"Oh uh yeah, I'll be right there." Logan hung up his class phone and looked at the kids. "Uhm behave I'll be right back." He left the room after telling another teacher to watch them. He walked to the office and froze when he saw the officers standing talking to Roman and Patton. He ran into the office.
"Oh god what happened!" He cried.
"Logan Sanders?" The officer asked. Logan nodded. "We need to speak with you about your parents." Logan looked at Patton and Roman.
"They were arrested a year ago they haven't escaped have they?" Logan asked.
"They were murdered." The officer said. Logan's eyes widened.
"W-What?" He looked out the door of the office and then back at Patton who nodded and let them go into the conference room to talk. They sat down and Logan just shook his head.
"They were locked up did another prisoner do this?" Logan asked.
"Unfortunately we don't think so." The officer sighed. "We know it's hard to hear the news even after all they've done but we need information, any ideas as to who might have wanted them dead other than you and your...partner?" Logan raised an eyebrow and shook his head laughing a bit.
"Are you guys seriously pointing your fingers at Remus right now? Just so you understand me right now, Remus is no murderer and I do not know anyone who didn't want them alive, they were murdered because they deserved everything that was coming to them. No, I do not care that they are dead but if you don't catch the person who did so then I'm afraid they might be after my family and I will not let this happen so you investigate and stop pointing fingers." Logan stood up.

"But sir-."
"No! I will not sit here and let you blame an innocent man for this! I wanted them dead too! For so many fucking years! I'm their son and you aren't even blaming me for it but instead blaming my boyfriend who has absolutely nothing to do with them! I am not saying I did this because I am no murderer but, I see you just like pointing fingers are innocent people and making false arrest and I will not have this happen to my boyfriend." Logan stomped out of the office.
"Logan?" Logan looked up at Janus who was walking to his classroom with his arms full of papers.
"Hey Janus, how's your classes going?" Logan asked. Janus looked back into the office and saw the officers.
"Everything okay?" Janus looked back at Logan.
"My parents..." Logan sighed. "Just go back to your classes, I'll discuss this later with everyone because right now I can't even think straight."
"That's because you aren't." Janus laughed. Janus smiled. "Just don't stress too much okay?" Logan nodded.
"I'll try my best." Janus walked back to his classroom. Logan laughed and walked to his.
"You were gone awhile, everything okay?" Logan nodded.
"Thanks for taking care of things." Logan sat down at his desk and frowned. Why would anyone go as far as murdering prisoners? How stupid are they? Logan pulled out his phone and texted Remus.
💙
Logan sighed after hitting send and sent a quick message to Virgil.
💙
He immediately got a reply from Virgil.

Logan sighed. That was a bad idea.

Logan shut off his phone and started to cry as the last bell rang for the end of the day. Why couldn't he just protect the people he loves without anything bad like this happening? After about twenty minutes, he packed up his things and started walking to his car.

"Mr. Sanders!" Logan looked up and smiled.
"Oh hello Mark." Logan's coworker smirked.
"I was thinking you could maybe come with me, we can have some pizza and stuff?" Logan sighed.
"Mark, you know I'm in a relationship and quite frankly I do not like you like that so please allow me to leave." He didn't even notice until just then that Mark had gotten between himself and his car.
"I dont think I want to." Mark smiled and grabbed Logan's wrist. Logan winced and tried to pull away.
"Mark...let go." Logan was starting to shake.
"Actually Logan, I was sent by a friend of your family's...it's been awhile and I think we need to catch up." Logan shook as he struggled to get out of the grip.
"Let. Go." Logan panicked. Mark laughed.
"Oh shit I forgot about your PTSD." He shoved Logan against his car and held his wrist above his head. Logan slammed his eyes shut. "I can use this to my advantage."
"J-Just let me go Mark." Logan whimpered. Logan opened his eyes and Mark just laughed.
"Not a chance." Logan heard screaming and looked towards it only to be forced to look away by Mark grabbing his face. "Come on now." He yanked Logan away from his car and dragged him through the parking lot, avoiding cameras. Logan looked over towards his car then back at Mark. He wasn't that far he needs to make a break for it...Logan lashed out and Mark fell to the ground. Logan immediately called the police and got into his car as tears flowed down his face. Friend of his family's? Were they the ones who killed his parents? Logan immediately hung up with the police after telling them what happened and he called Remus.
"Lo you sound distressed what's wrong?" He asked. Logan shook.
"I-I was..." the door to his car was yanked open and Logan screamed as his phone was taken from his hand.
"Goodbye Remus." Mark hung up the phone and Logan panicked.
"T-The police are coming!" Logan cried. Mark laughed.
"I know that." A car suddenly pulled up besides them and Mark lashed out. Logan fell to the ground and he cried even more. His glasses were thrown off his face. "Which is why you are coming with us Logan, and you aren't going to be easy to find." Logans vision became blurry and he felt his eyes close. The last thing he saw was Mark above him. Oh god not again.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
