《Things Left Unspoken (SandersSidesAU)》Chapter Forty-Three

Roman turned to Virgil after Patton left. "Staying here or going back to your room?" Roman asked. Virgil shrugged and jumped on Roman's bed after taking off his coat. "Here, gotcha." Roman climbed on to the bed and sat on the foot. He opened his book and started reviewing when he felt Virgil poke his back with his foot.
Roman sighed and ignored it. Virgil kicked him again and Roman ignored it and went back to his book. He heard Virgil huff and then leave it be for a little bit. Roman heard Virgil type on his phone before it spoke.
"Please talk." Roman rolled his eyes.
"I am reading." Roman said.
"Read to me then." Roman turned to look at Virgil who was sitting up and looked serious.
"Why?" He asked.
"The best way to learn something is to teach it. I don't like silence, and you have homework to do. So read to me." Virgil gave him a look. "Please?"
"What like story time, you know when someone is like five? Do you want to come sit on my lap as I do?" Roman said jokingly. He saw Virgil blink and he panicked because he thought he went over the line. He was proven wrong when Virgil crawled across the bed and placed himself between Roman's legs and leaned back on his chest.
Virgil typed a word and looked up at Roman. "Story time?" Roman almost stopped breathing. Virgil was giving him a look of innocence that he knows Virgil doesn't have. He's friends with Remus for fucks sake. He also didn't have make up on yet so his freckles were still visible and Roman could count them. Virgil's hair was covering his eyes a little while he looked up at Roman. Virgil was cute.
Roman knew he was blushing. He had to be. He couldn't just not be while looking at what he considered an angel in front of him. Roman had to fight the urge to kiss Virgil. He wasn't sure about Virgil's feelings but he loved any interaction he had with him.
Roman numbly nodded and then started to read Virgil his physics work. They didn't need to read the book but Roman had learned from Virgil that looking over the chapter associated with the work was a good idea. Virgil wasn't in physics but was in plant anatomy. Roman read the chapter and tried to distract himself from Virgil looking at the pages as Roman did so.
Reading the chapter took longer than expected because Roman would constantly try and look for a distraction rather than focus on the words he was reading. Virgil could see past that and didn't let him. They were going to be spending most of the day together. Virgil asked if they could do the movie marathon on Sunday as well as today if they bought enough food.
When he needed to move on to the practice problems, Virgil didn't move from his spot and Roman just worked with it. The minute Roman stopped talking when he wasn't doing something on his calculator, Virgil would nudge him until he did.
He ended up talking through each part of the problem several times, and by the end of it he was writing down answers faster than he expected. Maybe Virgil was on to something. Roman flipped the sheet over and almost groaned at the fact there was another page left.
Virgil smiled and was about to type something when his phone went off. Roman didn't look at the phone until Virgil nudged him and pointed down. Remus was here.

"You better go get him." Roman said. Virgil nodded and grabbed his coat and keys.
"You better be dressed when you come over." Virgil typed out. Roman nodded.
"I will. Go get my brother and text me when you guys are at your dorm." Virgil nodded and grabbed his coat. Roman waited until he was gone to get dressed. He quickly showered and got dressed. He knew that they were just going to the store and he was going to have to act a certain way.
It was all part of the plan. He grabbed his winter coat and his keys, Micheal wasn't going to be back until later and he knew that Roman wasn't coming back anytime soon.
He did just spend most of the day talking Virgil through physics. Patton had shown up around noon with Virgil. Logan had woken them all up early so they could walk through his plan. Virgil was going to help Patton even though they all were convinced that he didn't need it. Logan figured he would like a friend. Roman did not point out that they were cousins, he figured that would put Logan in a sour mood when he was already highly stressed out.
Roman put his headphones on and listened to the playlist for homework that he listened to with Virgil. Or really when they hung out and needed to do thier own thing. He thought back to a lot of what he and Virgil do.
They do hang out a lot, they were partners in History. Virgil would sit next to him at every meal they had and wouldn't let anyone else take the seat. They got their meals together. When they were hanging out with the group they had going, Virgil would sit on his lap or behind him. Roman wasn't complaining. He enjoyed it, mainly because he doesn't have that kind of friendship with anyone else. When they stayed the night at each other's dorms, they slept in the same bed and cuddled.
Virgil also fixed his tie whenever it was not tied right or neat because a messy tie ticked Virgil off. Roman loved when Virgil would notice and then fix it. His face scrunched up and he focused. If Roman needed to pick me up during the day, he would purposely mess it up and Virgil would fuss over it all while shaking his head and then asking him how it got that messed up in the time that Roman was just sitting in class.
Hell, they had plans together. Micheal had a point that he and Virgil were practically a couple, but he didn't want to lose it if Virgil wasn't comfortable. Roman was worried that once Virgil knew that Roman liked him he would feel obligated to break the rule he set for himself.
Roman wasn't going to put him in that position. He waited over near Virgil's floor. The common room was empty so Roman sat there and listened to the music. He got a text from Virgil and he waited another three songs before he walked over and opened the door.
"Virgil, you know I love these outings we do but why did you have to-oh hi Remus." Roman said as he walked in.
"Outings?" Remus asked with a smile.
"We are running errands for his uncle." Roman checked the time on his phone. "Which reminds me, I got this." Roman handed Virgil a piece of fabric.
Virgil nodded and then inspected it. Remus was confused but didn't ask. Virgil gave him a thumbs up and then put it on the bed. Remus was having fun watching them.

"It works?" Virgil nodded and rolled his eyes.
Roman and Virgil watched as Janus drove off with Remus. Roman shifted uncomfortably.
"Why do I feel like I just made a deal with the mob for my brother?" Roman asked. Virgil shrugged.
" In the short time thatI have known him, he wouldn't mind that." Roman nodded at that, because Virgil was not wrong. We have to get the keys from my uncle."
"Do I need to do the talking?" Roman asked.
Virgil shrugged. Roman assumed they would decide when they got there. Virgil didn't knock, he walked right into his uncle's apartment. It still shocked Roman that Virgil would do that.
He did live here year round so he figured that had something to do with it. "Patton?" Thomas yelled. Virgil nudged Roman.
"Oh, um no Headmaster. It's Roman and Virgil." Roman responded. Thomas came out of the kitchen wiping his hands.
"Oh, picking up?" Thomas asked. Virgil signed something and Thomas shook his head. "Nothing, just making something." Virgil's eyes widened and ran off to the kitchen.
"Where is he going?" Roman asked. Thomas shrugged.
"Probably making sure the kitchen isn't burning down. He might yell at me." Thomas said.
Virgil came out of the kitchen looking upset. "I think he's trying to get your attention." Roman said. Thomas nodded and walked over to his nephew. He held up his phone and Thomas shook his head.
"Nothing, I ran out of the premade meals Patton made for this week." Thomas responded.
"You eat with the rest of us." Virgil responded. Thomas nodded.
"But midnight snacks..." Thomas whined. Roman smiled as he watched Virgil run around the kitchen trying to keep things under control and fought with his uncle. Every now and then he would sign something that Roman recognized a little but it seemed that Thomas didn't know sign language that well so he didn't feel too bad about not knowing. Could he learn?
Of course, but he felt that was Remus' area and he didn't want to seem like he was trying to one up his brother. Remus needed to have things of his own as Roman did. For a long time, that was knowing sign language. That was how Remus communicated with the person who taught him how to spray paint. Roman also know that it was used for telling people what he needed when he was overwhelmed and shut down. Roman could learn, but that was not something he was going to do until he spoke with Remus about it. It was stupid but he was polite to a fault thanks to how he was raised.
Roman let his thoughts fly while they finished up. He tried to figure out what he could do to make communication with Virgil easier. If he just knew sign language, they wouldn't have to waste so much paper. His guilt about forcing Virgil to write so often and stepping on Remus' toes was about equal. But Remus did like Virgil, and treated him like family.
Roman smiled as he formed a plan for the summer, he would need to talk to Remus of course and he was sure that Remus wouldn't mind. Virgil looked over and saw him smiling and rolled his eyes. Thomas gave them the keys and they planned to meet up a little later by the door Virgil brought Remus through.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
When he got back to his room he looked around his room. It was set up for two friends and that was it.
Yup, friends.
That's it. Nothing. Else.
Virgil was free to rearrange his room however he wanted and he was going to do that. The tv was big enough that it was a good picture but it didn't take up a lot of the wall.
If they were going to have a movie night, they needed a comfortable place to sleep and watch the movies. He thought about pulling out the couch and making that a two person bed, Virgil frowned.
That wasn't good enough.
He glanced over at the bed against the wall. If he moved it to the middle of the floor that could fall off either side. But he could use that to his advantage. He pulled the couch out and took the many pillows from the end of his bed and decorated the couch to be a comfortable place to sit and lay down. It had places for both of them to sleep.
He then cleared out what was under his bed so he could drag it over to the couch. He had done this many times during the summers and was good at moving things around. He had a small space and worked with it well. After a few minutes of dragging the bed and taking breaks, he got the bed over to the couch. He unscrewed the screws holding the bed frame in place and pushed them all to the top most setting. From there he put a sheet over the back of the bed so it made a theater like area.
He got a few of his fairy lights and hung them on the bed just for decoration. He wasn't sure why he was doing so much, it was just Roman.
Maybe that's why he was. It was Roman, the guy he had a small crush on. Could he really say it was a small crush now? He rearranged his room for him. Not to mention Roman's parents loved him, he figured it had to do with the fact that he was pretty quiet and his friends from home were kinda sketchy.
Virgil picked up on it, Matt seemed like a nice person but he felt there was more to his story than what Roman had let him to believe but he wasn't going to focus on it now. Pranks was a different beast completely.
Maybe he set it up so he could have something to do for the few hours he was alone. He texted Roman to bring his blanket and a stuffed animal. Roman didn't exactly question it, but Virgil knew he was curious.
Roman stopped by the dorm before they left but Virgil didn't let him in so he could keep the surprise of the bed set.
"I have my computer so we can hook it up to the tv, can I put it-" Roman asked and Vrigil shook his head. Virgil had his wallet and keys in his pocket. He had thrown on a pair of jeans after moving everything. He was just going to be in his pajamas when they came back.
Virgil put the bag by the door of the dark dorm. Roman was confused, but made sure he had everything. Virgil locked the door and hoped he remembered to set the timer on the lights. He focused for a minute and saw that he had, he and Roman then left to get in the car.
Logan and Patton were on their way out after them so they needed to get in the garage quick. Both Virgil and Roman didn't want to waste time talking while they were getting ready for a date. Virgil also knew that Patton had made reservations. Vrigil unlocked the door to the garage and Roman went inside. Virgil flipped the light switch so it wouldn't be in total darkness.
Virgil walked over to the silver car that was owned by Thomas. Roman however had seen a covered motorcycle in the corner. "Hey, what's that?" Roman asked Virgil, who followed his line of sight to see his bike.
"A bike?" Virgil responded.
Roman nodded. "I didn't know Thomas rode those." He commented while getting in the car. Virgil laughed.
"That's not Thomas' bike" Virgil typed out while he got into the driver's seat. Roman looked at him surprised.
"Does Thomas have a significant other?" Roman asked. Virgil shook his head.
"He did, but as far as I know they broke up and Thomas kept Patton." Roman nodded.
"They adopted a kid together and didn't get married." Roman mumbled.
"They were going to before they got Patton. Thomas adopted Patton from a friend who needed it, I think. They still have contact but as far as Patton is concerned, Thomas is his dad." Virgil explained.
"So Patton rides?" Roman asked. Virgil laughed.
"Patton riding a motorcycle, that's a good one." Virgil typed. He started the car and opened the garage. He flipped the headlights on so he could see.
"So, who's it?" Roman asked. Virgil shook his head. Roman was dense as hell wasn't he. Roman pleaded with him to tell who owned the bike. Virgil's phone rang and Virgil handed it to Roman.
"Isn't it a little rude to call someone who can't speak?" Roman asked after putting the phone on speaker and Virgil just smiled and chuckled silently.
By the time they had gotten to Target because that's where Roman said he wanted to go first, Virgil had requested that they hold off on getting ice cream until they got to the last store and Roman agreed. He still hadn't let go of the fact that Virgil wouldn't tell him who the bike belonged to. The fact that Roman completely grazed over the fact that Virgil could be the one with the bike made him laugh.
The bike was obviously used before the fall, Virgil kept the bike clean. During the spring he would go on rides to calm down his anxiety over finals. It was another privilege of being the nephew of the Headmaster, he could take midnight rides if he needed to, he just had to sneak off and not get on the bike until he was outside the back gate.
But that wasn't important right now. Roman had suddenly got very quiet and that wasn't something Virgil liked. Sure there was noise but that meant that Roman was planning and Roman planning never went well. Roman then grabbed his arm.
"Vi, do you see what I do?" He asked. Virgil shook his head and looked around with Roman. He saw adult pajamas and onesies but other than that he didn't see anything. Then it hit Virgil, he shook his head.
"Please, please, please? It would be fun!" Roman said.
"Fine, nothing pink though." Virgil typed out and let Roman drag him over to the onesies along with their bucket of snacks. Roman looked through the onesies for Virgil when Virgil saw one that fit Roman to a T. He pulled it out and smiled.
Roman didn't realize Virgil had wandered to the other side of the rack, so he panicked when he couldn't find him. "Virgil?" He yelled. Virgil popped his head around the side of the rack. "There you are. What are you doing?" Roman asked. Virgil smiled at him that unsettled Roman a little because there was mischief behind the smile.
Virgil handed Roman the onesie. "Really?" Virgil nodded.
Princey. Virgil signed. Roman rolled his eyes.
"Fine, is that the Disney section? Maybe something over there might be on for you." Roman looked through the onesies and pulled out one and looked to Virgil. He shook his head. "Come on! It's the Cheshire Cat! From Alice In Wonderland!" Roman defended.
"No, I like Tim Burton's better anyway." Virgil responded.
"It's cute." Roman said.
"It's pink."
"No magenta." Virgil rolled his eyes. Roman gave up and then kept looking. Roman saw one that he knew Virgil would like. "What about this?" Roman pulled out a galaxy onesie that had purple and navy swirled around it. There were also a few planets around it. Virgil looked at it and then shook his head.
"Why not?" Roman asked. "You picked one out for me."
"I am picky." Virgil responded.
"I can tell." Roman said. He saw a teddy bear one and then smiled. "You are getting this one." Virgil looked at it and made a face. "None of that, it's fluffy, soft, and warm. You won't even need me tonight. Also it'd look cute."
Virgil blushed and allowed Roman to get the onesie for him. He caught the comment about it being cute, and he fixated on it. Roman was going to be the death of him he was convinced.
The amount of people who assumed they were a couple while they drove around picking up snacks was more than Virgil would've liked. That didn't stop Roman from holding his hand as they walked through the aisles looking for snacks. Roman insisted they get chocolate for the atheistic and Virgil followed along with it. This was Roman's part of the evening and even though he tried every time to help pay, he still felt guilty. Maybe that's why Roman wouldn't let go of his hand.
Virgil sighed and grabbed a pint of ice cream for them to share. Roman had already got drinks for them and Virgil had plates and cups. They paid and left the store.
"Will you tell me who's bike it is now?" Roman asked. Virgil shook his head. Roman had been trying to figure it out but hadn't gotten close. "Why not?" Roman asked.
Before he started the car, he made a seesaw motion with his hands. Roman pouted and Virgil turned on his music. Sincerely Me played through the speakers and Virgil moved slightly as he drove to the beat. By the end of the song Roman was singing and smiling.
Virgil smiled, he wished he could sing with Roman. Roman had a really good voice and Virgil's was fairly good before he stopped talking. Would it still uphold? It might but he wasn't going to push it right now. He could barely talk as is. They pulled back into the garage.

8 179Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
