, these are as rare as wings on snails, roses made of air, or ropes made of dragon-hair. Elise Anker has two first nodes. She doesn't know why and the only one that could answer is an angry voice in her head. She hears it rarely and the voice is as helpful as a sword is effective against a Leviathan. She strives to become a mage, a knight or maybe something else entirely. The future is uncertain and unless she finds out what her nodes mean, she will never know what she wants to become. But her nodes won't unlock and the angry voice tells her that she needs to find a worthy foe to kill. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. I am also not a professional author. This is simply a rough draft and therefore subject to change. Furthermore, this fiction is rather slow-paced for a rather long time. But compare it to a bundle of dynamite, you wouldn't want that to explode right in someone's face, would you?
