《Alaska: Queen of the Vampires》Chapter 27: Silver and Gold

Arian's an asshole.

Actually, scratch that.

All rich people are assholes. Am I right?

It was almost midnight and Arian still wasn't back. I didn't know which possibility bothered me more- him killing someone or him searching for a new queen. I didn't want to be queen, per se. I just wanted to be with him, I guess. I don't know what I want anymore.

"Ally, this is the third time we're watching Tangled," Avian groaned and stuffed his face in a pillow.

"To think that two kings would have more important matters to attend to," Adrian said with a snicker.

I glared at them. "Are you saying that I'm not important?" I snapped irritatedly.

The shook their head hurriedly. "A-Avian said that, not me!" He pointed innocently at his younger cousin.

"What the fuck?" Avian said; unable to talk properly with a mouthful of popcorn. "I must let you know that I never lie," he declared proudly, "Unless I have to." I smiled while rolling my eyes at him and snuggled deeper into the sofa.

We heard a giggle behind us.

"Arian?" I asked.

He giggled again while holding on to a brunette. "This is Sophia, my new queen. You look dumb with your hair like that," he said with yet another giggle.

What the fuck?

The girl cleared her throat. "He's just being dumb," she laughed. It wasn't funny to me. I raised an eyebrow; unimpressed. "He came into the bar, already high as the empire state and demanded that one of our dancers be his queen."

"I asked nicely!" Arian objected with a small pout.

"You threatened to kill all of them," she snapped.

"Who are you?" Adrian asked sceptically. None of us were in the mood to tolerate Arian and his pretend-queen at this part of the night.

"I'm the bar's owner, Sophia Velmont. I got him kicked out of my bar but he climbed a tree and threatened to jump down if I didn't come home with him," she sighed, rubbing her temple.

I was embarrassed for Arian.

Avian laughed proudly. "How tall was the tree?"

"Barely his height," she laughed.

I bit back a smile. "Well, thanks for your help I guess. I wouldn't blame you for leaving him stranded and drunk on the streets," I told her.

"I wanted to see which girl he was trying so desperately to forget. I can't blame him for having a thing for you." She winked, eyeing me intensely. I looked at Avian and Adrian in confusion to confirm whether that just happened. They both were as shocked as me.

I put Arian to sleep in his bed and I walked out of the room. Adrian would sleep in his room to make sure that he didn't choke on his own vomit. I'm not sure I want to share a room with him anymore. He was so desperate to get rid of me that he actually tried forcing someone to be with him.

That's pathetic.

The next morning I went in the kitchen to help make breakfast. To be honest, to learn to make breakfast. I made some waffles, eggs, and bacon all by myself and served some freshly squeezed orange juice as well. "The breakfast is lovely, sweetheart," Allison, Arian's stepmom, told me. I smiled happily.

I bet Sophia would only be able to make cocktails for everyone.

Gosh Ally, you don't even know that girl but you're already jealous.

"Is it edible?" Avian whispered not-so-softly to Adrian who glared at him and nodded. I rolled my eyes but said nothing. I can't really blame him for doubting my cooking ability considering that I don't know how to even break an egg properly.

The door creaked open softly and Arian came in looking... horrible.

His hair was messy, he had angry dark circles under his eyes and his shirt was untucked and crumbled.I looked at Adrian and Avian who were neatly dressed in crisp suits and looked at my simple satin dress. It was still better than his attire.

"Looks like you're in the wrong place. The servants quarters is to the left of this room," I called out sweetly, being extra loud on purpose. He groaned and rubbed his temples.

Ignoring my comment to everyone's surprise, he sat down quietly and began nibbling on some eggs. "Who the fuck made this?" He asked. His cheeks had regained some of their colour and his eyes weren't as tired as they were before. I gulped.

Was something wrong with the food?

Oh moon goddess, spare me the embarrassment.

Or just make him disappear.

No one said anything but all of them looked at me nervously. Arian glanced at me and his eyes widened. "I-It's so bad that I need to umm throw this out right now," he muttered as he walked out hurriedly with his plate.

"What's wrong with him?" Allison asked.

"He's just-"

"Oh is this the annual Arian-Is-An-Asshole meeting?" We all turned back in surprise to see Arian enter the room once again.

"It's biannual, actually," Allison said cheekily, "And no. This isn't it. What brings you back?"

"This is my house so I can do as I please. In fact," he said sassily with his hands on his hips, "I'm going to throw all of it so that no one is forced to eat this garbage." My heart sank as he said that and once again left the room with the plate full of eggs.

I was just trying.

I got up angrily, hot tears brimming in my eyes, and left the room. I grabbed my purse and phone and took a car into the city. I still had my dad's credit card so I might as well put that to some good use.

I got my wavy long hair chopped so it reached my shoulders and got a mani-pedi along with a facial. Next, I went to Starbucks and ordered my favourite Toffee Nut Crunch which according to me is the only thing about Starbucks that isn't overrated.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry but your card has been denied," the cashier, Josh said.

"What? Please try again," I requested. Oh god, this day is so bad. Everyone's just here to embarrass me. Damn it dad you better not have withdrawn the remaining money.

"Sorry," he said with a shrug and offered me the credit card back.

"Some people think they can bat their eyelashes and get free drinks anytime," some woman standing behind me said. I clenched my jaw and ignored her.

I couldn't even bitch slap her because I was in fact cashless.

.

"There you are," a chilling voice said from behind me and an arm was put around my shoulders. I turned to look at the man. He was.... catastrophic.

He had dark blue eyes as dark as the night sky with silver flecks in them and jet black hair that was neatly styles in a quiff. He smelt like citrus and teakwood and all things heavenly.

There was only one problem.

He wasn't Arian.

He handed the cashier a 100 dollar note. I frowned and opened my mouth to protest but he cut me off before I could even begin. "My girlfriend here always keeps her wallet in my pocket and forgets it. Silly girl," he said with a soft chuckle in the end.

Josh, the cashier, smiled at the two of us and handed the man the remaining change but he denied it. "Keep the change." I stared at the change in shock. He left a 94 dollar tip for a 4 dollar coffee.

Crazy rich people.

He turned to leave. I caught his hand. "You really didn't have to be so kind but thanks for saving me from being embarrassed," I said amiably with a small smile, "I'm Alaska."

"I'm.... Zeke."

I laughed. "You seem to find it hard to recall your name, stranger."

"Who's to tell me that you aren't a serial killer? Or worse, a stalker," he said with a slight grin on his well defined face. Damn it, he's beautiful.

"How is a stalker worse than a serial killer?" I asked in pleasant surprise.

"A serial killer can murder you and put you on the headlines. A stalker just finds new ways to fuck you up and ruin your life," he said.

I raised an eyebrow. "So, do you consider yourself to be a stalker or a serial killer?" I asked curiously. He smirked. "A little bit of both," he replied cooly. I laughed and shook my head at him.

"You seem to prefer being a serial killer," he said after a while.

"More like being with a serial killer," I mumbled under my breath. Thank god Zeke is a human. Otherwise he'd hear me. This seems normal.

Human guys are nice.

Dumber but definitely nicer.

"Won't you order something for yourself?" I asked him.

"I already have all that I want," he replied with a casual shrug. I smiled admirably at his confidence. I always wanted to be like that.

"Rich, huh?" I said with a laugh.

"Well-off," he replied.

Zeke was.... surreal.

He was a self-made businessman, a few years older than Adrian, has been disowned by his family for changing his profession and he was currently single. The last one, I didn't get.

How does a guy with looks like his with jet black and azure eyes not have a girlfriend?

I should totally set him up with Avian!

I know that Avian says he's straight but I've picked up on clues like his obsession with himself, the colourful printed socks, his stash of chocolates and the fact that he's never dated anyone. And he's super dramatic.

"Would you like to come home with me?" I asked excitedly.

"Won't you even buy me dinner first?" He looked offended. My eyes widened and I shook my head. He smiled and told me it was a joke. I was always a tube light.

"You won't regret it, I promise," I said.

"I'm sure I won't."
