monday was a lot more sunnier than expected.
the sun shone brightly in the clear blue sky, blinding passers by with its incredibly powerful rays. it was bitingly cold, but the white wine, bitter strings of light warmed up the concrete streets slightly.
it was hopeful at least.
shawn and anya both decided to take a walk to the hospital they had the gender scan appointment at. it was fairly close to their condos, and they both had been stuck inside for the entire weekend due to pure laziness.
"are you scared? because i'm scared," shawn blurts out, reaching down and brushing his fingertips with anya's.
"i'm not, we find out the gender," she grins, linking their hands together, making shawns heart leap in his chest. "well we won't find out till later tonight but it's okay."
"i just hope the balloon place will be quick," shawn mumbles, making anya chuckle softly, swaying their hands gently. "what?"
"nothing," she sniggers, making shawn smile widely. "you're just so excited, it's adorable."
"why wouldn't i be? we're finding out if we're having a girl!" he says happily, bringing her hand up to his lips, and pressing his cool lips against her warm skin. "if it's a boy, can we return it?"
"shawn!" anya gasps, letting go of his hand and slapping his arm. "you can't say that!"
"i was joking!" he chuckles. "i don't care if we have a boy or a girl, but i want a baby girl," he tells her, as she chuckles, holding onto his hand again.
"we'll see," she says, walking up to the front door of the doctors office, opening it up, shawn following her inside. "i want a boy."
"i thought you wanted a girl?" shawn asks confused, leading her up to the front desk.
"i want a boy now," she lets a small sigh pass her lips, before resting her hand on her little bump. "either way, i'll be happy."
"hi, how may i help you?" the receptionist asks anya, whilst shawn spaces out. he turns his head, looking down at anya with a small smile on his lips, before letting go of her hand, and wrapping his arm around her waist, whilst she talks to the receptionist and fills out different sheets at the table.
"how long have you guys been together for?" the receptionist asks them, making both shawn and anya snap their heads up from their own trances.
"oh we're-"
"three years," shawn grins, cutting anya off. "yeah, she for sure is the one i want to have kids with," he chuckles, making anya's cheeks flush red.

"you both are adorable," she grins back, making shawn and anya smile to themselves. "just take a seat, someone will come and call you in a short while."
"three years?" anya chuckles, sitting down in one of the plush brown seats, holding her hand over her bump, as shawn laughs, sitting next to her.
"three years," he responds. "come on, we might as well have some fun with creating rumours while we can."
"what sort of rumours do you have in your little head?" she asks sarcastically, her other hand falling onto shawns thigh, and holding it there.
"oh, i've got plenty," he grins, holding anya's hand in his, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it softly. "did you see what name was booked on the appointment list?"
"name? what do you mean?" she asks curiously, knowing that shawn booked the appointment, and she only had to fill in her medical history.
"mr and mrs mendes?"

"hey!" anya grins, embracing aaliyah in a long hug, happy to see her after a long while.
"anya!" she squeals. "i can't believe you and my brother are having a child!" she exclaims, making anya chuckle softly.
"honestly, neither can i," she responds. "but i'm glad they've got you as an aunt," anya says, letting go of the hug, seeing aaliyah smile widely. "you guys are happy, right?"
"sweetie, we're all happy," karen says softly, coming into anya's vision, folding a large present, and a bouquet of flowers. "anya, oh my, you look stunning."
"karen, hi," anya says, embracing shawns mother in a hug, as she gets handed the flowers and gift. "i know it's a complete shock but-"
"stop, shawns happy, and i know he's going to support you. as long as you're happy, that's all i can ask for. i just can't wait to meet my grandchild," she says warmly, holding onto anya's arms. "can i touch the bump?"
"of course!" anya says with a small giggle, letting karen place her hands over her little bump.
"we're all happy, i agree," manny says to anya, before she quickly greets him with a hug. "now, i want a grandson."
"tough luck, dad, we want a girl," shawn butts in, surprising anya with a jump. "and i sure do hope it's a girl, because i just ordered a newborn outfit."
"shawn," anya whines, as he laughs, placing his hands on her waist, his hands placed protectively over the bump. "did you say hi to my parents?"

"yeah i did, and your brother, don't worry," shawn says. "i'm a little scared of him."
"don't be, he's just joking," anya says softly to shawn, turning around, and looking straight at him, finally seeing what he looks like.
he's dressed in a fresh white button up, the first few buttons undone, his hair messed up, and his usual chain over his neck, the end of the shit tucked into a pair of black trousers.
"you look beautiful," shawn says to anya, shawns family leaving the new parents alone. "anya, you really are glowing."
her long sleeve, also white, tea style dress was wrapped around her bump, done up in a neat bow, and the skirt ending just past her knees. the dress hugged the curve of her bump perfectly, and the little white wedges she had on complimented her still fairly tanned skin.
"thank you," she says softly, placing a gentle kiss over his cheek. "you don't look too bad yourself."
"so i was thinking," shawn begins. "since this baby is gonna be here quite soon, why don't you move here, into my condo? of course we can have separate rooms, but there's space for a nursery and we can raise them together and-"
"shawn," she grins, cutting him off. "stop rambling, i'd love to move here. after all, i'm always here anyway. half of my wardrobe is in the spare room," shawn laughs softly, placing. his hands over her waist securely, rubbing his hands up and down her sides, and pulling her in slightly closer to him, so her bump is pressed against his torso.
"great, because i also wanted to ask you if you would go on-"
"alright, everyone's here, let's get this started!" camila tells, bringing out the gender cake, pink and blue balloons hanging onto the plate of balloons.
"yeah, shawn?" anya asks him, wanting to know what he was about to ask her.
"let's cut the cake quickly, everyone's crowding around," shawn says. "i'll tell you later, i promise."
"alright," anya agrees, following shawn to the dining table, where the cake is laid out, and where the majority start to crowd around. "i'm so nervous," she whispers softly to shawn, waiting for everyone to make their way to the table.
"me too," shawn whispers back, holding onto anya's hand, squeezing it softly. "i hope it's a girl."
"i hope it's a boy," anya shoots back, making a laugh leave shawns lips.
"oh hunny," shawn grins, seeing all the guests around them. "alright, let's do this!" he says excitedly, making everyone cheer. "anya and i would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone here, we really do appreciate all the support we have in our situation, and it's really heartwarming to see everyone behind us, and supporting us through everything, especially our families who we couldn't thank more."
"this is starting to sound like a wedding speech," aaliyah says, making everyone laugh, and shawn roll his eyes.
"to conclude what shawn was saying, thank you," anya giggles, holding up the knife to cut the cake.
"wait, countdown!" camila yells. "also, pop your poppers when she's cut into the cake and taken out the slice please," camila guides the guests, holding up a black party popper.
"ready?" shawn asks anya gently, holding onto her hand, guiding it to the cream frosting of the cake. anya nods, grinning widely at shawn, before shutting her eyes, and letting the knife sink into the cake. she lets go, letting shawn cut the slice out, and take it out.
the pops of pink flash around them, along with a loud cheer, and the bright pink cake starring up at the two of them. shawns eyes widen almost immediately, and anya feels her breath get stuck at her throat. she doesn't have much time to react, until shawn reaches around her and pulls her into his warm embrace, lifting her up gently, and spinning her around, letting giggles leave her lips.
"we're having a girl!" shawn grins, letting anya gracefully step onto her feet, looking up at shawn with a smile over her lips. "a baby girl!"
"avery penelope here we come," she whispers, making shawns face light up in the chaos, and his hands find themselves to her small bump, holding it safely.
"avery penelope," he replies, looking straight at anya. "oh what the heck," he mumbles, before leaning down and planting his smooth lips onto her pink ones, taking anya by surprise. her eyes flutter shut, and her hands rest over his chest, sinking into his form of affection, and she finds herself kissing back ever so delicately.
"you don't know how long i've been waiting to do that again," he spills, making anya's heart flutter wildly, as the crowd of family and friends look at them with smiles adorned on their faces.
shawn felt himself falling. fast.

Incursions
This blurb concerns Incursions book 1: Incarceration. If you could buy superhuman abilities, but they might kill you—or worse—would you do it? Ten years ago, in a world not so different from our own, people with powerful abilities appeared. The new powers were dangerous, dangerous to acquire—dangerous to have—dangerous to wield. World governments raced to find and eradicate the abilities and those who possess them while using the media to rule by fear. Whereas corporations sought to exploit the abilities for profit. Raz Owens was living the dream - a rising star at a job he enjoys, a girlfriend he loves, but it all comes crashing down when Raz disregards his late father's advice. He is pulled into a chaotic underworld of clandestine labs, shadow organizations, and super-powered criminals. Used as a human test subject in a place where few survive the day, he must last long enough to escape. His only advantage? A power that seems nearly useless—a heads-up display. Contains: monsters, violence, death, dismemberment, gamelit, superpowers, superpower consequences, good guys, bad guys, good guys who might be bad guys, bad guys who think they are good guys, good guys that might go bad, bad guys that might turn good, guns for hire, competence, incompetence, continence, incontinence, conspiracies, and some of what I just said wasn't true. This story is written in third person limited POV. That means you can expect to know many of the thoughts and inner dialog of one character, and only see the actions of other characters. This POV does include scenes without the main character, and thus the reader can and will know things the main character does not. Further, this means characters act on what they know, which is almost always less than the reader knows. Something else to know. These books do not hold your hand. If you're reading it and thinking "Gosh, why aren't 'they' doing some 'obvious' thing." Bad news. You probably missed something that explains exactly that. If you're seeking a light read that doesn't ask much of you as the reader, you're invited and very welcome to come on in, but this might not be the story for you.

Making of a Genius [A Progression LitRPG]
What does it take to climb to the top of the academic ladder? Lexus came face to face with his mediocrity the moment he arrived at Cambridge University to study computer science. There was a ceiling that he could not overcome, an intellectual world that was unreachable. But if you give a chicken an eagle's wings, it will fly higher than you could ever imagine. And that was exactly what happened to Lexus: with the help of a system, he could make it big. Schedule:1 chapter per week (every Friday evening at 5:30pm GMT). The weekly schedule is to allow time for research and factual accuracy where required. Author's Note: The story is about a computer science student at university, gradually improving and embarking on the path to become a world-renowned genius-level expert with the help of a system. There'll be a lot of studying and academics, but imagine being the best in your year. Easily. At that point, academics stops being stressful and starts being fun, doesn't it? The initial chapters are heavy on mathematical detail, but I don't expect anyone to actually read through them thoroughly. It's fine to skim them or even skip them, but I hope you try to get a sense of the progress being made, and feel happy for Lexus when something 'clicks' inside his brain :) As the story progresses, later chapters will go into less depth into individual questions, though I aim to remain consistent in terms of scientific accuracy/feasibility. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the story!
