"We're going to leave the dorm in around ten minutes. Can you be ready in twenty?" I ask.
"Yeah, can do. Just text me when you get here and I'll come out; I don't want you guys to be late because of me."
"Okay, great. See you soon, Rin!"
"Right. 'Night, Yoongi."
I laugh from the other end of the line. "Hah, right, almost forgot. Goodnight, Rin."
She hangs up and I jam my phone into my pocket, running around to make sure everyone's ready for the shoot.
"Guys, Rin's going to tag along with us. Is that okay?" I ask to an empty room. Our dorm's not the largest, so even though the living room is devoid of people, I still get responses.
"Wait, Rin's coming back?" Seokjin queries, coming in from the kitchen with a half-eaten granola bar in hand.
"We're gonna pick her up."
"Did you run it by Manager-nim?"
"Shit, I did not. Lemme go tell him. Tell the others, okay?"
Seokjin sighs and gives me a pat on the shoulder. "Yeah, Yoongi, I gotcha. Just be fast, okay? The less time Manager-nim has to fix the schedule, the angrier he'll be."
"I know," I reply. "Thanks, Jin."
"No problem," he says as I turn away. I put on my shoes and leave the dorm, taking the elevator and booking it through a back entrance to get to the company van where my manager is waiting.
I pull open the passenger's door and take a seat beside my manager with a nervous smile on my face. He seems surprised by my attendance and exhales in mild exasperation.
"Yoongi-yah? You're the first one down here?" He chuckles. "That's a first."
"I was just ready earlier than usual, I guess," I manage. My voice comes out strained, and the stress I'm facing is evident in how I respond. Of course, what with my manager being far from an idiot, he gives me a quizzical look.
"You okay, Yoongi? Something on your mind?"
"Yeah, actually. Uh, I kinda just invited my friend Rin to go with us on this shoot. I told her we'd pick her up."
"Typical." Manager-nim clicks his tongue after the word leaves his mouth. "You're so impulsive, Yoongi."
"I know, I'm sorry. Should I cancel?"
"Nah, it's fine. We've got time. Where does she live? I'll just put it in the GPS now."
"Thank you, hyung. It means so much," I say, bowing a little in my seat. I then proceed to give him the address, and as I'm doing so Namjoon, Hoseok, and Jungkook enter the van.
"So, Rin, huh?" Namjoon questions.
"Yeah? What about her?"
"I don't know. I don't even think I saw her when she came over last week, I was working." Come to think of it, Namjoon's right. He still hasn't met her.
Idle chat begins to fill the van as the final three boys enter. From there, we make a quick trip to Rin's flat. Manager-nim pulls into the driveway and gives me a pointed look.
"Go get her, kid. Wouldn't want to keep your date waiting."
"Right," I stutter out as I free myself from the confines of my seatbelt and step out of the van. Halfway up her driveway, I realize I never denied that Rin is my date. Oh, well. Too late now.
I knock on the door and then ring the doorbell, worried my prior action wouldn't be enough to get her attention. After about forty-five seconds the door opens and I nearly fall off the front step.
Rin looks drop-dead gorgeous.
The first thing I notice is her hair. It's been black for awhile, but now the ends have been dyed a sharp teal that complements her incredibly well. She's also sporting a black skater dress and high heels that match her hair almost perfectly. It's almost like looking at a completely different person. Rin is the definition of a dress for comfort kind of person, so seeing her all dolled up like this is somewhat surreal.
"You okay, Yoongi? You're drooling." Rin laughs, snapping me from my reverie.
"Oh, shit, am I?" My hand flies to my mouth immediately, but the only response I get is Rin's laughter.
"No, I was messing with you. Don't we have to go? Come on!" She places a hand on my shoulder and we walk back to the van. I open up the passenger's door and offer my seat to Rin, partly because it's the gentlemanly thing to do, and partly because right now I want her as far away from Namjoon as possible.
"Thanks, Yoongi," she says, stepping into the van. I close her door and then jump in the back seat, where I'm met with Namjoon having a coughing fit. I swear I'm going to kill him one of these days, because his throat is fine. I'm pretty sure he just choked on his own spit seeing Rin for the first time.
"Hello, Rin!" How are you doing today?" Jin asks, covering for Namjoon in such a way that I will certainly be thanking him later. "You look lovely, by the way."
"I'm doing well, Jin, and thank you. I figured I might as well dress up if I'm going to a photo shoot."
At this, our manager speeds off to our shooting location, which is thankfully indoors today. We're doing a sponsorship shoot with a smaller, startup clothing company, and we need female models to work the women's end of their new line. It takes us about twenty minutes to get there, and everyone is chatting contentedly the whole way. We're a couple minutes late by the time we arrive, so Manager-nim instructs us to get inside as quickly as possible and wait for him there. As I'm hauling ass out of the van, I hear him ask Rin to hang back for a few minutes so she isn't seen walking with us. I sigh and give her an apologetic look over my shoulder as I enter the venue with my bandmates.
We enter the building and immediately apologize for our lateness. Sangmi, our photo shoot director, is waiting for us. She's a woman of about forty with a hot temper and strict regulations, but she's always around when we do photo shoots to make sure that no one's being forced to do anything we'd be super uncomfortable with. Big Hit works in tandem with Sangmi's modeling agency when we do business. Her models will be joining us on this shoot today.
"Sorry we're late, Sangmi-noona," Namjoon begins, giving a full ninety-degree bow. We all follow suit.
"It's fine, just hurry up and get to your stylists. I have bigger things to worry about."
"Is something wro—"

"Go do your makeup!" Sangmi interrupts me as I try to voice my concerns. Guess she doesn't want to talk about it.
We all hurry over to where the stylists are waiting for us, and I'm promptly thrown towards a dressing room to put on the first set of clothes I'll be modeling for the day. I change quickly, and as I'm coming out of the dressing room, I notice a very confused Rin being pushed towards me by a half relieved, half irate Sangmi.
"Get her some clothes and pair her with Jungkook," Sangmi tells one of the stylists. The younger girl just nods and quickly pulls Rin away by the arm.
As Rin is tugged away from me, Sangmi lets out a heavy sigh. "Now, that's taken care of," she breathes.
"What's the problem, noona?" I ask, sitting down at a stylist's request to have my hair done.
"One of my new models was late to her first shoot. That girl who you just saw me talking to was supposed to be here half an hour ago."
In spite of myself, I laugh. "Sangmi, that's not your model."
"What do you mean?"
"That's my friend, Rin. She was just supposed to tag along for the shoot today, not model anything. She isn't even a model."
"Well, she is now. She's stunning, and I need her."
"Well, you're right about that."
From there, my hair is styled so heavily that I'm convinced it's eighty-percent hairspray, and then my makeup is done. The first outfit I'm modeling is a black and white bomber jacket, a blue t-shirt, and black skinny jeans with white sneakers. I'm led up to the set, which is just a white backdrop, and am paired with a model whose name I believe is Yeonji. She's nice enough, and we take some photos just goofing around once we get comfortable with each other. As I look around, I see Seokjin taking photos with another model, and Jungkook standing around awkwardly. Rin is still over in the stylists' area getting her makeup done.
When Yeonji and I have finished our first set of photos, we're both thrust back into separate dressing rooms to put on our second bout of clothing. This time, it seems I'll be looking a bit more preppy, wearing khakis, a white button-down, and a blue sweater and tie, as well as some black glasses. I'll admit, I look nice, albeit a bit douchey.
After leaving the dressing room I have a quick makeup touch-up done and then wait my turn to go again. As promised, Rin is currently working with Jungkook on the white set, and things aren't going well. Rin's new to this, and Jungkook's terrible with girls, so it's not much of a surprise that they both look incredibly uncomfortable. Sangmi, standing near the camera, seems to get more agitated by the second. Finally, she looks to me and then stalks up onto the set.
"Jungkook-ah, I love you to death, but what is going on here? You're normally so good about this."
"I—" He begins, but Rin sweeps in to save him.
"Sorry, Sangmi-ssi, I'm just not used to this. It's not Jungkook's fault; he's doing all he can. I just don't really know what's going on."
"It's not just you, Rin," Sangmi counters, shooting Jungkook a sideways glance that nearly knocks him flat. "Jungkook seems very uncomfortable working with you, and I cannot fathom why. For the sake of speeding this up, I'm just going to have you shoot with Yoongi. Is that okay?"
Quickly, Rin responds with a nod, and Sangmi beckons me to the set. I approach and Sangmi gives us a few quick guidelines for the shoot, the most important of which being to "have fun" and "not be afraid to joke around." Something tells me we will not have a problem with that.
Rin has changed into a black dress with a white collar that's practically the definition of Wednesday Addams. I won't lie, she looks great. She shoots me a small smile and brushes some of her hair behind her ear. Sheepishly, she looks up at me.
"So, what exactly should we do?"
"You've just got to loosen up, Rin," I say, placing my hands on her shoulders and shaking her lightly. "This isn't a big deal, okay? Just have fun with it."
"Stop shaking me," she says with a laugh, pushing me away from her lightly. "You're making me lose my balance."
"Oh yeah?" I say with a devious smile. Immediately I move to take hold of her shoulders again, but she dodges me with ease. I hear camera shutters firing, but I couldn't care less. I move after Rin in quick lunges, listening to her laughter every time she evades me.
"Get back here!" I call. She's on the other side of the set from me now and seems to have little motivation to come in my direction.
"Make me," is Rin's reply. I chuckle and a plan formulates itself in my head. I start stepping towards Rin very slowly, making my movements very deliberate so to telegraph my every step. Rin watches me carefully, curious as to what I'm going to do. When I'm in the middle of the set, she decides it's time to move, and she makes a mad dash for the other side of the set. As she moves, I pivot myself in such a way as to literally sweep her off the ground. Both of us end up in a fit of laughter as I set Rin down, not taking my arms from around her. She leans her forehead up against mine and smiles. A camera fires.
Sangmi tells us to get off the set, and that we did well. I look down at Rin with a smile on my face and am glad to see her expression mirror mine. I turn to look out at the rest of the building and can't help but laugh a little.
From behind the camera, Kim Seokjin is giving me a thumbs-up.

Tales of the Legendary Scholar
They meet in the most unlikely moment and turned their life around. Freidrech newly arrived in his own nation's capital city, which is so foreign to him compared to his village's idyllic and nondiscriminatory atmosphere, after he is forced to come. Now, he is facing a royal prince and tells him to bow. This draws out one of his late father's teachings from the deepest recesses in his mind. "The blood of your great ancestors runs in your veins. Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. "I, Freidrech Goederf Gerboud, son of the late Village Chief Louvel Gerboud of Wrilon, will challenge you, Your Highness, to a battle of riddles… If you win, I will not only bow but be your servant for the rest of my life." This amuses the prince. It is the first he met a boy of the same age who is not intimidated by the air of authority he projects. Rather, this boy challenges him. "Why are you so headstrong? In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. Little did they know, this boy who Prince Theodrech takes in as his confidant and friend in the most ridiculous fashion is someone indispensable in his life and the one who can help him succeed the throne when he almost believes he has lost. Thus, the Tales of the Legendary Scholar begins. ------ o ------ Old Synopsis: A famous ancient adage stated, behind a successful man is a woman BUT… In these lands, the monarchs are seeking not a woman to stand behind them but the man hailed as the Legendary Scholar. However, this legendary figure starts off in life as a youngster of humble birth, a newly orphaned lad named Freidrech, who courageously faces the high-strung aristocrats and big-bellied bureaucrats in the kingdom. He is held in contempt as unscholarly, ignorant, and a plebeian from the hinterlands. But he proved them wrong. Not with an iron-clad fist of which he has none, but with his studious nature, ingeniousness, courage, wit, and honesty. Also, with the assistance of two ousted beings: a former aka 'great wizard', and a burly fairy. Follow Freidrech’s adventures, on how he wins the heart of the future king of Xaeviel, befriends outlaws, prevents the people from being slaughtered from an unknown plague, rerouting the enemies’ attacks when reinforcements are denied, secures Prince Theodrech’s claim to the throne in the midst of utter despair, and many more.

Hugh Johnson and the Seven Evil Alts
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Hugh Johnson was having a bad day. First there was the stupid long line to get into Comiket, then Truck-kun smashed him into paste, a lolii-goddess who punched him into another world, and finally, a wolf that decided to snack on him. And that was just the last 15 minutes. Now he needs to save Eternasy from the Seven Evil Alternate characters he created while playing Endless Fantasy before they destroy the world. Who knew that your actions in a game would have real-world consequences? Join Hugh as he takes on his first Evil Alt and journeys to the Lair of Daemon Wyrm. Hugh Johnson and the Seven Evil Alts will contain tropes familiar to readers of Japanese isekai light novels - a humorous progression fantasy with slice of life scenes, cute girls, burley men, dungeons, magic, and mayhem. Be warned that the MC is not a clueless weeb who has no idea how women or the world works. Expect this to read like hot garbage, and you will not be disappointed. I never expected to toss it into the Writeathon, but I have poor impulse control, so here we are.

Tales of the 33rd universe - A Mech Designer story
Meet Marcus Caelum, since young he wanted nothing else to play with mechs. He studied, worked hard and he finally did it, now he is a Mech Designer (provisional). He achieved his dream and now is the time for realization, he now will learn that not all is great, that there are things to learn and that if he wants to do the job well he better adapt. Cover taken from a Battletech manual. This is my "first" novel so do forgive the quality a bit.It is mostly a Slice of life following what I believe a Mech Designer life would be. It will have action, science, comedy, dark moments and some adventure. It will barely have any romance and little actual combat (he won't go off fighting enemies everywhere, the MC is not a fighter). It's medium sci-fi, most hard science with some mana altering normal materials. The pacing is a bit slow, it takes some time for the story to advance. The first arc is completed and the novel is until further notice on HIATUS.I may continue the Tales of the 47th Universe to try my hand at another style and pacing. More info in chapter 22.

Clement
A man finds himself lost and far away from his home and this is his story. I know the description isn't much to go on but I'm going to leave it like that in hopes that people end up curious enough to give the story a read. Fair warning, this is my first time writing a novel and honestly would love some constructive criticism. leave a comment below the chapters if you find anything that should be corrected or if you have any questions. PS: I'm really into RPGs and the story is going to reflect that obsession.
