《Things Left Unspoken (SandersSidesAU)》Chapter Thirty-Eight

Logan was sitting after Virgil dropped the new nickname and left, just reading. He was on his computer looking at different flowers. Patton deserved the best kind too. He was going to find good ones and then have Virgil get them for him, he found Roman's on short notice surely he can find Logan some.
Logan sat and was just wondering what he was going to do. Valentine's Day was coming up and he wanted to make it special. Patton was working hard over the last few weeks and Logan didn't know why. He wouldn't tell him.
Neither would Virgil, Logan wasn't even sure Virgil knew. But he waited for Patton to come back from the library, and while he did he planned. He made sure his time was split between his classes and extracurriculars. He didn't do much but he was in the astronomy club but that was once a week and wasn't as demanding as drama was for his friends. Not to mention, Virgil had all but required him to go to Roman's roommate's game night.
He did enjoy going with Patton and Virgil but it was always a bit too loud for him. But he was a quiet guy who came from a quiet household so he was a little too used to the quiet. He was glad he had Patton to balance it out.
Logan looked up from his computer to check something on his calendar when he spotted Patton's plant sil. They were thriving and Patton was going to have to re-pot a few of them soon. When Virgil started hanging out with Roman more, Patton wanted to get a plant that represented him but Virgil wouldn't let him.
Logan wasn't going to buy him a Roman plant but he was going to buy him a plant that he could take care of. He also looked at Patton's essential oil drawer when he got that idea and made note of each one he needed a refill on soon. He would take Virgil into town on Saturday to help him with it. Well Virgil would have to drive into town, it was his car.
Patton had a white one and Virgil had a motorbike, but he borrowed Patton's car every once and a while. Logan texted Virgil to tell him to ask Patton for the car but wouldn't say why. He was settled back in his chair looking at different kinds of potted flowers when Patton came flying in.
"LOGAN!" He yelled. Logan jumped a little and closed his laptop.
"Patton, I am right here no need to yell, dear." Logan said while getting up to meet his boyfriend at the door. He grabbed a water bottle on his way over. Patton shrugged off his bag and handed it to Logan who gave him a kiss and replaced the bag with the water.
"Sorry, but I bring news!" Patton said quieter but with just as much enthusiasm. Logan chuckled as he put Patton's bag on a hook.
This was their routine. Patton would come back to the dorm and Logan would organize his bag and belongings he had for the day while Patton told him about his day. This had started when Patton stayed with Logan when Virgil was away. Patton would throw himself into anything to distract himself and hopefully keep busy. So he didn't get around to cleaning and staying organized. Logan didn't mind it, at first he was helping a friend's family member, now it was his boyfriend. He would punch another cop for Patton.
Logan unpacked his for him. "What is it?" Logan asked. Patton frowned. Logan always unpacked his bag but Patton had started to feel guilty despite the conversation multiple times they had about Logan not really caring.

"First, you don't have to do that. Second, it's about Janus." Patton told him. Logan sighed.
"I don't mind but if you would prefer to do it yourself I will let you." Logan said, stepping away from the bag.
"I can't organize at all but I can do the small things. I don't want you overworking. You were doing homework before I came in." Patton reasoned while pulling Logan over to the couch. Logan couldn't argue, he was doing his homework, just not any homework for school.
"I was just finishing up anyway, nothing I can't continue later or tomorrow." Logan leaned back against the couch.
Patton just shrugged and put his legs on Logan's lap. "Anyway, back to Janus. So I heard from another student helper at the library that Roman and Janus were talking today in a corner. And do you know what they were talking about?" He asked excitedly.
"Virgil?" Logan guessed. It was a good guess, they would discuss Virgil. He was the one thing they agreed about.
"No, apparently Roman has a brother. And Janus asked if he could ask him out!" Patton said. Logan always listened to Patton, he had a lot of people he talked to and he knew a lot about everyone. Trying to find something Patton doesn't know about someone at the school was like seeing Logan without a tie in public.
It was near impossible.
"Huh, does anyone know what he said?" Logan asked. He would always indulge in Patton's need to spill everything. Before Logan was close to him or Virgil, Patton would do it to Virgil and Virgil would also find things out. People talk around a selective mute, why would they be worried about a guy who couldn't talk?
That's what made Virgil a bit dangerous in certain situations. He knows a lot of things that people have said around him. He's smart and knows that he can't use it for gain, but he does know the people who needed to know about it.
"I heard a few things, one person said that he got angry and told Janus to fuck off." Logan looked over at Patton surprised.
Patton gave him a look. "What? I know how to swear, I live with Virgil, Logan. Another person said that Roman said no and walked out. But Virgil said he needed time to think, and then I saw them walking towards Janus' place. So I followed them."
"Patton, that's not how you find things out." Logan said.
"Listen though, they got to the place and then and then they went for a walk. So I trailed them. I am not as good as either of them but I am sure that Virgil was too focused on Roman. Anyway, he told Janus he could ask his brother out and-"
"Wait, Janus asked permission? Why?" Logan asked.
"My guess Roman is very protective of his brother and Janus knew that so he asked to be nice. But that's not the kicker." Patton said.
"Then what is it?"
"Virgil went to use the bathroom and Janus asked Roman if they wanted to join them. Janus basically all but confirmed they were dating! Roman and Virgil! Can you believe it? I was so excited, I ran back here after Janus asked and didn't hear Roman's answer."
"You didn't wait until the conversation was over?" Logan asked.
"No, I didn't want them to see me." Patton said.
"I don't think they are Patton, wouldn't Virgil tell you first?" Logan asked.

Suddenly, their door was opened and Virgil walked in looking like he was about to pass out. "So, change of plans Logan. I am going to hide out here, cool?" Virgil said.
He really didn't know that simple question would send Virgil into a panic. He felt horrible but Roman wasn't angry with him. Roman, like himself, was concerned about where Virgil went. He really meant it as a joke, he didn't think that Virgil would be upset.
The two had another hour until dinner so they could find him before or wait until then. Both of them agreed that it would ease their anxiety if they looked for him and found him.
"I am so sorry. I really didn't think he would react that way, I should've thought it through." Janus said as they looked in the art room. Roman shrugged.
"It's fine, I am not the one who you need to apologize to or even talk about it to. Let's just find him, okay?" Roman said.
Janus sighed. He needed to keep his composure. He would find Virgil with Roman and then get talked to by Virgil. He hoped he didn't tell Patton or Logan yet. "He's not here." Janus said.
"How'd you know?" Roman asked. Janus shrugged.
"He would've tensed and hit something the second he heard our voices. We would've heard him. Also his imprint isn't here." Janus said. He had allowed the planes to bleed together in his vision so he could tell where people went. All magic users had an imprint, it was just a colored version of their residual energy.
"Imprint?" Roman asked.
"His magical signature. For example, that angelite bracelet is doused in his imprint." Janus said while walking out. Where would Virgil go? He knew there were multiple places he could go, he always had this system that he went through.
"Huh. Is it possible that he went through the tunnels?" Roman asked.
"Tunnels?" Janus asked. Roman shrugged.
"Virgil knew of tunnels in the school, I don't know where they are or what they are but it's quite possible he used them to get places." Roman said. Janus sighed. That explained things.
Sometimes when he was tired he didn't want to keep both planes separate he would see Virgil's imprint disappear into walls and reappear from walls. He figured Virgil knew of cloaking magic but he was always confused when Janus brought it up to him. Like he just knew the basics, not how to do it.
"That means he could be literally anywhere in this place." Janus said.
"Let's go see his uncle, he might have gone there." Roman suggested.
"It's worth a shot, I think that his uncle might still be in his office but we can go ask." Janus and Roman make their way to the apartment where Thomas lived. Roman knocked on the door.
They waited but got no answer. "He's probably at his office. Where else would Virgil go? Would he visit Thomas in his office?" Roman asked.
"What?" Janus asked, confused. Roman seemed to realize his mistake.
"Sorry, I am used to only seeing the Headmaster in informal settings and after months of doing drama where we call him Thomas, it's a habit." Roman said. Janus nodded but thought about what he said.
"I don't think Virgil would bother his uncle in his office no matter the size of the emergency. I do have an idea where he might go, but he hasn't told you why he goes to the office two times a week. So you can wait at the lobby while I talk to one of the people who works there." Janus said. "If he's still working."
The two basically ran past Virgil's and his friend's dorm. Janus always thought of Virgil as his friend, but the other two not so much. Logan was okay and was always studying, Patton was just a bit loud for his liking, but had a big heart which Janus could respect, the fact he was able to keep his optimism through everything was admirable to Janus.
If they didn't find Virgil at Picani's office, he would teach Roman how to find and locate someone based on aura and imprint. With Virgil's imprint all over that bracelet, it would be easy. So they would have a plan B.
They got to the office and Roman sat down in a chair in the lobby. Janus waved to the secretary, she waved back and nodded towards Picani's door. Janus knocked on it and Picani answered. He had gotten into the habit of answering the door rather than just saying come in.
"Janus, what a surprise. I don't see you until later this week. Can I help you?" He asked.
Janus nodded. "Have you seen Virgil? Me and Roman can't find him."
Picani shook his head. "Sorry, I haven't. If I do see him before I leave, I'll let him know you are looking for him. Any reason why?" He asked.
"I asked if he and Roman could come to dinner with Roman's brother and me. Just to ease my nerves. It wasn't supposed to be a double date of any kind, they would have their own table and we have our own. Now that I think of it, it sounds like I was trying to set him and Roman up." Janus said. Picani chuckled.
"I mean, they would be good together. But I am sure he just needs time." Picani said.
"But why would he run away like that?" Janus asked. "He hasn't done that in so long, so why now?"
"It's a response, a defense if you will. It's his way of getting out of a situation where he saw no way out without saying anything to hurt one of your feelings. He needs to clear his head, or just take a breather. It's commonly called the fight or flight response, which I am sure you are familiar with. Someone with Virgil's level of anxiety, his fight or flight will work overdrive not matter the situation. Especially something new such as a date. You'll find him though , maybe wait until dinner to be worried. He always comes back when he hides." Picani told thim.
"And if he doesn't go to dinner?" Janus asked.
"Find the Headmaster. Mr. Sanders is not only responsible for all students, but he is Virgil's legal guardian." Janus nodded.
"So?" Roman asked as they left the office. Janus shook his head.
"We need to find him before dinner."
"Why?" Roman asked. Janus started walking towards an empty classroom, Roman followed close behind.
"I don't know if he's with people who know he needs to go eat. He just doesn't sometimes and with the look on his face when he went off today, I don't think he will be in the state of mind to remind himself to eat." Janus said. "I am going to teach you something."
"You are?" Roman asked. Janus nodded. He made sure that the door was locked. Janus closed his eyes and felt where the security camera was and snapped.
Roman saw a flash of yellow sparks over by the camera and yelped. Janus revised an eyebrow. "I am teaching you how to identify imprints."
"Really?" Roman was excited.
"Yes, take off the bracelet Virgil gave you." Roman did. Janus put it in the middle of them. He knew how to do this in concept only, sometimes you can not do what is needed. If that happens and you are being tested, you attempt again and you are not penalized for it. Janus like that but he was never good at tracking magic. Roman however, could be good at it or at least he could preform it.
Roman was sitting at a desk and Janus was standing in front of it. "Have you ever connected to the energy fields?"
"I have no idea what that is." Janus blew air out. OF closure he didn't.
"Mediated?"
"Yes."
"Alright, I am going to ask you to meditate for a few seconds and then open your eyes while in meditation. This should open the energy plane to you. It looks different to everyone." Janus said.
"What does it look like to you?" Roman asked.
"Different kinds of Witches have different talents. How you know where you are going is how the energy plane looks to you. The plane for me is very rigid and looks like stone." Janus said. He pointed to himself. "Crystal witch."
"Why do you call it witches while others call it Wiccans?" Roman asked.
"I like the name better than Wiccans, the true name that I would like to use is Paganism but we do not have the time for this. Now, meditate. I am going to pull you through the plane so you know how it feels then take you out. That way you can get in by yourself." Janus said. "All you have to do is focus on how it feels to you."
Roman nodded and closed his eyes. Janus was well practiced so he didn't have to focus as hard to cut into the energy plane. He waited until Roman's hands were glowing red, he then shook his own that pulsed a yellow color. He put his hands on Roman wrists, took a deep breath and felt everything burst out in the room. He heard Roman gasp. Janus opened his eyes and saw Roman looking around.
After a minute, he closed it down. Roman was smiling."That was beautiful! So many colors!" He said.
Creative one, Roman is. So would that make him a tarot witch like Virgil? Virgil wasn't really one who stayed on one level. He was still in the air, no one but Virgil knew what witch he was. Janus suspected not even Virgil knew what kind of witch Virgil was.
"Yes, well it's interesting. So now that you've seen it, you are going to focus on the fact of the colors that you saw. Focus on the beauty you saw, the vibrancy even. You are going to keep that in mind and when you are ready, let it go and the doorway should open. It might be difficult, but use detail. You can't go wrong with visualization and having too much detail. More detail, easier transition into the plane. For some people at least. When you are there, look at the bracelet. Virgil's imprint is a lavender lightning bolt mist. Kinda like how a cloud would look during a thunderstorm." Janus told him. Roman nodded.
It took a few tries but Janus felt the energy field open. Roman opened his eyes and they were mixed with a scarlet red and a pale pink color. Janus watched as he looked down, Roman then smiled.
"It's so pretty." Roman whispered.
"Huh?" Janus asked.
"The color, it's like the color of the roses he gave me but kinda deeper. Also it keeps changing colors. Dark purple and lavender mixing together." Janus raised an eyebrow. Roman was really getting into this.
"Interesting." Janus said.
"So, what's next?" Roman asked.
"Keep that image in your mind and put the bracelet back on and then repeat after me. This particular one is in Latin because I feel it works better that way but some will keep it in their native language. Or some will silently speak a spell and put all their focus on intention. Thats what magic is about." Roman nodded and did what he was told. "Ready?"
"Ready." Roman responded.
"Lucretius manere per me" Janus started
"Lucretius manere per me."Janus was impressed by the pronunciation of his words. Maybe Roman knew a Latin based language other than English.
"Usque ad unum quaero,"
"Usque ad unum quaero?"
"Good, almost done. Inventus est, et revelata."
Roman nodded. "Inventus est, et revelata."
"Now open your eyes." Roman did and gasped.
"There's a trail."
"And let me guess, it's purple or lavender." Roman nodded. "Let's get going, Virgil isn't going to stay in one place for long." Janus and Roman took off, Roman leading the way because he was the only one who could see the trail. Janus had made sure to put the camera back into place before they left.
As they ran, they came across a familiar hallway. Virgil was at Logan and Patton's. Of course he would go there, it was the most obvious place he would be. Roman knocked on the door.
