《Nightwalker》Chapter Sixty

We rode until dark with a few stops on the way to water and rest the horses before we made it to the clearing that we had stopped at on our trip back from Enrique's castle.

"You don't mind sleeping out in the open do you, my lady?" Qoy joked towards lady Aviva as we dismounted our horses and started to set up camp.

Lady Aviva gave Qoy a dry, unimpressed look. "Of course not fool. We might be nobles but we know how to live while on the road." She drawled back at him making Beatrice and I chuckle.

"Whatever you say." Qoy shrugged while falling back onto the grass with his hands resting behind his head looking up at the stars.

"You're not going to help?" I asked him curiously as I set up mine and Beatrice's sleeping mats near where Beatrice was building the fire.

"What's there to do? We all feed off of blood here and don't need to hunt for food." He remarked.

I chuckled and gave in. "True."

"You may go to the cabin now. We'll start travelling again at day break." Lady Aviva dismissed us.

"Thank you my lady." I bowed to her before nudging Qoy in his side making him scowl at me. "Behave." I warned him then went over to Beatrice and nodding towards the direction we had to go. "This way."

"There's definitely something to say for the forest at night." Beatrice sighed as we walked, hands clasped together and all relaxed, though I had most of my senses spread out ready for any danger if there was.

"For sure." I agreed looking around at the forest that looked like it glowed from the light of the moon. "It's beautifully mysterious half shadowed as it is."

"Indeed. It's stunning." Beatrice sighed.

"It is in a way, but not as stunning as you, Zhilat." I replied while placing a kiss to the side of her head.

Beatrice scoffed lightly and rolled her eyes. "Charmer."

"I try." We laughed and finally made it to the cabin I was born and raised in.

I went over to the three graves that have now been completely covered by grass and even flowers sprouted out above them.

"This place is beautiful." Beatrice gasped looking around at the small clearing and of the cabin that I have been fixing over the years while I travelled as a hunter for lady Aviva. It was nearly completed actually.

Moss and vines still grew over the front of it but that only helped for the cabin to blend in with the surroundings. Inside there was completely new flooring, walls, refurbished hearth and a small kitchen. The ceiling was fixed and there was even now a loft above where the bedroom is.

"I'm glad you think so." I said happily smiling up at her.

"Is this where you buried them?" She asked kneeling down beside me.

"Yes, my mother, my father and Sylvia." I sighed sadly but it was also in contented understanding, they're gone but that's okay, I will always remember them. I stood up and brushed away grass from my pants. "Come, have a look inside."

We walked over to the cabin and I opened the door to allow Beatrice in first and was happy to hear a gasp of amazement.

"Oh Vaden this is lovely!" She exclaimed grabbing hold of my hand tightly, while her excitement that came down our bond fuelled my own.

"I'm happy that you like it because... well I was thinking, wondering, that when Athena is able to take over running the business from you and I stop hunting, we could, ah... you know move in here." I asked nervously rubbing the back of my neck while looking at the ground.

I chanced a nervous look up only to see tears falling from her stunning silver/blue eyes. "Oh Vaden, I would love to move in here with you!" She exclaimed and basically tackled me in a hug, which I gladly returned feeling like I could just about float above the clouds with how happy I was right at this moment.

"I love you Beatrice, you're my world." I whispered into her hair.

"And I you my beloved." She sighed into me still slightly sniffling.

"Come on, go have a look around. If you think of any changes we can easily get it done when we get back."

"All right." We parted with a kiss that is still tingling my lips as I stand out near my parents and Sylvia's grave.

"Vaden." I jumped in shock at the sound of my name. I quickly turned around only to find a familiar little girl I haven't seen in a very long time.

"You!" I exclaimed in surprise at the younger version of Beatrice who stood before me.

She smiled at me softly the same way Beatrice does but with a hint of childish youth to it.

"I know who you are now." I said relaxing while I smiled back at her and taking in the subtle changes can notice in the girl. Her eyes were a stunning blue-silver but leant more into the blue, her hair was lighter than before and I could swear that something was coming out of her back, like wings. "You're Beatrice's other half of her soul that she lost when lady Aviva saved her when they were children."

Her smile widened as she nodded but then she suddenly stopped smiling and looked at me with a seriousness that belied her years. "Yeri qoy mae atthirar. Villat, ha ki Akkelenak mae irge me. (Your blood is life. Beware, for the Master is after it.)" She quietly spoke sending shocks through me.

"What?" I asked back in confusion. Wait... haven't I heard that before? Where though...? Oh! The woman in the cage the first time we went to Enrique's castle.

"The Master, you must be wary of him. You have to stay alive no matter what." She expressed seriously and intensely.

"Why me?" I asked though I had a feeling. I touched the crescent moon mark that sat on my neck above my scar. I nearly forgot about it, about how different I really am.

"Yes, you are the Pure Child, if you die, if the Master gets a taste of your blood he will gain the power and ability to break the seal that stops him from coming into this and other realms. If he gets through the seal, all realms will burn and mortals will be turned into blood slaves." She insisted before her image flickered out of focus for a second. "Please! Please you have to keep living!"

And then she was gone and I was left incredibly confused. What was I suppose to do? The Master is incredibly powerful, stronger than lady Aviva and Enrique together. If he wants me dead I'm going to be dead pretty quickly.

"Vaden?" Once again I jump in shock at the sound of my name. "Are you all right?"

I breathed a slight sigh of relief before relaxing and going over to Beatrice. "Yeah, I'm fine."

She frowned at me, worry clear in her eyes as I pulled her to me, her hands resting on my shoulders while I wrapped my own around her waist and rested my forehead on hers.

"I can feel your fear and confusion Vaden." She told me, still frowning. "What happened?"

"I'd like to talk about it along with Qoy and lady Aviva here as well." I sighed giving in. Leaving her with a kiss I locked the cabins door and we headed back to the camp where we found Qoy fast asleep right next to the fire with his hand resting in the flames while lady Aviva was patting down her horse, Hispec.

"How long has he been like that?" I asked curiously wondering how he wasn't hurting or his clothes catching light.

"Since you two left. He's a strange creature isn't he?" Lady Aviva frowned at the man that was actually a sword in a human shape.

"I believe he once was a Nightwalker like us, but then changed into a weapon somehow. Much like my Rhoa az, otherwise known as Artemis, that can shift into any and all beasts that live in any realm even if their spirit doesn't reside within her. She's told me that she was once worshiped as a goddess before she was changed into the hunting knife." I replied with a shrug before sitting down beside Beatrice on our sleeping mats.

"Really? Interesting... I wonder what could have caused such a thing." Lady Aviva hummed thoughtfully as she sat down on her own mat.

"My lady..." I asked hesitantly after it was silent for a little. "What can you tell me about the Pure Child?"

Lady Aviva looked at me with a straight face. "Why do you need to know?"

"Because I know that I am the Pure Child and if the Master finds out, he'll kill me and I highly doubt any of us can fight him off if he does come after me." I answered just as serious.

Beatrice gripped my hand tightly and I could feel her shock and fear. "Vaden..."

Lady Aviva nodded her head before sighing softly. "You know about the Master, who created the first Nightwalker's, the Lord, who created the first Celestial's, and the Human, who created the Hunter Society. The Human sealed away the Master and the Lord into separate realms when the two of them started a war, over what they wanted to do with the humans and the mortal realm. The Master wanted to enslave the mortals while the Lord wanted the power of a king and to rule over everything. The Human at first didn't care until the Lord and Master started changing humans against their will or killed them without mercy."

"That's wrong." Qoy suddenly spoke up cutting lady Aviva short. He sat up yawning and stretched his arms over his head. "The Human only got involved because the Master raped and changed his sister while the Lord lied and deceived his brother till he died. The Human got involved only for revenge. He didn't care about the other humans because they were weak and pitiful."

"Why would you know that?" Beatrice asked curiously.

"Simple, because I was there." Qoy shrugged while lying back on his elbows, legs kicked out in front of him. He rolled his head towards us and smirked, black eyes glittering while he showed off his fangs. "I'm the Master's brother."

Lady Aviva had a knife to Qoy's neck before anyone could blink. "You are going no further." She stated simply a deathly glint in her molten gold eyes.

Qoy didn't even seem fazed by the weapon pressed up against his throat. "Do you really think I have any love for my supposed brother? Then you're wrong. I was the first one he ever changed but I hate him for it. All the deaths I've seen, I've caused, I hated it. I hate him for making me into this monster, but I've accepted it now." He sighed and flopped back onto the ground. "The best thing that has ever happened to me was being changed into a Vojjor Vishaferat (Gods Weapon). Trapped as a sword I didn't have to form any attachments unless they were my weilder and they were usually only power hungry murderers I had no care for. That was until Vaden here. I serve her and only her. I won't tell my brother anything, actually I'll do my damnedest to protect her if he tries to harm a single hair on her head."

I was shocked and touched because I knew exactly how unemotional and uncaring Qoy actually was. He is worse than me when I was insane and couldn't care about anything, so that's saying something. He is incredibly loyal even when he feels nothing and only copies other peoples emotions, which makes it even more amazing that it's me that that loyalty belongs to.

Standing up I went over to him and knelt beside him. He looked ip at me with his black eyes, face straight and unrevealing. I touched the back of his hand softly and smiled. "Thank you."

He scoffed and turned away from me. "It's nothing."

I stood back up with a chuckle. "Its not, but whatever right? Can't have my tough bodyguard looking soft now. I'll take first watch so why don't you guys sleep."

I went back to sit beside Beatrice and kissed her cheek as she lay down, her head using my lap as a pillow. Lady Aviva sighed softly, eyed Qoy wearily before shaking her head and going back to her mat and lying down.

It was silent for a long time, leaving me with my thoughts, which I believe isn't such a good thing. I was worrying about everything. Worrying about what little Beatrice was warning me about. Worrying about my Beatrice possibly getting hurt if a fight ensues. Worrying that I'm going to die and not be able to see those that have become my family back at the estate. Worrying that I want be able to protect lady Aviva since that's my ultimate reason that I'm even alive now anyway (besides for Beatrice of course, she is above everyone even lady Aviva). Worrying that Qoy's loyalty belonging to the wrong person. Worrying about facing the Master, a crazy ass monster that might as well be a god. Worrying about possibly falling under the control of Enrique all over again...

I sighed feeling like I'm about to go crazy.

Is everything okay Alpha? I can feel your distress. Do I need to come and help you with something?

I jumped slightly at the sound of Anon's voice in my head. His own worrying made me smile.

No, no. Everything's fine. I've just found out a few things that's making me anxious.

Like?

That I'm probably going to be the reason that all of humanity and every realm is going to be taken over by demons and monsters because my blood will break the Master's seal if he gets and kills me.

What the hell? First it's that bastard Enrique threatening you with mindless slavery and now a crazy blood monster wants you? Why the hell are you so popular with the bad guys?

I don't know! Argh... what am I going to do Anon?

... Tell me when you're at the castle and about to go through the portal. I'm gathering a small team ready for if things go bad in the under realm we can get to you quickly.

No Anon... you have to stay there and protect the estate, protect Athena.

Are you kidding me? You think Athena needs protection? Alpha, your pup is crazy strong and can even kick me onto my backside and she's just newly Changed! Athena doesn't need protection, she's your pup and can handle anything that comes her way. I think she's gained some of your insanity because man! Can she fight! It's awesome watching her take on Lucas, Hawk and Galen at the same time. So... the point that I'm getting at is, that the estate is fine, the business is fine, the territory is fine and I've already gathered people who are coming with me to save your butt when the blood monster man is after your blood. You're my Alpha but I will not stand back and watch you die if I can help prevent it.

I didn't know what to say. I was incredibly proud of Athena and beyond happy with Anon calling her my pup, while at the same time touched by Anon's care, but utterly terrified that I'm going to be leading him and his little group to their deaths. I sighed softly, giving in though it just adds another thing to my pile of things to worry about. I have no say in the matter do I?

Of course you do. As I said, you're my Alpha and if you completely and utterly deny me going to help you then I must obey, I won't like it, but I'll have to. But you're not going to make me stay are you?

... No, no, I wouldn't do that to you. You have no idea how thankful I am to have you Anon.

I know, I'm great aren't I?

I chuckled at his self-satisfied tone. You really are. You should go to bed Anon, I'll talk to you on the morrow.

Yeah, I'll talk to you tomorrow Alpha.

It was silent again and I was back in my thoughts but this time my anxiety and worry was at the back of my mind. Still very much there, but not at the centre of my thoughts this time. Right now I just need to relax, keep a look out, and protect my most important person.

Please comment and vote if you like the story so far! Thank you!

By the way, all their talking throughout the whole book is meant to be really old style, like Shakespearean type way of talking but I can't be bothered to research and write all that (sorry) so I hope you don't mind how modern the way I make them speak sound.

Love ya's ^.-~*
