"Vampire."

Her bag fell to the floor.

Legend said that a Vampire was a blood thirsty creature with pale skin, chapped lips, red eyes and cracked skin around the eyes. They were wrong, Alaska realised. Arian's white skin had a slight tan and his eyes were magnificent. A velvet red circle surrounded his irises making him truly look like royalty. His lips were stained with the blood of the girl whom he had thrown to the floor carelessly. It flowed down his neck, entering below his shirt.

A beautiful bastard... Alaska thought to herself.

At that moment Noah's face flashed in her mind. Adrenaline pumped through her entire body as she moved forward to catch his collar. "You sick asshole! You kidnapped my best friend, Ice! You're a heartless monster who doesn't deserve anything but misery and loneliness! I can't believe that I actually thought you had a heart down that cold exterior of yours! I regret the day I met you, now more than ever!" She shouted. She'd regret it later but in that moment, she was lost in her anger and hunger for revenge.

"I did not take him! Do you know why I kill those people? Do you want to know? You just like assuming things!" Arian spat out venomously. He had never lost his calm before but hearing her say those words angered his beast.

"How am I supposed to know? Maybe you should have told me before drowning me in the lake!" She taunted.

They didn't realise how close they were.

One more step closer, and their lips would be pressed tightly against each other.

"Do you want to know!?" He yelled angrily.

A heavy wind surrounded the two of them, leaving no place to escape and making the trees sway dangerously fast. The birds flew out of their nests as the sky threatened to unleash the storm that it was withholding. He had scared the girl once again. She gulped. "Yes," she whispered meekly while looking at the ground.

"Well I don't want to tell you!" He shouted.

"Then why did you ask!" she mumbled under her breath.

He heard that. And she knew that he had.

"Do you love the boy or something?" Ice taunted. He dreaded the answer but he had to know for himself.

"Maybe I do! It's better than loving a monster like you!"

Black flames started coming out of his body, surrounding them. Anyone that touched the flame would be cursed. The person would have to experience every bone in their body breaking until they could finally escape the torture by dying. Of course, Alaska didn't know that either.

She feared him since he was a vampire. They were horrid creatures. As he walked towards her, eyeing her like a prey, she subconsciously took a few steps back until she bumped into someone. The boy was oddly calm. Arian glared at the boy who just smirked in return. "Don't compel her. I want her to remember the monster that I am," he spat out. She watched as he disappeared into thin air.

"The name is Avian," the boy said.

"Are you his brother?" She asked softly, still too shaken up to speak freely.

"Fortunately no. Let me give you a hand," he smirked as he began picking up the things that had fallen out of her bag. She observed him as they both did their work. He had cherry red hair. Enticing violet eyes that complimented his grey shirt paired with black jeans. He was a few years younger than Alaska. 17, he said.

"Is this a float?" He asked.

She blushed.

"He drowned me the last time," she mumbled softly. Avian imagined her floating in the water as his cousin glared at her and chuckled. She was different in comparison to Arian's general choice of females. "The only reason I'm tolerating you is because I have a feeling that my cousin has a soft spot for you. Now come on. We have some place to go and I don't have all day," he said with an eye roll.

The boys of the family are jerks!

At least Ice was polite sometimes. She dusted her skirt and followed the boy quietly. He oozed confidence and attitude. After a little prying, he finally told her that he was the soon to be King of the Magderian Empire. He had been training with Arian for a few months before he could finally take on the responsibility.

The journey felt like it was never going to end. Avian kept commenting on how slow she was walking or how unfit she was. "It's not like I planned to take a stroll in the forest!" She exclaimed angrily. She wanted to go back to Arian and demand information on Noah's whereabouts but she was sadly a coward. She'd have to ask the detective if there were any leads.

"Ask for a forget-me-not necklace. Good luck!" He called out after pushing her into a random shop.

Alaska shouted at him to open the door but it wouldn't budge. She turned and looked around. It was a big antique shop with clustered wooden furniture and small yellow bulbs hanging around the place. She looked around the shop in fascination. Spell books, necklaces, keychains, plants, you name it- it had everything.

A lady placed a hand on her shoulder and took a deep breath and exhaled loudly. "Vampire," she hissed. The plump lady was old, nearing her 70s, and had grey hair that was left wild and loose. Her grey gown only added to Alaska's fear. "You are lucky to survive such a powerful Vampire," she said, placing her hand on the girl's temple and pressing down slowly. Alaska groaned in discomfort. Was she talking about Arian or Avian?

"Can I get a forget-me-not necklace, please?" Alaska asked softly. She wanted to run away from the deranged old lady but since Avian had rescued her, she should probably take his advice and buy whatever he asked her to. The lady laughed all of a sudden and hit her cheek lightly. She is mad, indeed! Alaska thought to herself.

"This is very dangerous, dearie!" She said while forcing the young girl to sit down as she poured some tea for the two of them.

"A long time ago, a Vampire fell in love with a human princess. When her father learned of the true form of her beloved, he wanted to erase all memories of hers. So she was given shock treatment. The girl cried out to her lover for she did not want to live without his memories. He gave her a beautiful blue flower, one that refrained her memories from vanishing. Those memories haunted her and finally, she took her own life," the lady laughed. Alaska shivered after listening to the story.

Would she meet the same fate?

"Thank you for your time. I must go now," she mumbled as she handed the lady a bill. The young girl stared at the necklace in her hand. It was a miniature blue flower with golden sparkles on it, put inside a transparent glass locket. It was indubitably beautiful but it's history and power terrified her. "I do not have any change, dearie. Let me show you some magic instead," the woman smiled. Alaska protested but the lady refused to keep the unearned money. Witches were self respecting creatures; some could be cruel and some could be lovely.

It all depended on fate.

Ally looked around at the artifacts and newspaper cutouts as the lady pulled out a crystal ball and placed it on the table. "This ball will show you your greatest fear. Overcome this fear, and you will be the strongest woman to exist," she smiled. Her eyeballs disappeared from her eyes as she starting chanting. The candles burned out when a strong wind started blowing around them.

The crystal flickered at Alaska's touch. Tiny fragments came together to seal her fate. The ball increased in temperature as the astonished girl looked at it. The image was confusing. It was a dark forest lit with magical fairy lights all over the place. A man stood with his back towards her. He looks familiar... she thought. He turned and gave her a heart warming smile and kissed her hand.

Ice.

"I need to leave." Her chair screeched as she got up hastily and made her way to the exit. Arian was her greatest fear? It wasn't surprising. Seeing him made her heart flutter as an unexplainable feeling took over her entire body. Consuming her. Without turning back, she pushed open the door. This time, it opened for her.

"What is her greatest fear, mum?" A little girl asked her mother.

"Love," she smiled.

"Her greatest fear is love."
