《Nightwalker》Chapter Fifty-Eight

When we got back to the estate, Adelle was placed in a cell that Ashwini had created to hold back any magicks and would stop her ability to use her hands. I helped with the restraining of her artefacts by making it unable to pull in any mana. Luckily I didn't have to be in the same room to do it, because the moment I stepped into the cell I panicked and couldn't help remember my time in Enrique's cell.

From what I heard from Beatrice, Adelle wouldn't talk, no matter what she was put through. I couldn't help it, but I felt bad for her. I know what it was like to be put through the torture of being tied down in a cell while something you didn't want was being done to you. But I didn't do anything to stop it.

Eliza was in room arrest from when she woke up. I had placed her into the room beside mine and the only people allowed to enter was myself, Athena, lady Aviva and Beatrice. She wouldn't say anything to anyone besides Athena. I would sit and listen to the young girls talking at night sometimes. They spoke of Sylvia the most and what she meant to both of them. It was a sad and happy conversation. Athena would also tell the older girl what it was like living in the estate. About the little adventures her and Sian went on while I was away, and about those who lived in the estate.

Eliza at first was adamant about not wanting to be here, that her and Athena should run away and go back to the Hunters, but Athena readily declined and argued against Eliza's reasoning. I didn't like how Athena had to fight for us, I didn't like that there was something that made the humans hate creatures like myself so much. I couldn't see what the reasoning were. Why was there so much hate between humans and the, supposedly, 'unnatural' creatures of the mortal realm? I didn't get it.

Qoy came back the night we arrived back and got a room of his own beside Anon's, across the hall from me. He seemed adamant to not go back into his sword state unless he had to. I spent a lot of time with him and Beatrice during the days after our arrival back, just gaining back strength, both physically and mentally. I trained in both mana and how to use Rhoa az. It seems I can use the spirits in the knife and look through their eyes while they wonder around doing my bidding. It was amazing and difficult at the same time. I had to make sure I didn't get lost in the creature's mind when I was looking through it. Beatrice has had to literally cut off my hand to cut the connection between me and the blade that was the in between from my mind and the creatures.

After a few days though, I was feeling the grinding need for blood, which I couldn't still just take from Victoria without the urge to vomit it back up and get cast back into my memories of torture and insanity. So I started to hunt more within lady Aviva's territory at her orders. Anon came with me and with each mission we once more became as close as siblings like we were before. Qoy also came, since he couldn't be away from me for more than a few days at a time, and much to his displeasure, he did have to change into his sword form once a day for a minimum of two hours.

Slowly things were turning into a natural rhythm. Beatrice now stayed in my room permanently, we also got a new bed from the fairy realm. Mercy worked with Galen as lady Aviva's personal guards whenever she had to leave the estate, I'd follow behind as a ghost guard if anything were to happen. Athena was loving her apprenticeship with Beatrice and enjoyed her work immensely. Athena also finally got Eliza to give the estate a go and she soon started training with the human guards once she accepted us.

Anon, Qoy and I worked as hunters, mainly alone but sometimes we would meet up with other hunters to work on a difficult job. During our time I met tones of different creatures, such as a kelpie, a Black Shuck, a coven of Sirens, a few Banshee's and a couple of Alp/Goblins just to name a few. I actually found it fun, except for the times we were too late to save a creature from the human Hunters, only finding their corpses in a silent clearing. That always hit me hard that I wasn't able to save them.

Adelle also finally cracked and now remained in her cell having told lady Aviva that a man had appeared before her and told her that we would be going through the portal at that time on that day. What chilled me with that was that she described Enrique as the man who had told her. How did he know we were leaving at that time and day?

It was strange because there's been no word on Enrique at all after the incidents in the fairy realm. Nothing at all, and that worried me. Lady Aviva has spies in his territory and has only received word that he wasn't in his castle and nothing was happening, at all. So a few years passed in a blur with nothing much happening and Athena finally deemed herself old enough to be changed.

She was a woman now with long wavy black hair and intellectual storm grey eyes. She was efficient in business and has started going on diplomatic missions on her own allowing the Deveraux business to expand exponentially. Eliza was her personal guard while on these trips having gotten over her hate for the creatures she once despised.

I stared at Athena from where I was leaning against Beatrice's desk in the library. Eliza stood behind her not looking all that impressed but knew that it wasn't worth the trouble of arguing with Athena who was more stubborn than a mule.

"So? Will you do it?" Athena asked and even though she was trying to put up a brave face, I could feel that she was incredibly nervous.

I sighed softly and turn my head to look at Beatrice sitting behind her desk. All I got from her was a slight shrug and a 'it's up to you' through our mind link making me sigh again.

"I already promised I would if you still wanted it when you were old enough... you're obviously old enough now so I can't decline." I let out slowly still not impressed with it all but if it's what Athena wants... she knew I couldn't deny her anything even if she now looked the same age as me.

"Yes!" Athena exclaimed happily and jumped on me making me laugh at her excitement. "The next full moon is tomorrow, so will you do it then?" She asked quickly pulling back from me.

"Okay, okay, I got it. I'll change you tomorrow during the full moon. So go get the room ready and get some rest too." I grumbled still frowning slightly.

"I love you Vaden." She told me seriously before kissing my cheek and running off, pulling Eliza along behind her.

I sighed again as she left and felt arms wrap around me from behind. "It's her choice, zhilat." Beatrice said while placing a kiss to the back of my neck that could now be easily accessed because of my recent haircut.

"I know, but doesn't mean I have to like it." I muttered while turning and wrapping my own arms around her. "Also, I'm scared I'm going to do something wrong. It'll be my first time changing anyone, you know."

"You'll do fine and Athena will survive the change easily. She isn't weak you of all people should know that."

"Of course I know that, I am the one that's training her." I sighed once more before I kissed Beatrice wanting her to take away my fears, which she did by flowing her love through our bond.

We pulled away and I started nuzzling her neck taking in her scent and warmth. "What was your change like?" I asked her after a minute of just standing there.

Beatrice froze and I pulled back feeling her sudden nervousness. She didn't look at me but at everything else while her hands clenched and unclenched my shirt in her grip. "I... I don't actually remember my change. I was only changed because it was the only way to save me."

"Save you?" I asked in wonder totally confused.

Beatrice nodded her head before sighing and pulling away from me. "Come sit with me, I want to tell you it." She told me and I followed her to the chairs in front of the fireplace. I sat down in one of the chairs and pulled her into my lap so that I could hold her.

"Well, I was changed three hundred years ago. It was because of Aviva that I'm alive right now and why we were changed as well." Beatrice took in a deep breath and relaxed into me as she started her story. "When I was a little girl I died from a disease that was spreading throughout our town. I only survived because Aviva made a deal, a deal with the Master to save me. The deal was that if I could live she'll give herself to him to change and abide by his orders forever. But she was young and didn't fully understand the complications making a deal like that would cause. Half my soul was taken away from me and we grew up with the chance that at any time the Master was going to appear and take Aviva away to change. I died again at the age of twenty-eight when an enemy of my family scent an assassin after us. The Master appeared again and Aviva made yet another deal. That he can change the both of us if it'll save me and we'll be in his service for a hundred years."

"You've died twice?" I asked in wonder. "What happened after your hundred years of service?"

"We were allowed back up to the mortal realm as long as we did his bidding whenever he needed us to." Beatrice shrugged.

"What happened to your soul, I mean your other half of it?"

"I don't know, I asked the Master but he never answered me. All I know is that it's lost to me and I will forever be like this."

"I don't mind that. I love you even if it's half or all of you." I told her seriously making her smile back at me and kiss me softly on my lips.

"I love you too." She whispered back.

"Good." I grinned before picking her up and flittered to our room and dropping her on our bed. I crawled over her and connected our lips together while I dropped my weight down onto her, keeping her pinned to the bed. I hummed softly at her moan while moving my lips over her cheek then along her jaw giving little nips and licks along the way.

"Please." Beatrice groaned when I started grinding my pelvis against her.

"Please what?" I asked teasingly as I positioned my thigh between her legs and moved it against her.

"Please love me Vaden." She moaned loudly making me very happy indeed.

"My pleasure love." I chuckled into her neck before I pulled back and kissed her on the lips as I moved my hands to start pushing up her dress. I couldn't be bothered to undo it so with a single thought the dress disintegrated along with her undergarments giving me a stunning view of my naked Mate. Running my hands over her smooth flesh I purred contently at feeling her. I swallowed her moans and cries and pleads as I worked my hands over her body before sliding them down into her.

She bucked against me as I felt her slickness engulfing my fingers and I grinned at her cry of ecstasy. In, out, in, out I loved her with my fingers as my mouth played with her pearled nipples. Tugging, liking, biting, loving, I had Beatrice quickly on edge and I loved how her fingers dug into my shoulders desperately.

"Vaden! Oh god Vaden!" She cried out while her body tensed around me before relaxing into the incredibly soft bed. "I love you." She breathed while hugging me tightly to her.

I chuckled against her. "And I, you, zhilat."

Pleasure sated we fell asleep.

The next day was busy with the preparation for Athena's change. I could feel the crazy power of the full moon making the mana go insane with excitement in everything I passed by. It's become easier to handle the strength of the full moon with every one that has gone past these last few years. The first few after the fairy realm war were incredibly difficult because my mind would slip into the insanity I was while in Enrique's control. I had to be chained down so that I wouldn't hurt anyone. Thankfully I am able to control it now.

I walked into the room chosen for Athena's change and found her already there in her night robes. I sighed softly while Beatrice supported me with a hand on my back. "You ready for this?" I asked the girl I have watched for the past fifteen years grow up to become a stunning and incredibly intelligent woman.

"Yes." She replied seriously while sitting down on the bed.

"Very well then, Beatrice if you'll open the window I'll get started." I instructed while I went over to Athena and nudged her gently to lie down. I sat beside her on the bed smiling softly when I felt Athena's nervousness. "Don't worry, if this is what you want, everything will be fine."

She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before she gave me a firm nod. "I want this."

"Okay, then just relax. I'm going to bite you now and it is going to hurt." I warned her while I concentrated on all the mana in the room, both the dark and the pure types. I felt the moons light on my back feeding the frenzy within me.

Again Athena breathed in slowly then back out relaxing her body and keeping her eyes closed. "I'm ready." She stated firmly and I smiled at my little, not so little now, girls resolve.

"Here we go then." I muttered while bending down moving her hair away from her neck, lying diagonally across her, and sunk my fangs into her neck releasing the pent up mana inside me into her.

I hated how she screamed. It nearly made me pull away from her but if I had it would have killed her and I would never do that. So I listened and felt as her soul and mind shattered like glass only to be melted down, reshaped and placed back together again only to be broken once more. The cycle repeated while I steadily streamed mana into her feeling and guiding it through her body and making sure that it combined smoothly with her own personal mana.

I released my teeth from her neck when I felt her body hum with the amount of mana within it now, changing and moulding her body to become something else. She had stopped screaming but a grimace still marred her face. I closed the wounds on her neck and wiped any blood away that had spilt before I sat there looking down at her doing another check to make sure her body and soul was accepting the changes correctly.

"She will be all right Vaden." Beatrice assured me while hugging me from behind. "She's strong and capable, and you did everything correctly. She should wake up in a week, a few days minimum."

I sighed softly still terribly afraid that something might go wrong, but I knew it was out of my hands now and I can only hope and pray that Athena will wake up again.

"Yeah, all right." I mumbled while standing up. After one last look and check over, we left the room and locked the door behind us. No one besides myself and Beatrice are allowed to enter that room now, until Athena has woken up.

"How'd it go?" Mercy asked from her place at the dining table when we entered.

"Everything went fine, her soul and mana didn't reject the change so soon her body will follow and she'll wake up soon enough." I answered with a not so confident smile unable to stop myself from worrying.

"I'm sure you did perfect and we'll have little Thena back amongst us soon enough." Ashwini assured me positively with a bright smile. Through the years Ashwini barely aged and still looked as young as she did when we had met so long ago. I guess that's understandable since she's an outstanding witch.

"Great another Nightwalker." Candy rolled her eyes exaggeratedly, though she had a smile on her face telling us that she was being sarcastic.

"Oh please, you know you love us." Arthur, a Nightwalker hunter I met out on the field on a job taking down a Süräle who was tickling people to death, nudged Candy while giving her a cheeky grin. When Arthur and I came back to the estate we found that Candy and Arthur were actually mates. It was amusing to see how Candy tried to fight the pull because she, for a reason I still don't know, really disliked Nightwalkers. Now they're madly in love and it's almost sickening, then again they can say the same thing about Beatrice and I.

"I love you." Candy responded and they started kissing making everyone roll their eyes.

"Anyway," Eliza drawled while turning her back on the couple. "Will Athena be all right?"

"She's going to be completely fine, don't worry about it." Beatrice assured the worried human who was now the commander of the human guard and married with two rascals for kids with another human guard named Jonah.

"Good." She sighed while rubbing her bulging stomach. Yeah, another rascal on its way but this one's female unlike the older boys, so maybe she won't be so bad. I want to tell her so much that she's having a girl but she won't let me. I can sense through the mana of the growing baby if it's going to be a male or female, that's how I know.

The doors to the dining hall opened and lady Aviva walked in looking more furious than I've ever seen her before. She stormed into the dining hall fuming. Her usual perfected hairstyle was messy and frizzy. Her gold eyes shined molten with her fury. Her nose even flared with each breath she took. She looked utterly terrifying.

What she had in her hand was even worse.
