Before we walk in the gigantic house, Louis grabs my hand. I look at him and he smiles. I return the smile, and we walk in.
The party looks a lot more like a fraternity party than a high school party. Music is blaring, girls are wearing dresses that are obviously way too short. Sweaty bodies filled with alcohol dancing everywhere. The house looks completely different from when I came here last time. Everything was in perfect order, then. Now, nothing has a place. No one has a place. Everything is scattered about. It's insane.
"You came!" I hear Emma's voice say.
I turn around to see her in the blue and black dress we went shopping for not long ago.
"You look better in that dress than you did when you tried it on, I promise you," Emma compliments me.
"Thanks, Em." I say and smile.
She sees Louis and glares at him, as if he's done something wrong... Has he? I don't think so... Louis has been nothing but nice since I've moved here. Louis's face stands emotionless. As is Emma isn't even there.
"Ashley! Oh my gosh you look amazing!" Emma tells Ashley.
"Thank you, Emma Lou." She jokes, "you look amazing yourself" she honestly says.
Both Emma and Ashley look stunning in the dresses we bought. I know this might sound really clichè, but I don't really know if I look that good in this dress. I know everyone says so, but mines so long. I just... I'm doubting myself, now. Its the truth.
"Let's dance," Louis says, as he brings me to the dance floor.
"I can't dance," I admit.
"It doesn't matter, everyone's drunk" he says.
He's got a point. Everyone is pretty wasted. I start out with small dances, then they start to escalate. None if my dances are sexual, but I do accidentally bump into a few people. I turn to look at Louis, but he's not there.
"Louis?" I call.
Great. I lost my date.
I move through the crowds of people trying my best to find Louis. I continuously call for him, but receive no response. I continue to look for him, until I realize I've gotten lost in this mansion. I find a set of stairs and climb them. My heart begins pounding out of sacredness. The stairs lead me to an empty hallway. Well, nearly empty. I see a blonde-haired boy at the end of the hallway, bottles surrounding him. Niall.
"Niall!" I call.
He looks up at me. His eyes are bloodshot. He has about Ten bottles of beer around him and one in his hand. Niall's blonde hair is a mess. His poor blue eyes show so much pain.
"Are you alright, Niall?" I ask him calmly.
"He brought her here," he says.
"Who, Niall?" I ask him.
"He had no right!" He screams and throws an empty bottle across the hall.
"Niall!" I yell with warning.
"Why?!" He yells, stands up, and bangs a beer bottle onto the wall, breaking it. Niall's face is filled with anger. So much anger I can't describe it. He falls down the wall and whispers, "Why, Claire? Why did he bring Demi? I guess that's why they call him what they do. Not because it's his last name, no that can't be the reason. It's because that's what he causes people to feel. You of all people know that Claire. You know that's what he inflicts on people. Pain. That's what Liam Payne does."

I'm shocked at Niall's words. He really likes this girl. He likes her so much he'd drink to ease the pain...
"Niall, you should get home-"
"Let me stay till midnight." He interrupts me.
"Why?" I ask him.
"I still want her to be my New Years Kiss." He tells me.
My heart shatters for this boy. He obviously loves this girl to pieces.
"Okay, Niall. Only till midnight." I say.
He hugs me, and says, "Thank you, Claire."
"You're welcome" I tell him.
"Go down there and have fun," he tells me, "I'll be alright."
I smile, "Alright, Niall. I'll be back after Midnight."
I go back downstairs, this time, not only looking for Louis, but for Liam and Demi aswell. I honestly have no clue where I am in this house. I scramble through the crowds of people. Where in the world could they be? Before I know it, I run into someone.
"I'm sorry," I say and look up at the stranger.
"Zayn?" I ask.
"Hi, Claire." He tells me, "You're quite the talk of the the town, you know?"
I'm a little shocked. This is the first time has ever talked to me. He's not much of a guy to put himself out there.
"I guess." I say, "This is a pretty small town."
"Right." He says and looks down.
Emma pops up next to him. "Zayn! I found you."
Zayn perks up and smiles, "Hello, Love." And kisses her head.
I smile. They're really cute. "Hi, Claire. Having fun?" Emma asks.
"Yeah, I'm just looking for a few people." I say.
"Who?" She inquires.
Should I tell Emma all who I'm looking for? Of course I trust her, she and Ashley are my closest friends here. But the way she looked at Louis earlier tonight makes me concerned. The way she acted buying dresses makes me ponder if I should say Liam.
"Demi? Lovato?" I ask
"Oh! She's with Payne outside by the pool. " Emma tells me.
"Thanks," I say with a smile.
"Welcome! Have fun!" She says as Zayn puts her arm around her, and they walk off.
One problem. Where's the pool? Smart, Claire. You were just talking to the girl who's lived here her whole life and you didn't think to ask where the pool was. I continue to search the house for the pool or Louis. I see people dancing and drunkenly singing popular songs. I look at the time. 11:00. I've got one hour to find Demi, get her away from Liam, and convince her to see Niall in a house I barely know. Great. I find myself in a crowd of people. I'm continuously being pushed around by a ton of strangers. Then, I spot a glass door. Through the glass door I see a perfectly blue pool. It has a few people around it and in it, but not nearly as many as there are in here. I squeeze my way through all of the people here, and make my way to the door.

I open the door and look around the pool. Most people out here are even more wasted than those indoors. I hope Liam and Demi aren't. I walk around the pool until I see the familiar pitch black haired girl from my English class, walking around holding hands with the tattooed filled boy in my wood shop class that I tutor. And that I kissed in his car, not so long ago.
"Demi!" I call.
She turns to look at me and gives me a confused look. I motion for her to walk over to me. She let's go of Liam's hand, and gives him a kiss on the cheek. I get this feeling inside of me. I can't tell what it is. I feel like my chest is on fire. Like, my eyes can't hold back anything. Like I can't speak. Like my world is about to collapse.
"Hey, you're that girl in my English class that sits next to Niall, right?" She asks.
"Yeah." I tell her, trying to pull my teeth apart, but I don't know if it's working. "Niall wants to talk to you, actually," I tell her.
"Really?" She asks, her eyes filled with hope, but her emotions quickly change, and she says, "I- I- I mean... Tell him I can't talk to him right now... I'm pretty busy."
"Sure" I say, "No problem."
My fists clench to where my nails are digging into my palms. I might aswell just forget about this and find Louis. So I say, "See you around, Demi." And walk off.
I see a lady holding a tray of beers. I take one and drink it down. Then throw the bottle on the ground as I walk inside. Niall was right about why they call him what they call him. There is no doubt in my mind about that.
I walk around the house in search of Louis. Any person I see with a tray of alcohol, I take one of whatever they have. My visions starts getting blurry. And I start feeling... different... Free. I find Louis sitting on a couch talking with Emma and Zayn.
"Hey, Claire!" Louis says.
"Heeeeyyy," I slur and hiccup.
"Claire, are you wasted?" Emma asks.
I shrug, "Pretty, I guess." I sit myself on Louis's lap. I need a distraction that means nothing, and For now, that was Louis. Of course I won't let it go too far, but I need that distraction. I need that nothingness.
"Claire you okay?" Louis asks.
"I'm perfect," I slur and peck his lips.
He looks back at me, eyes wide. I drunkenly giggle. He continues to talk to Zayn and Emma as I plant kisses on random parts of his face.
"Claire, let's talk. Now." Emma says and shoots up.
I stumble up and fall down. I start bursting into a drunken laughter-hiccup mixture I've never heard come out of me before.
"Claire. Now." Emma demands as she pulls me up and drags me away from Louis and Zayn.
"What is up with you?" She half yells.
I shrug, "I dunno."
"You're acting like I've never seen you act before. What is it? What happened?" She asks.
I look down... Do I really wanna tell her about what I saw with Demi and Liam? How I felt? I just start crying. I cry and cry and cry and cry. Emma engulfs me in a hug, and bring me up to her room. We sit in her bed where I cry some more.
"I saw him with Demi... I got this feeling that hurts so much and I don't even know why it hurts, Emma. I'm so confused I don't even know what to do." I tell her.
"You should know," she starts, "You're wasted, so it's not like you'll remember me telling you this in the morning, so screw it. I'm telling you."
"Telling me what?" I ask.
"Telling you the story of why Payne started talking to you in the first place." She tells me.
I stop and look at her, my undivided attention on her.
"When the Wolves first saw you, Liam said, 'I bet you by the end if the week she'll fall into my trap,' Louis objected, and said, 'No, I don't buy it. She's too tight. She has high standards. You don't stand a shot at this one'. Liam was offended by this and said, 'You think you could get her?' Louis saw this as a challenge, and said, 'I know I can, by the old fashioned way, politeness.' Liam didn't believe him, so , he started talking to you... I'm sorry, Claire. You got dragged into this. You really don't deserve this. Thing is, Louis actually now really likes you. Liam hasn't admitted to liking you, but he acts so... different when he's around you. You don't realize the affect you have on him. You honestly don't see how he stares at you from across the cafeteria, how he always makes sure you get off the bus, and I don't even know what happens in wood shop or your tutoring sessions. Now that you've moved here... He's different. In a good way... You should sleep here tonight. You can have my bed. Lay down." She tells me.
I lie down on her bed and she tucks me in like a mother would a child. She starts out the door, when I say, "Wait."
"Yeah?" She asks.
"Can you make sure Niall and Demi kiss at midnight?" I ask.
Emma laughs, "Somehow, I don't think I need to do anything for that to happen." She turns out the light, and before I know it, I pass out.

"Dis story gud!" -Some git "Read dis book!" -Warboss
8 207The Afterlife, And How To Survive It (Barely)
Larry Foulery's monotonous, directionless life changed drastically, when he got shot in the face. Reincarnated into a new world, where he has nothing to lose and everything to gain, and with the honor and dedication of an part-time fast food cashier, he is ready to face this adventure. Kinda. The story takes place in the cynical world of Afterlife, where status screens and are considered normal, and the rule of physics cry in a corner, because nobody cares about them, and they are alone and lonely, and their family hasn't called them in years. Anyways, have fun. BTW don't stare too long into the story cover. I get the feeling it stares back. I'm trying to improve my writing, so feel free to bombard me with criticism.
8 145People. Harmony. Dysfunction
[Hiatus]People are extraordinary. They are glorious, chaotic, imaginative, grim, all kinds of smart and driven. They are capable of living in harmony or incredible destruction. They can be both caring and loyal but vicious and self-centred. However, Olivia wished that the first year of her PhD didn't have to showcase quite so much of the melting pot. People. Harmony. Dysfunction. is a story that follows a research group through the drama and challenges life throws at them. It has an (unspecified) modern setting and focuses on the characters. I've tried to rate this pre-emptively, but unfortunately it might change as the story evolves.
