《Alaska: Queen of the Vampires》Chapter 8: Night Phantom

No, Alaska didn't wake up to find herself wrapped around Arian happily. No, he didn't smile at her as she took in his sexy bed hair and morning voice. Instead, her eyes opened as she smiled to herself in contentment. She rolled over to the edge of the bed and found a note.

Breakfast at 9am. Don't be late.

-A.

She walked over to his bathroom and her eye balls almost fell out of their sockets. His bathroom was bigger than Noah's room. I can live in this place forever! One entire side had a full length mirror. There was a leather couch with a glass table on which fresh clothes were kept for her and a wine bottle at one end of the bathroom.

In the centre, was a crystal cabinet that held a spare brush and toothpaste that she utilised. At the other end of the bathroom was the shower. She laughed at how silly it was. One handle poured out milk, another poured out rose water, the third held cold water and the fourth poured hot water. In one corner a huge jacuzzi was fitted. Arian's future wife is one lucky bitch. She chose her standard hot water, unwilling to spoil herself, and dressed into the white formal blouse and black pants that she was given.

The moment she stepped outside Arian's room, a small chubby 7 year old boy grabbed her hand and guided her. "Pretty lady, come with me! Master does not like to eat late!" The boy exclaimed. Ally looked at the boy and laughed softly. He was dressed like a little warrior. "Hello, handsome boy," she teased. The boy blushed slightly and continued tugging her hand.

The Vampires in the castle watched the human girl in fascination. They were given strict orders to be on their best behaviour or else they'd have to deal with the devil himself. She wasn't the prettiest girl one could come across but she was pretty in her own innocent way. "Forgive Danny for being rude but is Pretty Lady going to marry Danny's master?" The boy asked excitedly.

Arian had come of age and he was expected to find a bride as soon as possible. Ally couldn't help but laugh at the thought of being Arian's wife. She'd be crazy to marry him! "Of course not!" She laughed humorously. "Your master doesn't like me a lot," she chuckled. It was true, Arian and her had a rocky relationship. She didn't want to hurt herself by expecting anything from him.

"Oh, pretty lady! We have reached the destination that was told to Danny. Goodbye!" He kissed her knuckles and opened the dining room door for her. Alaska walked in nervously and smiled at all those seated at the table. Arian sat at the end of the table; his step-mother sat to his left along with another man and to his right sat his two cousins, Adrian Lancaster and Arian Valmont.

The dining table had all sorts of food. Turkey, ham and chicken sausages; toast, garlic breadand multigrain bread; freshly cut fruits and fruit juice, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs and omelette, oatmeal cookies, cornflakes and a few other cereals. It was like they had their own food court that they stole from a mall.

Rich people have so much of food and all they eat is a damn apple.

What a waste of food.

Adrian got up from his own seat and pulled out a chair for her, next to Alison. Ally looked at the handsome man whom she was compelled to forget and smiled shyly. She thanked him and awkwardly served herself a sandwich and by mistake, dropped it in her tea. I've made a good impression. Let me go and kill myself now... she thought angrily.

The vampires in the room looked at each other in amusement. Vampires could read human minds but the poor Ivanov didn't know that. Another man entered the room and immediately Arian grunted. "You're late." The man rolled his eyes and blew Arian a flying kiss. "I missed you too, Elsa," he smiled. Ally smiled at the pun. Arian Ice. Elsa is the Ice Queen. Get it?

Then all the men in the room turned back to watch Ally try and fish the sandwich out of her coffee. Alison smiled at their childish behaviour and had a maid give the girl a new cup of coffee with another sandwich. "It's lovely to see you again, dear. I didn't know that my son kept you hidden in his room all day or else I'd have rescued you sooner," Alison teased. Arian glared at his embarrassing step-mother. Ally blushed and looked at Arian.

Adrian spoke, "You must be the lovely Miss Ivanov. Arian has said a lot of good things about you s-

"No I didn't!" Arian protested.

Adrian tossed an apple at the king and continued. "So anyway, my name is Adrian. Adrian Lancaster. I'm the nicest Vampire in the castle so if my brother gives you any trouble do let me know," he grinned. Ally didn't know what to do. She was busy thinking about her sandwich that had drowned in the coffee. The girl didn't even realise he was speaking to her until she heard the word 'vampire.'

"And I'm Leo. Arian's beta or second-in-command," another man smiled. He had stormy blue eyes and dark brown hair. He seemed like the type that wore black leather jackets all the time. All of these men are so good looking! If only I was royalty.

"No introductions needed. Right, Miss Ivanov?" Avian smirked.

Ally laughed and shrugged. Arian rolled his eyes at his cousin. Avian always liked to be the centre of attraction everywhere he went. And Arian hated it. "Oh, Arian, could you get me some of those fresh fruits straight from Robert's farm? I won't be able to go to the Night Phantom," Alison asked. Ally's eyes visibly lit up.

The Night Phantom was a night market that Alaska was never allowed to visit. Apparently, it was a dangerous place that the mafia owned. The Phantom was held once a month and had the best of clothes, shoes, books, flowers- everything that one could possibly think of. What made it so fascinating was that it had things that weren't scheduled to release until 12 months later.

Noah had visited the market once with his uncle and he had bought a lantern for his best friend. It was the most beautiful one she had ever owned. Of course, a very few people from Blackwater had been to The Phantom. It had an infamous reputation that had been created by the numerous stories that it's visitors had to share.

"The Night Phantom?" Ally asked.

"Oh, yes. Would you like to go?" Adrian asked mischievously. Arian knew what he was planning in his mind so he shot his cousin a warning look in advance. Of course, getting threatened by your cousin isn't really scary. Ally, unaware of their exchange, nodded excitedly.

"But I can't go, I'm not special," she reminded the boys. Clarence denied her a wonderful night claiming that she wasn't special enough to visit the market. So naturally, she was sceptical. Clarence and Teresa wouldn't be home for another day or two. Adrian let out a loud laugh.

"Of course, you are!" He laughed and then added, "There is a reason my cousin fancies you!"

Ally bit her lip awkwardly and looked at her food.

Both Arian and Avian cast deadly glares at their elder cousin. Avian, the arrogant prince, had his eyes set on the human but he was convinced that she liked another man. So he resorted to being the boy that admired her from afar. Arian, on the other hand, didn't like her but he did have a soft spot for the girl. And his cousin was taking advantage of that information.

"Arian would love to take you. Wouldn't you, Arian?" Adrian smiled cheerily.

"Sure." Arian smiled tightly.

"Thank you," Ally said softly with a shy smile.

Alison looked at the two of them. They'd make a perfect couple. Like Elizabeth and Darcy perhaps. But how long would Arian take to realise that he liked the very girl whom he had rejected? And how long would Alaska take to set aside her pride and face her feelings?

Arian rolled his eyes.

"Whatever. I'm hungry," he muttered.

"Hi, Hungry. I'm Adrian," he grinned.

"Seriously, get out of my house."

A few hours later, Arian and Ally sat in the backseat of his limo, arguing with each other. As usual. "Why do I have to wear the scarf? Why can't you wear it!" She huffed. Arian clenched his fists, trying hard not to knock some sense in the girl. "It will compliment your eyes," she added.

He groaned and stuck his head out of the window.

"That's dangerous. So how about you let me roam around on my own? I'll meet you back at the car in exactly one hour," she negotiated with a pleading smile. Her next option would be knocking Arian out and then returning after an hour. The first one seemed simpler.

"One more word and I'll tear open your body, pull out your organs and feed them to the dogs. Got it?"

She glared at him and decided to look out of the window. It was past sunset but the atmosphere wasn't very cool- exactly why Ally refused to hide her face with a scarf even though Arian claimed that it was for her own good. They were nearing the market. They passed people happily returning from the market carrying handful of bags in their hands, girls giggling as the younger boys merrily flirted with them.

Arian got out and waited impatiently for Alaska but she never did. She dumbly thought that he would open the door for her but huffed and got out when she realised that he was getting annoyed. They walked together, maintaining some distance between them, and went to the fruit seller. "Welcome, your highness! How may I help you?" A cheery girl greeted her king.

Arian smiled back at her and Ally snorted making both of them look at her weirdly. Lucky for her, the scarf hid her entire face except for her eyes. Alaska Ivanov was jealous. He never looked at her that way. "One kg of plums which are as sweet as you," Arian smirked. The girl giggled and began weighing the plums before putting them in a transparent box. "Anything to please you, sir," the girl said. Ally stomped off to another stall angrily without telling Arian.

He turned around to ask her if she wanted some but there was no one.

Where the fuck is she?

... Arian's vamp side, Lucien, teased him.

Rot in hell, Lucien.

Lucien laughed.

Arian shut him off after that and focused on finding Alaska after he payed the young girl. He sighed in relief when he spotted her but clenched his jaw in anger when he saw that she was talking to a boy who was getting horny down there. He walked to her and dragged her away. "Don't ever leave without informing me," he hissed in her ear. Instead of being intimidated, she gulped and looked away.

Arian felt the closeness of their proximity and backed away. He could tell what she was thinking without even reading her mind. Her eyes said it all. But if he gave in to what she wanted, he'd end up hurting her. And as much as he tried to deny it, he didn't want to cause her any pain. Before his vamp side could convince him to act on his primal instincts, a man came to greet him.

Ally walked towards a charm stall close to where Arian stood and looked around. There were various charm bracelets, lockets and studded rings in the stall. A woman as old as her mother stood proudly on the other side, welcoming customers. Alaska smiled at her and chose a locket. It was a diamond studded heart locket, that when opened, held two heart shaped photo frames. She knew whom to fit on one side of the frame.

What about the other?

As she was paying for the locket, she heard a loud howl followed by screams.

"Wolves!"
