《bloodied arrogance || crowley eusford》17

some time has gone by since you'd initially started reading for real, and crowley has yet to say a single word to you, though he's moved around quite a lot.
honestly, you're convinced he's been getting a little closer each time he's shifted or changed positions. but then again, he hadn't ever left much space between the two of you anyway.
you were honestly just getting more and more irritated by the lack of space between yourself and the vampire, and you clench you're teeth in an attempt to calm down your bubbling anger. the proximity makes you a little bit anxious, and for good reason. the vampires are your enemy, it is not normal or okay to sit here and do nothing while he acts like it's a normal day. it only frustrated you further knowing that you have no choice in the matter right now. all you can do is wait patiently, (which you've never been good at) and hope that an opportunity to escape presents itself.
i miss my friends
your heart aches to see the faces of your comrades again, and even shinya and naromi. you've already asked crowley about guren many times over the span of the six days you've been here. yet, each time you asked, you only got the same response.
"the lieutenant colonel found himself unable to do the right thing for anyone. but he is still alive."
those words have been bugging you, but no matter how much you prod for an elaboration on those discomforting words, crowley refuses to offer you one. usually he just tells you that there's nothing more to say, or that the rest of the story will only upset you. you hope that he's only trying to scare you. you pretend that it's not working.
after a while you feel the vampire shift beside you once more, and the fabric of his white pant leg brushing your bare thigh as it now rests beside it. your anger only grows as crowley leans back, raising his head to gaze at you curiously while you ignore his movements.

crowley is very patient most of the time, and the only time he seems to run out of such patience is when you start a one sided screaming match. you haven't started one yet today, but you're very close now. you know crowley is only trying to irritate you, and the fact that it's working is even more annoying, and that fact alone makes you want to rip the vampires face clean off.
"hey." the vampire hisses into your ear quietly. his book now rests on the cushion beside him, the corner of the page he was reading folded down to keep place of where he left off.
stubbornly, you continue to skim over the words on the fragile paper pages. you take in the literature as you try to become so enthralled in the story that it drowns out crowleys voice entirely.
"we should play a game..." crowley suggests, trailing off with a thoughtful tone. he hums quietly as he thinks about some kind of game to play, allowing you to be ignorant of his words for the time being.
you flip through pages idly as they get boring, searching for pages where the content picks up again, bringing back the interest you'd felt when you first opened the book.
the vampires head falls onto the back of the couch, and he glances over at you lazily as you stare down at the words you're scanning.
"i can't think of a game. can you?" he questions, reaching out a gloved hand tugg gently at a strand of hair in front of your face. you continue on with your blank responses, offering no type of expression in return to his demands for your attention. "we don't have to play a game, you can just read aloud. i'll listen."
your grip on the hard cover book tightens a little, and you furrow you're brows as annoyance bubbles beneath the surface of your skin. "no. i do have a game go play though..."
you turn to crowley, who's face is half a foot away from yours as his cheek rests against the cushioning. you catch his curious expression, and offer a sly smirk.

"it's called the silent game, and basically-" crowley's hand snaps up to cover your mouth, rendering you silent as the emotion in his eyes switches from questioning to mischievous.
"i don't really like that one." he states, his nose crinkling as he speaks, disapproving of your choice of game. if you didn't know what this creature really is, and what he's done, you would probably find his little action endearing, cute even. but you do know, you know all too well. you feel a churning in your stomach, and ignore it.
"really? cause it's my favorite game." you retort, your voice muffled beneath his glove.
he nods slowly, almost in understanding. "we can't play that game, though. we both suck at being quiet."
you raise an eyebrow. while that's true on most occasions, you want nothing more than for peace and quiet right now. in fact, that's basically all you've wanted since you've been here. crowley lowers his hand away from your lips, allowing you to speak freely once more.
"well then i guess we'll need to compromise." you sigh, turning back to your book. "of you could just let me read in peace."
the vampire frowns, letting out a stubborn huff of air. "there's a game i want to play, but you wouldn't enjoy it very much. and you just said, we should compromise." crowley's tone is disappointed, but you know already that it's just an act.
"good, then don't tell me about it." you shrug, picking up where you left off in the book that rest in your lap.
crowley adjusts his position, lifting his head to rest it on his arm. "so hard headed, where do you get this attitude from?"
"oh this? we actually call it personality where i come from. y'know what else we call it? anger. this is the anger of my family." you continue when crowley looks lost, his eyebrows knitting together with obvious confusion. "yuu, shinoa, yoichi, kimizuki, and guren."
crowley nods exaggeratedly at your statement. he huffs out another breath of air. "i see. so you're saying that your friends make you so full of rage?"
you blanch at his utter incompetence and failure at perceiving what you said correctly. you slam the book closed, ignoring the fact that you didn't mark your page.
"no!" you shout. "every ounce of anger i feel is theirs too, their emotion fuels me as much as my own! you may not get it, and that's fine, i don't need you to. you can mistake it for anything except that they're the cause for any of my anger. you are, your kind is. my friends, my family, just gives me the strength to use it."
crowley looks unfazed at your outburst, but he nods again once you've finished shouting. "i see." he says again, propping his chin up on his hand as he looks at you more closely. "i guess that makes sense."
no argument? nothing about how you should forget them?
it doesn't matter.
"you want to save them?" he asks, though you're sure he already knows the answer to that question.
you nod, sure of your answer. "i don't care if it kills me."
something in crowleys expression shifts, but it's so subtle you can't be sure it even happened. you shake it off.
"i see." this is the third time he's said it, and each time you hear it you want to slap him. what does he keep saying if for? usually he'd argue, telling you that they'll die anyway. what is he playing at?
you shrug it off.
"now i've lost my place in my book. thanks for nothing, you asshole." you grit out, opening your book and flicking through pages to find the one you were reading.
crowley's smirk returns to grace his sharp features, and he shrugs lazily. "you closed the book yourself, don't blame me y/n."
you sigh, continuing to search the pages of your fascinating read.

Magriculture (Rewrite)
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit. Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed. Disclaimer: This is a rewrite of the original "Magriculture", which some of you may have read. (To those who did, you have my deepest gratitude, it is absolutely because of your patronage and comments that this rewrite happened, and I feel the story is better for it.) That said, this story is not a complete and polished work, there will be mistakes and errors, an occasionally these errors may mean I need to rewrite portions of the story (as of this posting the story has gone through two major rewrites already, and I'm seriously hoping there won't be need of a third.) Because of this, there may at times be changes. Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will. Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If you're looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.
