《Alaska: Queen of the Vampires》Chapter 31: Déja Vu

I couldn't sleep the entire night after I was told that I had died and was resurrected by a supernatural to whom I owe a blood debt. It was a good thing that Adrian had texted me early morning telling me to meet the three of them in an hour. I'd changed into something decent and grabbed my phone before leaving.

Life is so unpredictable.

Just a week ago I'd been daydreaming about what my kids would look like. How Arian would be the super cool dad and Adrian would be the uncle that thought my son or daughter to hunt for the first time. It sucks how everything can come crashing down in just a few minutes.

I passed Noah's house on my way to our meeting spot. I smiled remembing the two of us running around the house as kids. So much has changed. Whom have I become? I passed by the exact spot I'd stopped by when I heard screaming and rushed into the forest- the first time I met Arian.

I heard a scream.

I chuckled as I tsked my brain for playing games with me. My feet stopped moving when the sound came again; this time it was louder. I took in a deep breath. Déja vu indeed. I pulled out my phone and dialled a number.

"911. What's your emergency?"

I have to do this. "I heard a man scream. It came from the Blackwater Forest. Opposite the Waters' house."

"We'll send help immediately. Are

You hurt?"

"No," I replied.

As soon as the call ended, I made my way into the forest. Arian was smart enough to disappear before the police came but I had just saved a poor man's life. I made my way to the pond. That's where he would be.

It was a sunny day. My eyes burned as my sweat dropped into them. It took me nearly three minutes to reach the pond but I stopped when I realised that was another person with Arian.

It's a girl.

Really, Ally? A poor man is lying dead over there and the girl with your mate is your biggest issue?

I watched as Arian dumped the head into the water. There was a big splash, a few ripples and then nothing. No sign of any blunder being committed. "I see you haven't stopped playing serial killer," I called out loudly as I stepped out of my hiding place.

Arian turned behind and smiled.

He was still sexy as sin.

His black hair shone in the sunlight and some of it hid his blue irises from view. His pink lips were curled up into an amused smile. I remember kissing those lips. "Chelsea," he acknowledged, "I see you haven't stopped poking your nose in other people's business."

"Why did you kill him, Arian?" I asked calmly.

"The King doesn't answer to you, bitch," the girl with him sneered. That's when I saw the M pendant hanging around her neck and remembered her. She was the one who took the same book on possession from the library as I did.

"I'm speaking to the blackwater butcher. He's no King of mine," I replied nonchalantly. She glared at me but said nothing.

"Sweetheart," Arian said.

"What." The girl and I replied to him at the same time. My cheeks flushed as I realised he was talking to the girl with him. I saw the amusement dance in his eyes as he observed us both.

"Calm down, ladies. I was addressing both of you," Arian laughed. I clenched my jaw and looked away. I won't let his stupid behaviour affect me. He's nothing more than a narcissistic asshole who feeds off others misery.

"What's the rush, Ice? We're just starting to get to know each other." She winked at him. I rolled my eyes and began to walk away when I heard police sirens coming from ahead.

"Butcher, you're surrounded on all sides! Raise you hands up and surrender!" A voice boomed through a microphone.

"Time to go, sweethearts," Arian grinned. He was in front of me in half a second as he whisked us away with his supernatural speed.

I was thrown to the floor of the church as soon as we reached. "Chivalry is not my thing," Arian said in a callous way as he walked towards the alter where Adrian and Avian were already seated with a bottle of wine and five glasses. Their blasphemy seems to be risky most of the time but I suppose they're powerful enough to risk it.

The five of us were seated in a circle. Arian was seated right opposite to me much to my dismay. He seemed to share the same sentiments and often made jokes to trash humans.

Humans are ridiculously dumb which is why they always die in horror movies.

"Tell me about Cara," I told Adrian.

"I don't know much," he said disappointedly, "She was a witch and was 18 when she died. Her parents knew that she was dead but preserved her body anyway. They wished to bring her soul back to her body from hell-"

"Why were they so sure that their daughter was in hell?" I asked with a smirk.

"It's assumed that all supernaturals go to hell. It's a stupid assumption. Anyway, a few years later my friend Milan's soul was transferred into Cara's body because someone was trying to kill Milan. Ezekiel Gabriel, the eldest Gabriel sibling took Cara's body and in return he promised to bring Cara back to life."

"But Ezekiel's a douchebag," Arian added happily.

"Exactly," Adrian said, "He brought her soul back but she's in someone else's body. It was his way of punishing me for trying to kill him I suppose. We've been trying to speak to the dead or anyone that could be of use to us but we don't have much to go on."

"Do you know whose body she is in?" I asked quietly.

"I'm sure you can tell us," Arian replied. My heart skipped a beat and I looked at Adrian again. I didn't know what to do. "I mean, Cara said that you were the key which means that even though you're a walking blood-bag, you're still of use to us," said Arian.

"And who is she?" I pointed to the girl with him.

"This beauty goes by Michaela. She's a white witch," he replied. It stung the way he introduced her but I ignored it and rolled my eyes at my mate. "So if she was possessing someone's body, how would we get her out?" I asked.

"We could perform an exorcism," Adrian told us, "it could kill either one of them in the worst case scenario."

"Not subtle at all," I grumbled under my breath.

"We were looking for anything linking you to Cara but there's nothing. If we could just find her body, we'd put her back in her own body and everyone would live happily ever after alas, that's not how things seem to be," Adrian said.

"Who the fuck says alas anymore?" Avian snickered.

"I think we should use Alaska's blood to see if we can track down Cara's body," Michaela suggested.

Arian looked at me and smirked.

Oh god, he can still read my mind.

I shrugged and offered my hand bravely although I was biting my tongue to make sure I wouldn't scream when they sliced me open. Michaela took my hand and swiftly ran a knife over my finger and let the blood drop down onto her bowl.

That bitch purposely cut my favourite finger!

My phone began to ring loudly. I jumped up in fright and answered it as soon as I fished it out of my pocket.

"Miss Ivanov, this is Detective Shay Lockwood. I'm incharge of Noah Waters' case and I'd like you to come down to the station to answer a few questions."

I breathed out loudly as I nodded at the others and told him I had to go. "I'll be there in five minutes," I replied.

I walked into the detective's office and sat down. An officer entered a while later and told me that Detective Lockwood would be running late and left soon after. I looked at the photo of her family and the medals of honour she'd received.

All I ever got was a medal for participation.

There was a small conference room attached to the Detective's personal office. I looked around careful to make sure that no one was looking and then slid into the conference room. I switched the lights on.

There was an entire board filled with pictures of all the suspects and witnesses. I saw pictures of me following Noah's sister Naomi and gulped. They probably thought I was trying to kill her too. I walked closer and followed the red thread that linked Noah to others. It went from Noah to Naomi and from Naomi to my dad and me.

My dad?

I gasped as I saw a picture of my dad and Naomi kissing in his office. There were many more. I felt sick. The age difference wasn't the only think that made me nauseated. I knew my parents had a loveless marriage but I didn't expect my father to go around sleeping with girls that were his daughter's age.

What did this mean for me family? Did my mom know about dad having an affair with my best friend's twin? A secret like this could ruin my father's reputation and tear our family apart. I never had a happy family but this would only add to the list of fucked up things about my family.

"Ms. Ivanov."

I jumped and turned around to see Detective Lockwood giving me a disappointed look. I smiled innocently and walked out of the room. "Tell me, Ms. Ivanov. Whom do you think kidnapped Noah Waters?" She asked while shutting the conference room door behind us.

Arian.

My dad has an excellent motive too.

Maybe Noah knew about the affair and threatened to go public with the information he had.

"I don't know," I replied with a casual shrug.

"Let me tell you what I know, sweetheart," she said, "You were the one who reported to 911 that you'd heard a man screaming for his life. Am I correct?"

"Yes."

"Your watch was found broken near the crime scene where we found a headless body of a man. We believe it is the Blackwater Butcher," she murmured, biting the nib of her pen as she examined me carefully.

"Did you happen to see the Blackwater Butcher, Ms. Ivanov?"

Arian's dreamy blue eyes flashed in front of me. His messed up charcoal black hair that fell into place perfectly. His lips that curved into a smile every morning when I woke up lying next to him in bed. His laughter every time I did something embarrassing. The way he pulled me closer to him before he placed his lips on mine.

My phone began ringing.

For once, I felt grateful for the time that it bought me. I excused myself from the detective's presence saying that it was an important call and left her office. I pressed the answer button.

"Hello."

"Ally?"

I stopped breathing for a second. I went still as ice. I tried telling myself that it was all my imagination. That the only place I could actually hear his voice was in my dreams.

"Noah?"
