DANGER DANGER
‧ : *: ‧ °✧
"help me!" the sudden shrill scream of a child causes y/n to jump from her sleeping state. she reaches around the grass for her jean jacket.
once she finds it she shoves her hand into the pocket, gripping the pocket knife tightly.
the dry grass crunches beneath her chucks as she walks toward where the screaming was heard.
"help, please!" the same voice cries out, causing her to quicken her steps. she ends up climbing up a dirt hill, her eyes widening as she gets to the top and sees her four boys strangling a little boy.
anger surges through her veins a the sight. yes, she knew very well that they were the most feared gang in town but they hadn't done anything extravagant in a while. she thought maybe they'd changed.
walking on the tips of her toes, the teenage girl goes further away from them before hopping over the fence. she bites her bottom lip in concentration as she speaks up behind them, gripping the knife so tightly it's sure to leave a dent in her skin.
as soon as she's close enough, she lets out an angry shout.
"what the hell is this?"
the sudden interruption causes the boy's to all jump, dumbfounded expressions adjourning each of their faces.
"bab-"
"shut up." she rolls her eyes, though deep down the nickname causes her heart to flutter, "let the boy go."
"what? hell no." henry snaps, tightening his grip on the whimpering child.
y/n's eyes lock with patrick's and she pouts, knowing he'll chicken out and convince henry to stop.
"h-henry maybe we should
leave him be."
the mullet wearing boy
glares at his tall friend.
"i said no, the answer is no. the little shit made me look like a fool a few weeks ago at school, i've been trying to find him ever since. i'll do this with or without you."
"sorry to rain on your parade, bowers, but you always look like a fool." the shorter female laughs dryly. her eyes lock with kid's pleasing brown ones and that's enough to set her off.

without even thinking, she flips the knife open and cuts off a chunk of henry's hair.
the young man yelps, letting go of the kid to touch the back of his head where his mullet once was.
"are you fucking kidding me?" he growls, turning to his cousin, eyes looking almost completely black as anger boils deep within him.
she watches happily as the chubby little boy runs away. she's so caught up in the moment that she doesn't notice henry making his way towards her, his fists clenched tightly.
y/n doesn't turn her gaze back to the boy's until she's being pushed to the ground.
"hey! the hell was that for?!" she can barely even blink before two strong arms are pulling her up and tugging her away.
"patrick what're you doing?" she pulls herself out of his grip but continues to speed walk beside him.
the boy doesn't answer, instead intertwining their fingers and walking until he thinks they're as far away from henry as possible.
"i just didn't want you gettin' hurt." he shrugs, his tongue poking out to wet his bottom lip.
"what are you talking about? take me back to the barrens, i wanna hang out with you gu-"
"no, lil' bit. henry's not in the best mood right now and i don't want him to do something to you, so could you maybe...i dunno, hang at rio's or something?"
"henry wouldn't hurt me on purpose." she crosses her arms across her chest, eyebrows furrowing.
"he just tried to man-handle you, there's no telling what he'll do."
"i don't care, i can stick up for myself. i wanna be here with you, 'trick." at the sound of her voice cracking, the cerulean eyed boy huffs.
"look, let me just help the boy's call henry down and then you and i can do what-"
"oh wait, it's that kid you guys were just tryna kill. nevermind, pat, i'll just hang with him." y/n begins to walk off but the hockstetter boy quickly grabs her by the wrist.

"don't be too long, please?" a hint of jealousy is in his voice at the thought of another boy hanging out with his girl. the female nods, once again trying to walk away but his grip on her wrist doesn't loosen.
"is there something else you need?" she raises an eyebrow, an amused expression on her face.
"a kiss." he mumbles, looking down at the ground. his girlfriend giggles, pushing his hair out his face before reaching up to leave a short peck on his lips.

"i'm still feeling really bad about earlier." the female huffs, causing ben-she'd learned his name a few hours ago after offering him some ice cream-to chuckle.
"it's really no problem, you can't control anyone else's actions but your own."
by now, it was dark outside. the two teens had been wandering around town for a while now, stopping in and out of stores.
as they walk down the street they hear a bunch of kids shouting. almost immediately after, y/n hears a familiar yell, causing her to run into the alley with ben following quickly behind.
much to her dismay, the young female is met with six kids throwing rocks at the gang.
"why does this keep happening?" she mutters, obviously not quiet enough as all heads turn to her.
ben stays hidden behind her taller figure, his head just barely peeking out from behind her as he recognizes the six kids as his friends.
"well hello there, darling." a little boy with thick black glasses smirks, about to step towards her when a rock hits him right in the middle of his forehead.
y/n bites her lip to hold back a chuckle, instead glaring at her boyfriend who sends her a wink.
"are you friends with them?" a red headed female calls out, and y/n's hard expression softens. she hasn't been friends with a girl in a long time.
"uh y-yeah, sadly."
"hey what's that supposed to mean?" patrick yelps, glaring at the female he was proud to call his.
she only sends him a huge smile before walking to the side of the alley the losers were on.
she helps richie up, ignoring the flirtatious comments he makes towards her. she could feel her boyfriend's eyes burning the back of her head.
"i'm y/n." she gives them all her signature smile, the one that made people fall for her quicker than the speed of lightning.
"i'm richie tozier, but you
can call me da-"
"i'm beverly." the red head cuts the glasses clad boy off, hitting him in the back of his head, "and that's bill, stanley, eddie, mike, and i'm assuming you already know ben."
"yeah, i do. well, it was nice meeting you all, i should probably go before those doofuses over there have a cow." y/n giggles, "will i see you all at school?"
"we're all sophomores in high school so, yes, we'll see you." stanley speaks up. the oldest female of the group nods, waving one last time before running over to the gang.
as soon as she reaches patrick he playfully slaps her butt, glaring at her.
"tell me you did not just befriend our enemies." his voice is husky as he whispers in her ear.
"whoops." she shrugs, a nervous laugh falling past her lips.
the gang all make it back to the bowers' house, a wave of laziness felt throughout each of them as they had all been out since early in the morning.
"goodnight, ladies." henry calls, going upstairs to his room after locking the front door.
belch and victor go into their designated guest rooms, leaving patrick to tag behind y/n into her room like the lovesick teen he is.
as soon as she closes her room door, he pushes her against it, his lips capturing hers as they mold together like puzzle pieces.
he pulls away only for a quick second, mumbling a quiet "jump" as he holds her waist.
turns out the two of them weren't as tired as the rest, but they surely would be the next morning.

The Wandering Scholar
Zhou Mingzie, A young Chinese American is suddenly brought into a mythical land, similar to China in many ways, but is most definitely not. This new world appears to contain cultivation elements like the Wuxia and Xanxia stories he read throughout highschool, but he can also gain Levels and Skills, I mean Paths and Techniques. Sure he is Chinese, but he grew up in America, so he doesn't want to ascend to the heavens and fight spirit beasts, does he? But Mom wants him to embrace his heritage more...jk...unless? [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Inspired heavily by The Wandering Inn and Beware of the Chicken, as well as cultivation novels in general, this story hopes to take a Westernish approach to the standard Cultivation approach, being more subtle and changing how it approaches the standard tropes of the genre, without abandoning them entirely.
