《bloodied arrogance || crowley eusford》15

just as he said he would, crowley finds you food that you can eat. of course, that's after sending chess out to get it for you. she comes back with some kind of food you haven't seen before, but it both looks and smells pretty good after it's cooked properly.
you're given a glass of water and cutlery after crowley places your plate in front of you, giving you a small smile. "i don't know how good it'll be since chess made it. to be honest i think horn might have done it better." he laughs, glancing back at the purple haired vampire who pouts.
"i did my best, okay!" she whines, her red eyes narrowing as her gaze rests on you. you shrug at her, your uncaring attitude making the girl pout more.
"lord crowley, why don't we just kill her? is she really that important? you're treating her like a guest! not a prisoner." chess whines pathetically, earning no attention from crowley. he ignores her, opting to instead, watch you as you eat, as if he can't both respond and stare at you at the same time.
you pretend that you don't hear chess' question, or at least that you don't care. you simply continue with your task, finishing this food and the whole glass of water as fast as you can without getting the hiccups.
finally, chess heaves our a sigh, he shoulders dropping in defeat. "okay, lord crowley. i'll leave it as it is. i just don't want anyone to get into trouble." you try not to laugh at the vampires display of concern for crowley. it's not supposed to be funny, but it is.
"it's quite alright chess. i understand your concern, but i assure you it'll be fine. i've spoken with ferid." crowley informa chess, as if that one small piece of information is supposed to put everything into perspective.
you finish your food, placing the fork back onto the plate and finishing the rest of the water quickly. you lean back in your chair, raising an eyebrow at crowley in suspicion.
"i trust you lord crowley. i'll go now." chess turns away, hurrying out of the room. you're confused at her willingness to accept such a bland answer. you can't believe the vampires talk about humans having blind loyalty when she's barely getting an explanation for crowley putting her life in danger too. after all, she's technically doing the same as crowley.

crowley looks back at you once chess has left, taking your empty plate and glass from the table. "we should go back upstairs. we still need to have that discussion."
you tilt your head, frowning at the mention of this apparent talk you're going to have. you're sure it's not going to be about anything you'll want to hear.
either way, you don't care. there's not much you can do right now besides listen. you shrug, opting for the path of least resistance for the time being.
crowley smiles, beckoning for you to follow him back upstairs.
once you're inside the familiar room which you've spent nearly all day trapped inside, you turn to crowley. "what do you want to talk about?" you ask, placing your hands on your hips.
"i'll tell you..." the vampire trails off, braising your hair out of your face and off your shoulder. "but my fang marks are gone, and i don't like that others cannot see that you're mine." crowley's voice is laced with a hint of aggression. the harshness of his time sending a shiver down your spine as you take a step back.
"i don't belong to you." you remind him harshly, reaching a hand up to cover your neck. you grimace. "i don't belong to anyone."
crowley's once playful smile turns almost sadistic. he places one of his gloved hands over yours on your neck, holding it gently. his grasp and his expression are complete contrasts.
there's nothing you can do to stop the vampire as he moves quickly, and soon you find your back landing against the material of your self claimed couch.
"that's what we need to talk about, y/n." he says, holding both your hands above your head with one of his own, the other now caressing over the spot he's chosen to bite.
you squirm underneath the weight of the vampire, but you know that there's nothing you can do. he's far too strong for you to escape from his grasp.
he leans in close to your face, his nose is nearly touching your own, but not quite. he lets out particularly long exhale, closing his eyes and breathing in again, deeper.
"your blood smells so good i can barely hold back." he whines, pulling his face away from yours and instead burying it in the crook your neck. "but i don't want to hurt you."

"get off." you hiss, pushing at his stone chest with the heels of your hands. it's a feeble attempt to escape, you know that, yet there's nothing else you can do.
you can feel his warm breath, and the way he smiles against your exposed skin. the feeling of his fangs grazing your neck makes you shudder.
"no." he grumbles, the sound of his voice muffled by your shoulder. "you're mine." he chuckles again, the feeling of his reverberating through your shoulder and neck. "i can't change that, and neither can you."
you're growing confused. you have no idea what kind of nonsensical crap he's talking about, but it's not making sense. how can this be the conversation he had been so serious about before? he just wanted to remind you that you belong to him? you know that's not how this works.
"what the fu-" before you can finish your sentence crowley's buried his fangs into your neck, the horrible feeling of discomfort returning just like last time. you whimper quietly as he pushes his fangs in a little bit deeper.
you hate this, as anyone would. it stings, and while eventually you get used to it, it's still uncomfortable. you know it's going to bother you for days, just like last time.
crowley pulls back, and you can feel droplets of your blood sliding off your shoulder and onto the white couch, staining the leather with your DNA.
"i can't help it." the vampire claims, a serious expression on his face as he looks down at you. there's an intensity in his eyes that's not aggressive, or remorseful, but it is intense. he stares at you. "since the last time we met my body has slowly been losing the ability to stomach any blood. today i found out why."
your interest is piqued with the noble's words, but you don't say anything. you wait for him to continue in silence. you're sure that if you tried to speak, your voice would crack and you would cry.
crowley finds his words. "you are mine. like i said, there's nothing i can do about that, same goes for yourself. do you know what that means?" crowley's eyes seem somewhat hopeful. as if he doesn't want to put a label to what it is he's referring to. as if it's something he doesn't want.
you think you're getting the general idea of crowley is saying, but is can't possibly be true. sure, you've heard stupid stories from some of the higher ups, and even guren mentioned the rumors to you once or twice.
vampires have soulmates. perhaps that's not accurate. everyone has a soulmate, but the vampires are much more aware of such connections. their instinct for blood and their sense of smell for it is instantly attracted to the soulmate. once they've had their soulmates blood, they cannot go back to the normalcy of drinking any blood from any victim.
you had been told by guren it was just a funny story. now you're finding out that it's true, and your soulmate is a vampire?
you shake your head. "i do know what it means. but it doesn't mean i care." you grit out, glaring up at crowley as he leans over you, you will not allow yourself to believe his words.
"y/n." his voice is stern and serious once more, his eyebrows creasing as he frowns. "i cannot betray you now. i will protect you. they say your soulmate brings back your human emotions... i-" crowley stops speaking. he moves away from you quickly. he's at the other side of the room in a flash, leaving you lying there so confused and uneasy.
"forget it. i have work to do, don't bother me." without another word, crowley takes a seat at his desk, opening a drawer to examine more paperwork, just like he'd been doing most of the day before he left earlier.
"lucky for me i didn't want to talk to you anyway." you mumble, rolling over to face the couches cushions, looking down at drops of blood that spilled onto it from the corner of your eye. you sigh, closing your eyes.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
