I FEEL FINE

‧ : *: ‧ °✧

“hey, chickee.” beverly's soft spoken voice sounds from beside y/n, causing her to lift her head.

the sleepy y/e/c eyed girl hums in response.

“we should get up now, yeah? maybe go out to the movies or something.”

“no. if we go out there's a huge possibility that we'll see henry and the gang. or ryder and the gang. or those annoying ass losers.”

the red head chuckles at her best friend's words, lifting the blanket off the both of them.

she had spent the night yesterday, and as they were watching television they fell asleep on the couch.

“what if we go out to rio's? you haven't seen him in a while.”

at the sound of river's name, the female perks up, a dull feeling of guilt in her chest for not visiting him as often as she could've.

“okay.” y/n chuckles as beverly does a small dance of excitement.

the two girls get up and head down the hall to y/n's room, taking turns showering, brushing their teeth, and getting dressed.

once done, they grab their bikes and head into town.

it doesn't take too long for them to arrive at rio's, the sight before them, causing a gasp to fall past their lips.

the building was crumbled, only a shadow of the building being left behind.

y/n glances around and urges bev to follow her to the back, as she had just seen a van pull up there.

just as they park their bikes, the familiar head of blonde hair hops out of the car.

“river!” the female shouts, a frown now etched onto her face. he smiles at her, immediately opening his arms wide.

they hug as if they hadn't seen each other in years, hands grasping tightly to one another, eyes squeezed shut as they enjoy the embrace.

all too soon, the hug you ends, a content sigh leaving the female's lips.

beverly steps up and hugs the boy as well, blushing as he pecks the top of her head—they may or may not have gone on a few dates.

“what happened?” y/n asks, ignoring the pang in her chest at the sight of her lovestruck friends.

it seemed as if as soon as she lost her love, everyone else found one.

“uh, it's a long story.” he nervously chuckles. both shorter females give him a look as if to say “we have time”.

“why don't we all go to mine?” river suggests, “you can put your bikes in the back of the van.”

“sure.”

“so you burned the building down yourself?” beverly asks, pale fingers brushing back a few stray strands of the boy's hair.

y/n's mouth turns to a frown, and she immediately looks away. she missed doing that to patrick's soft truffs.

he chuckles dryly, nodding.

“god, you must think i'm crazy now.”

“it's not you that's crazy. it's this god damn town. something about it just isn't right. the atmosphere causes people to do some fucked up things.” the y/h/c haired girl huffs, eyes watering a bit.

river notices and scoots a tiny ways away from beverly, one arm extended, urging y/n to snuggle with him.

she shakes her head, forcing a smile, her bottom lip quivering. she let's out a curse, willing herself to stop, but as the boy eggs her on some more, she finds herself falling apart.

the younger, red haired, female sends the two a soft smile and heads to the kitchen, wanting to give them some space.

rio pulls the small girl into his arms, hands comfortingly rubbing along her back. his heart ached for her, they'd known each other for so long and he had seen every single she'd been through. he wished things were different, that he was the one to be hurt instead of her.

“i'm sorry, riv. i'm making this all about me when you have your—” she hiccups, cutting herself off. she has never cried this hard in her entire life, “i should just go home.”

the boy hushes her, his grip tightening so that she can't go away.

“let it all out, y/n/n.”

and boy, does she.

“i just wanna go back to how things used to be. before i started going to derry high, before i started hanging with the gang, before i let myself fall in love.” those last three words slip off of tongue like venom.

“you and patrick?” river questions, having known the two liked each other but not being informed if they ever got together.

y/n nods, “a-and i feel so selfish, for always complaining and crying on someone's shoulder but it seems like i never gets break. i've changed so much and god, i fucking hate it.”

“hey, look at me.” he grabs her chin, forcing her to look up, “don't you ever let anyone tell you you're being selfish for putting yourself first every once in a while. as long as i've known you, l/n, you've always been there for me. you're always there for anyone who needs you. i hate that it seems like all the good people always have something bad happening to them, they don't deserve it. you don't deserve it. you're strong and you're wise. you're beautiful, you're caring, you're so damn positive about everyone and everything. these are just a few bumps in the road, alright? you of all people can get through this. i promise. and i'll be here the whole time.”

y/n's cries soon turn into soft whimpers, and then after that she's just left sniffling. she thanks the phoenix boy about a million times, pecking his cheek and then heading up the stairs to the bathroom to freshen up.

once done, she heads back down stairs to find beverly and river fast asleep on the couch, legs and arms entwined as they cuddled.

she smiles to herself, happy that her two best friends found love and comfort within one another.

after writing a short note and leaving it on the kitchen counter, y/n takes her bike out of the van's trunk and rides off, deciding that some time to herself if exactly what she needed.

as she peacefully rides along the road, a car pulls up beside her, one of it's windows rolling down and a familiar voice shouts out of it.

“hey, ace!” mason teases, a grin on his face.

the female scoffs, pedaling harder.

the boy slowly drives behind her the entire time, parking his car in her driveway and following her up the porch into her house.

“what's up, mase?” y/n hums, pouring the both of them a glass of water.

the tall boy shrugs.

“nothing much. everyone else is out on dates or whatever so i was just coming to see if i could hang here?”

“no.” she shakes her head, giggling when he frowns, “you can take me out, let me go for a spin in the delorean.”

mason chuckles, lips parted as he processes what she just asked for.

“you want to drive?” his eyebrows are furrowed, “are you sure? will i go to jail for lettin’ you?”

y/n nudges the boy, a curt smile on her lips.

“won’t know 'less you try.”

“okay, okay! slow down!” a not-so-manly yelp falls from the boy's mouth, causing the girl in the driver's seat to slam on the breaks.

she glances over at him and laughs hysterically at his shooken up expression.

“oh come on, i ain't that bad.”

she presses her foot back on the gas, speeding into town. mason glances around with worry, hoping there are no cops around.

as he's looking, he catches sight of a familiar head of black hair, and he glances over at y/n, who's now driving at a steady pace with a grin on her lips.

patrick was with someone—a girl. their lips were locked as he had her pushed up against the brick wall of the theater.

“pull over.” the blue eyed boy speaks, monotonously.

the y/s/c skinned female furrows her eyebrows, lips falling into a pout as she slows the car down.

just to mason's luck she stops in front of the building where patrick and the girl were on the verge of hooking up, and he sits up taller, trying to block the view.

“what's wrong?” y/n questions, “why’re you making that face?”

she begins to move in her seat, trying to look behind him. when she finally sees it though, her heart falls out of her ass.

her posture immediately slouches, a sudden numbness spreading all around her body.

mason grabs both of her cheeks and forces her to look up at him, his eyes holding so much sympathy.

he glances behind him to find patrick staring right back, eyes shocked and confused.

the hayes boy quickly turns back to face y/n, leaning so close that their lips are practically touching.

he can feel patrick hockstetter's eyes burning the back of his head.

“maso—”

“just trust me.” he pleads, his eyes searching hers as he desperately waits for a response.

y/n's eyes flicker behind him once more before locking with his deep blue ocean eyes. she felt as if she was in a trance as she felt herself nod, eyes fluttering shut as they both leaned in, lips meeting in an intense kiss and sending sparks flying everywhere.

this kiss was much more different than one she had ever felt before—it was the kind of kiss you read about in fairytale, or saw on television.

it was the kind of kiss that left you yearning for more, craving the person who's lips it belonged to.

the teen girl wraps her arms loosely around mason's neck, fingers messing with the tiny curls at the back of his head.

they pull apart a few seconds later, eyes glazed over and mouths swollen and red.

y/n looks behind mason one last time, only to find that patrick and his new toy are gone. she stares off at the road ahead of her for a few moments, eyes blank and deprived of any emotion.

until suddenly, she breaks out into a small giggle, smiling so wide her cheeks begin to hurt.

she takes this as a fresh start, a way to go back and do things differently. mason glances at her confusedly, though a smile is now on his face too.

he watches in adoration as the female puts the car into ignition and slowly begins to drive off.

his heart flutters in his chest when she takes one hand off of the wheel and intertwines their fingers.

neither of them bother to look back, not noticing that the hockstetter boy is peaking out of the theater doors, his eyebrows furrowed and eyes sad.
