"W-what exactly do you want Remus?" Patton asked as he was dragged into the kitchen. Remus started making food and he turned to look back at Patton.
"Can't we just talk like we used to Patton?" He asked. Patton folded his arms across his chest.
"You kidnapped me, two of my best friends, and two KIDS Remus. Fucking teenage kids! And you think we can sit here and fucking chat! Have you lost your god damn mind!" Patton shouted.
"Oh Patton, was that swearing really necessary? You've changed." Remus went and cut up some carrots.
"I've changed? I'm the one who's changed!? YOU KIDNAPPED US AND LOCKED US IN A ROOM REMUS!" remus dropped the knife and shoved Patton against the wall. Patton squealed in shock.
"Oh come on Patton, lighten up." Remus pulled away and smirked. "You swore. You never swear, especially after what your dad said to you. I remember..." Patton glared.
"Don't bring him into this." Patton looked away.
"Oh don't look away from me Patton." Remus walked over and lifted Pattons face towards his. "I'm sure your dad would be sooooo happy to see you and Roman sucking face, you being best friends with the kid you swore you'd never see again. You remember that don't you? Why they sent me away after making up all those harsh things about me? Your dad was the reason they sent me away after all Patton...and you did absolutely nothing about it." Remus held Patton's face. "Aren't you just the most adorable thing... I wonder..." Remus leaned forward and forced his lips onto Patton's. Patton squealed. Remus pulled away and laughed, allowing Patton to fall to the ground in shock. Patton glared up at him.
"WHAT THE HELL!" he shouted.
"Logan's a better kisser than you, I honestly don't see what Roman likes about you Patton." Remus shook his head. "You are honestly so predictable." Remus shoved Patton down on the ground and took the knife from Patton.
"I-."
"I take you out here to have a nice chat, and you what? Try and kill me! Come on Patton you should know better than that!" Remus forced Patton to his feet. "It's time for you to think about what you've done." He dragged Patton towards his room and Patton's eyes went wide.

"What the hell are you doing!" Patton struggled. Remus pouted.
"This closet isn't cramped enough..." Remus dragged Patton through the house until he found a closet in the hall. "Now, you will be locked in here until you apologize for what you just tried to do." He threw Patton to the ground. The tiny closet was like a crawl space so Patton had to sit down instead of stand. Patton started to freak out.
"Remus please you can't!" Patton tried to move but Remus threw him back down.
"Are you willing to apologize to me for trying to stab me?" He asked. Patton shook his head.
"Y-You hurt my friends!" Patton cried. He knelt down so he was face to face with Patton.
"Am I not one of your friends?" He asked. Patton shook his head.
"No. You aren't." Remus stood up and slammed the closet door shut. He locked it and Patton banged his fist against the door. "Stop it! Remus please let me out!" He started crying harder than before and he leaned back against the wall behind him. His father didn't trust Remus back then, he should have known it was going to get bad because he befriended him. He should have listened to his dad. "I'm so sorry dad..."
A few years ago
"I don't want you hanging around him, he's a bad influence on you Patton! Your swearing!" Patton's dad frowned. Patton pouted.
"I'm a teenager! You can't tell me who I can and can't be friends with dad!" Patton stormed from the room.
"Patton I swear, if I ever catch you swearing again I will punish you and make sure you NEVER get to see that boy again you hear!" Patton slammed his door shut. Whatever. He would never go through with it.
***the next day***
"Patton no." Remus laughed. "You have to say it in a full sentence. You know like...fuck the principle?" Patton shook his head.
"But my dads not that bad...he just-."
"Doesn't like me? I get that. A lot of people don't. Even my own brother doesn't want to associate with me." Remus laughed as he flicked out the cigarette.

"Ouch that's a little harsh." Patton grabbed the water bottle. "How about...fuck everything. Fuck what my dad said, fuck that. I'm going to be your friend forever." Patton smiled as he took a swig of the bottle. He gagged.
"Uh...you just took a drink of my bottle Patton. Please for the love of all that is holy tell me you aren't a lightweight..."
"Wait...shit! I have a meeting with my dad after this are you telling me this is alcohol! Remus!" Patton tried to spit it out.
"I'm sure it'll be...fine." Patton turned around. His father stood in the doorway.
"Patton, inside. Now." His father dragged him inside. "You are to never see him again. In fact say goodbye because you won't ever see him again when I'm through with him." His father stormed off.
"Wow, he's really pissed." Remus walked, no wait that wasn't Remus. Patton gasped. That must be Remuss brother. "What did you do?"
"I'm his son, and he's pissed because of my friend." Patton gestured at the door and that's when Remus walked through it.
"Oh hell no, remus what did you do now!" The kid screamed. "Ruining another good students reputation are we? And not just any student but the principals kid! Seriously!?"
"Leave it be Roman..." Remus shook his head. "It's not like anyways, Patton actually likes my company....he's my boyfriend."
"That's not okay remus!" Roman shouted. "You aren't supposed to be getting into any sort of relationship with anyone-."
"Remus, we aren't-."
"YOU ARE WHAT!" Patton froze. His father came running over and dragged Patton away from Remus and Roman. He dragged Patton into his office and glared at him. "I WILL NOT TOLERATE YOU SWEARING OR DRINKING EVER AGAIN! AND YOUR GAY TOO!?" His father started ranting and Patton started to cry. "He's no longer going to be here anyways, I kicked him out his parents are on the way to get him, he's a bad influence on you and you are to never see him again you hear me!" His father glared when Patton did nothing but sit there and cry. He didn't even get the chance to actually come out as gay to his own father because of Remus...but he really did care about him. How could his father do this! Patton wiped his face as his father continued to rant. He'll never see Remus again. He'll never swear again...and he will never drink again. That he promises.
"Here Patton, if you drink this entire thing I'll let you go back to the others." The door opened and Remus handed Patton a bottle. Patton immediately shook his head.
"You know I promised, you know I will never drink that." He glared at Remus. "Nice try."
"Fine, stay here forever." Remus left the drink and walked away slamming the door closed again. Patton started to cry. It was his fault his dad sent Remus away. He glared at the drink. Roman would probably hate him if he drank that. Patton bit his lip. He wanted to get back to the others but he didn't want to risk his health to do it...but it was the only way. Patton drank the entire bottle. It felt like forever later, remus opened the door. Patton's vision was blurry and he was feeling hot.
"Hmm hi remus." Patton chuckled. Remus smirked.
"Someone really doesn't know how to hold his liquor." Remus carried Patton out of the closet and into his room. Patton shook his head.
"Back..." Remus laughed.
"Maybe later Patton, wouldn't want my brother to see you like this now would you? Go to sleep." Remus walked out of the room closing the door. Patton curled up in a ball and started to cry, suddenly sobering up. He wanted to go back to Roman. Why did he break yet another promise he made to his dad? He was such a horrible person. Patton closed his eyes and held tightly to the blankets around him. Just let this nightmare be over with.

But the angry ghost trapped inside the blade has other ideas. Buckle up for the brutal LitRPG ride of a lifetime Savage Hunters is an alternate-world neolothic fantasy. Characters grow their powers with explicit stat blocks presented right in the text, including levels, attribute scores, and unlockable skill trees. Experience is accumulated by battling enormous monsters the size of buildings. Political intrigue and romance elements ramp up as the series progresses. I originally wrote this story after playing Monster Hunter with my niece. She was 12 at the time, already an avid reader, and wanted to read my other published books. I'm a licensed psychotherapist specializing in severe trauma so I tend toward darker fiction. I told her my usual books are too brutal for her but I'd write her something special. The result was this series, which has been praised by both teens and adults for its depth and universal appeal. It begins with an emphasis on cultural elements because I consulted with a trained anthropologist to craft this neolithic setting down to exacting social detail. After these opening chapters, it rapidly shifts to an action-packed adventure. The first 3 books are fully written as of November 2020, totalling approximately 69 chapters. The first book has been professionally edited already. The following two books require some editing which I'll do on a chapter-by-chapter basis as releases progress. I welcome reviews and comments. Writing is a passion, and reader engagement makes my labor all the sweeter.
