《Dr Luthor - Supergirl AU》Damaged

"Extreme internal bleeding. Broken ribs. Fractured clavicle. Damaged T2 and T3." I read out the list of injuries my girlfriend had sustained on the medical report Alex wrote up. "Mine just says 'Cracked ribs and external bruises'." I didn't realise that I wasn't the only one listening to me talk to myself.
"I really got the bad end of the accident, didn't I?" I looked down and saw Kara's eyes glazed over with pain. It took me a minute to realise that she was awake. I pulled up a chair next to the bed and watched as she came back down to earth and blinked several times before turning her head slightly and looking at me.
"Hey, Danvers." I grabbed her hand and squeezed. She squeezed back but didn't answer for a while. I looked down with disappointment.
"That's what Maggie calls Alex." She was speaking slowly but I was just happy she was speaking at all.
"I guess you will need a new nickname."
"How about clumsy. I seem to always be the one hurt in this relationship, your nickname should be Supergirl, not me. Why did I get called Supergirl?"
"You are fearless. You saved me multiple times but I have never done anything to save you. I am useless, I do nothing for society except being a target for my mother."
"Maybe you could join me in my fight for justice and help me take her down. If I do recover." She coughed a few times and settled.
"You will. Alex should be back soon and she can do some checks." Her eyes became dark and looked clouded by some sort of emotional pain that I had never seen on her.
"I could hear and feel everything during the surgery. I was awake the whole time." My stomach leapt into my throat. If she was awake, that meant she could feel as I was holding her heart, pumping the blood around her body manually. "You did save me, Lena Luthor. Thank you."

"Does that mean we're square?"
"I guess so."
Kara's POV
It had been a month since the accident and things were going well. Everything had healed up nicely and today, I was allowed to stand for the first time after the crash. I sat in my bed, looking at the ceiling and waiting for someone to come in. Luckily for me, that person was Alex.
"Time to get moving, sis."
"Great," I said sarcastically. I sat up with a groan and pulled the sheets off my body, revealing that I had bled through a few dressings. Alex rolled her eyes and ran to me, pulling up my gown. I yelped when she ripped the dirty bandages off. She grabbed some fresh ones out of the pocket of her lab coat and carefully covered my cuts back up. "Your hands are cold."
"Do you want me to heat my hands next time I need to redress your wounds?"
"Maybe." We laughed and I sat up more so I wasn't leaning against the pillow. "Where's Lena?"
"She is on her way. She said she should be here before we start. Just relax until then."
"I just want to get up and moving."
"Trust me, I understand. As soon as Lena gets here, we can begin, okay?" Alex and I both jumped when the door swung open and Lena barged through the door, running to my side.
"Is everything okay?" She cupped my face in her right hand and put the other around my torso.
"Yeah, Alex said I am allowed to get out of this God-awful bed today. I thought you knew that. I have been talking about it for days now."
"Oh, I forgot. Sorry."
"It's fine." I nodded at Alex, who stood and brought a wheelchair over.
"Okay. What I want you to do, Kara, is just to try and stand. Lena will be there to grab you if you fall and I have this here just in case." She said, gesturing to the chair. Lena put an arm around me for support and told me to just go for it. I puffed out my cheeks and blew out a puff of air to prepare myself as I allowed all of my weight to fall on my legs. I let out a scream of agony when pain shot up my legs and ricocheted throughout my entire body.
