Harold Schultz is a young substitute teacher making just enough money to pay rent and fuel his gaming hobby. When the highly anticipated upcoming video game Kingdom Shattered announces a raffle to decide invites to private beta testing not only the game, but also the next generation of full immersion gear, he immediately applies and ends up winning a slot to become a beta tester. Leaving his apartment and part-time teaching behind he heads to the game company's headquarters where the entire event will be broadcast live, with each player earning money off of the amount of viewers they are able to obtain while alive. With his eyes on the giant cash bonus, Harold is determined to do everything he can to make it to the end and walk away with the grand prize.
