After a about a month, Jackie decided that they all needed a break. By then, Jackie had John Jr. and Caroline, Audrey had Sean and Luca, and Grace had Albert, Caroline, and Stéphanie. Jackie called Audrey and Grace and they both agreed to have a Halloween party at the White House. The party was scheduled for the two days before Halloween, so that they could bring the children trick-or-treating.

Jackie, Audrey and Grace were getting ready in Jackie's dressing room. "So who did you invite?" Audrey asked, adding the finishing touches to her makeup. "Everyone but Marilyn Monroe." Jackie replied, half joking and half serious. People thought that Audrey and Marilyn were best friends, but they weren't. Audrey couldn't stand Marilyn from her short dresses that show way to much, to her pancake thick makeup and globs of red lipstick. Jackie added a little bit more hairspray to her bouffant hair. Grace added a small spray of Jackie's Chanel number 5, and they were ready to make their grand entrance.

There was already a huge crowd of people lining the bottom of the stairs and in the room. As Jackie was walking down the stairs, she scanned the crowed. There was no one that she saw that wasn't invited. She saw Frank Sinatra, she saw Bobby, Ethel, Eunice, and Sargent, she saw Lem Billings, who was standing next to Jack, senator George Smathers, Dave Powers, and her sister, Lee Radziwill. She felt so happy to know that there wouldn't be any drama at this party.

While Audrey was walking down the stairs, she was also scanning the crowd. Audrey saw Dave Powers, George Smathers, Lee Radziwill, the Kennedys, Lem Billings, Frank Sinatra, Jack, and Marilyn Monroe. Audrey thought nothing of it for a second, because she is so used to seeing her at movie premiers and parties. And then it hit her like a ton of bricks. Hadn't Jackie specifically NOT invited Marilyn? Audrey was freaking out inside and debating whether or not to tell Jackie because she didn't want to upset her, but she also wanted her to know. Grace also saw Marilyn. Grace and Audrey looked at each other. Jackie was still looking at the crowd, and before long, she noticed Marilyn too. She turned to Audrey and Grace with wide eyes. They made it down the steps, and quickly made their exit and went into the theater. "Oh god what do we do?" Jackie cried. "Tell secret service?" Audrey suggested. "No. You need to tell Jack and then he can handle it. Right? I mean come on, we all know he was the one who invited her." Grace stated. "Well, she could've came on her own. Jack very well could have invited her though. Ugh! I'm just so angry, I could scream!" Jackie exploded. "You have every reason to be angry, but you need to be calm about it. Just pull Jack aside, and tell him to get Marilyn out of here. Don't accuse him of anything, just tell him to make her go away." Audrey instructed. "Yes. And we will be here waiting when you come back." Grace smiled. So Jackie went out into the party and went over to Jack. She said to him, "Why on Gods green earth is Marilyn here? She needs to go away. I specifically instructed Tish to not invite her. Talk to the secret service, and have them take her somewhere else. I don't care where she goes, just not here." Jack answered, "Christ! I have no idea why she is here. I didn't even see her. Yes, I will go talk to Gerald Blaine and Clint and have them do something about it."

"Thank you" Jackie smiled. While Jackie was talking to Jack, Audrey turned to Grace and said " God I feel so bad for Jackie. It's one thing after another! She has had 3 babies die, her husband cheats on her, and she knows it. I just don't know how she does it!" Jackie came back, and brought Audrey and Grace to a tiny balcony over the ballroom, so that they could see Jack. Jack didn't do anything that he was instructed to do. They watched in awe as he got Marilyn lead her toward the theater. Jackie was praying that he was trying to handle the situation himself instead of the secret service doing it, but she knew better than that. They all knew what was going on. "Jackie, we need to do something about this." Grace suggested. "Okay. I will talk to him about it tonight. There no need to make a huge deal out of this now." Audrey and Grace decided to stay the night to be there for Jackie. It wasn't unusual to see Grace or Audrey at the White House because they visited often, and usually spent the night.
