《Edge of Glory | Supergirl 1》Chapter 38

Katie watched as Siobhan was prodded with needles in the medical room, her gaze turned to Kara, "What is she? Do you think she could be a mutant?"
"I don't know." Kara shrugs, "She's definitely not a Fort Rozz escapee. Trust me. We checked."
"And you're sure you don't recognize her from Krypton?" Katie questions.
"No. But it was a big place. We didn't all know each other."
Katie pushed her hair from her face, "She fell four stories, Kara. There's not a scratch on her. The only other person I know capable of that is you and Leah."
Kara sighs, walking off, "Well, maybe she should be National City's new hero."
"Kara, I know that winning the people back hasn't been going well-"
"I have tried everything I can think of. Last night I helped a family assemble their IKEA table. It's still not enough. One mistake. That's all it took to just erase all the good I did before."
Katie adjusts her glasses, "You were poisoned, it wasn't your fault."
"People don't know that. All they know is that this symbol doesn't mean what it used to anymore."
Katie's head turned when she saw a woman approaching them, "Dr. Hamilton, how is Siobhan? How did she survive her belly flop on the sidewalk?"
"She emitted a high-frequency sound wave so powerful, it literally cushioned her fall and pulverized the cement."
"So you're saying that my-" Katie stammered, "Siobhan is an alien?"
"Nope." Dr. Hamilton shook her head, "DNA analysis confirms she is a human. And before you can ask, she's not a mutant either."
"So how does she have this power?" Kara questions, wanting to know as well.
"Do you believe in miracles?"
Siobhan heard everything, looking at them, "So none of you know what's wrong with me? Thanks for nothing." Katie sighs, chasing after her, "That was such a waste of time."
"Hey, at least you're not an alien or a mutant." Katie chuckles, "Not that they are bad. I know a few aliens and a mutant and I like them-"
"You said these people could help me. And speaking of aliens, since when do you know Supergirl?"
Katie opened her mouth, "I-I would have told you."
"When?"
"I don't know." Katie shrugs, "Maybe if we would have gone on an actual date."
"I'm scared, Katie," Siobhan admits.
Katie walks forward, grabbing Siobhan in her hands, "I know, I know. I'm sorry. We're gonna figure this out. Together. All right? No one here is abandoning you, Siobhan, including me." Katie stepped back when Siobhan grabbed her head and groaned, "Hey, hey, easy. Are you alright?"
"I need to go."
Katie looked at her, "Okay, let's get you back to Dr. Hamilton."
Siobhan pushed past her, "I said I need to go."
🔥~🔥~🔥~🔥~🔥
Katie smiled, talking with one of her coworkers as she waited for her copies to print, she glanced back to see Siobhan enter the office, "Hey. Um... What are you doing here? Uh, gentle reminder, you were banned from the building. If Cat sees you she's gonna call security. Or worse, she's gonna get a restraining order. That's like her favorite thing to get people." Siobhan slams her arm into Katie's shoulder, forcing her to fall to the ground. Katie got up quickly, running over to Kara.

"Ker-rah, call security. I haven't seen eyes that crazy since I had fondue with Ramona Singer."
"Siobhan, I'm sorry, you can't be here."
"You ruined my life, Kara Danvers."
Katie saw that she was about to release a scream and ran over to Kara, pushing her out of the blast. Katie was thrown out of the window, she was too disoriented to fly.
"Katie!" Kara and Winn cry out, watching as their friend plummeted down. Kara couldn't be Supergirl at the moment. Something snatched Katie, dashing far out away from the city.
Katie blinked as she wobbled, her eyes twisted around to see where she was. "You're on fire!" The man went to pat it out, but since it was over her breasts he retracted, "I... Nope. I'm..." Katie glanced down, patting the flames out, "You don't seem that bothered by the fact that you're on fire."
"I didn't need you to save me." Katie breathed out, noticing her glasses had fallen off her face.
The man chuckles as if Katie was joking, "You just fell from a skyscraper. So if I hadn't been there, you would have gone splat."
Katie's brain wracked back and forth, remembering Siobhan, "I have to get back to the city."
"Okay." Katie lit her clothes on fire, flying off, "What the what... That's a new one. I thought I was the impossible." As Katie flew, she looked down in confusion when she saw a flash of lightening following below her. She landed down, looking as he stopped in front of her, "How did you do that?"
"I'm Solar Flare."
"You're who now?"
"Sorry, I was just a little... ...disoriented from the scream." Katie rubbed her eat, squinting up at him, "How did you save me?"
"Well, I... You fell out a window and I caught you and ran you all the way out here. Which I did not mean to do but I've been working on my speed and... Guess I'm faster than I thought."
"Yes, but I..." Katie exhales, "Who are you?"
He kind of gave her a small smile, thinking she was kidding, "I'm The Flash."
Katie rose an eyebrow, "The who now?"
"The..." He paused, looking at her through his mask, "Wait, do you not know who I am?"
"Should I?"
"What about the Green Arrow? Black Canary? Firestorm? Atom? Zoom?" Each one received a no from her.
"Sorry."
"Oh, boy. Not as sorry as I am." He pulled his mask off, revealing an attractive man underneath, "Hey, I'm Barry Allen I'm the fastest man alive. Also, think I am on the wrong Earth. I'm gonna need your help."
"Oh..." Katie looked at him funny, "That's... new."
🌩~🔥~🌩~🔥~🌩
Katie had dressed back in her normal clothes, she texted Kara automatically when she re-entered CatCo. She allowed Barry to follow her inside, she made sure to bring him to the 'secret office'. She paced behind him as she typed at the computer, "So what do you mean, you're from another Earth? What, how many other Earths are there other than this one?" Katie put her hands on the back of the chair, "I mean, we're Earth. I don't understand what..."
Barry leaned back in the chair, "You guys have Central City but you don't have S.T.A.R. Labs. No Cisco Ramon, no Harrison Wells, no Caitlin Snow, no Emily Smoak. I mean, Jackie's a singer here, so that fun. But that means there is nobody who's gonna be able to help me get back home." Katie recognized Harrison Wells but decided to keep her mouth shut since he was currently deceased.

Katie turned her head when Kara, James, and Winn came rushing in the room, "Hey! Are you all right?"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. What happened to Siobhan?" Katie asks, her eyes glancing back to Barry for a second.
"Oh, well, after she went all Mariah Carey on you, she just split."
"Oh, so we both have Mariah Carey. That's something." Barry stands up, moving next to Katie, he finally noticed Kara and tilted his head.
"Who are you?"
"Hey, sorry, I'm Barry Allen." He pointed to Kara, "You look exactly like... She even dyed her hair blonde recently."
"James Olsen." He pointed to Katie's brother, "And this is Winn."
"I'm Kara Danvers."
"So... doppelgangers can have different names," Barry mutters under his breath.
Katie clapped her hands together, "Uh, you guys..." She chuckles nervously, "I'm not quite sure how to tell you this. Well, I do know how to tell you, I just..."
Kara clears her throat, "Katie."
"Yeah, right, sorry. Uh, Barry..." Katie points at him as he awkwardly stands there, "...is from another universe."
"Cool!" Kara exclaims.
Winn laughs, "Whoa! Whoa! So the-the theory of the multiverse, that's true?"
"True." Barry nods, "Oh, yeah. Big time."
"Wow, I can't even believe it." Kara grins, "And I'm from another planet."
Barry twists his head her way, "What?"
Katie smiles at him, nodding, "Oh, yeah. She's an alien."
"You're an alien?" Barry's eyes widen.
"Yeah."
"So, do you have, like, other aliens on this Earth?"
James scrunched his features together, "What do you mean 'this Earth'?"
"Uh... Ah, hold on. All right, so, Imagine there are multiple versions of Earth." Katie glanced at Kara and Winn who we jumping with excitement, "Um, one where the Nazis won World War II. One where Kennedy was never assassinated."
"Oh, yeah." Winn pops in, "One where all of us are evil."
Barry turned to him, "Been there. It sucks." He faced the board again, "So all of these Earths occupy the same place in space, but they vibrate at a different frequency so they can't see one another."
Katie grins, understanding him, "Yeah, but it's like if you can go fast enough, then it's possible to open, like, a breach, and then travel between worlds."
Barry smiles down at her, "Yeah."
James rose an eyebrow, his arms crossing over his chest, "But how can you travel that fast?"
"Uh, well, um..." He flashed right out of the room, coming back in, all of them suddenly having ice cream cones.
Kara cries out in happiness, "Yes!"
"Yeah, so, um, I was struck by lightning the same night a particle accelerator exploded. And I became a superhero."
Kara giggles, licking her ice cream, James looked at her, then back at him stammering, "So you're a superhero too?"
Barry nods, "Mm-hmm."
"That's cool, I guess."
Winn raised his hand as if he was asking for permission to speak with Barry, "Okay. So you can just like, just bop back and forth between universes?"
"Uh, no actually. This happened by accident. I have traveled through time before by accident."
"That's cool." Winn looks at James, eating his ice cream, "I wish Leah were here to see this."
"I've never jumped parallel dimensions without meaning to. So until I can figure this out, I'm stuck here."
Kara walked closer to him, "Well, don't worry. Don't worry at all because we're gonna help you." She put her hand on his shoulder, making him jump, he saw her as Emily, plus she head strength, "I'm sorry."
"It's okay." Barry looked back at them, "First things first, food. I have to consume about 10,000 calories a day."
Katie laughed, pointing at Kara, "Oh, yeah. You definitely met the right girl." James twisted his head at her in annoyance.
Kara grinned widely, "Do you like donuts?"
"Who doesn't like donuts?"
"I know a place."
"All right. Yeah." Barry waves at the rest of them, "See you."
"Hmm." Katie grinned, looking at James, Winn having the same smug smile on his face.
"What's so funny?"
"Oh, I don't know. Just, uh, seeing the way you look at Kara when she talks to her cool, new time-traveling, superhuman friend." Katie answers dramatically.
Winn pointed to his face, "I didn't know your face muscles could make that look."
"Oh, there's, there's no look."
Kara ran back in, "Katie, wanna come? I think you deserve a donut."
"Yeah." Katie followed Kara out, smiling when Barry waved at her.
Kara skipped over to her desk, "Just one more thing I've got to get and then we can-"
"Kathy. You're alive."
Katie turned her head toward Cat, walking into her office, Barry, and Kara in toll, "Ms. Grant, don't worry, I was rescued-"
"Stop stating the obvious. You're in the middle of breaking news and I want you to act like it. And yes, yes, another one of my ex-employees went all revengey. And yes, that employee was your girlfriend. But... There's a new superhero in National City." She turned her computer screen to them, Winn and James walking into the room, "This is huge. Direct competition for Supergirl, Solar Flare, and Captain Marvel."
Katie looked at her, "He doesn't have to be competition."
"Would you prefer Side-kick?"
"No, not a sidekick." James and Winn shook their head to him, trying to get Barry to stop, "More like an equal. Or an ally. Even a partner, maybe... Speaking was the wrong choice. I see that now."
"All five of you standing there doing nothing, you look like the attractive yet non-threatening, racially diverse cast of a CW show." Cat's eyes slowly go to Barry, "Who are you?"
"Um, he's my cousin."
"My cousin."
"My cousin." Katie rolled her eyes when all of them answered at the same time.
"No. My name's Barry Allen. I'm not actually anybody's cousin. Uh, we're just such good friends."
"Yeah." Kara agrees, "It just feels like we're family sometimes."
"Uh-huh." Cat rose an eyebrow to them, "Well, I need a clear picture of this speedster. James, that's on you. And Kathy, there are a lot of people who wanna know what happened. Speak to no one. You're mine. I will let you know when you should reveal this exclusive information. Now, I have to name this hero. I was thinking about The Whoosh or The Red Streak or The Blur."
Barry kept shaking his head no as she said all of the names, he stepped forward with a smile, "What about The Flash? I'm just saying, I think that's a pretty cool superhero name. Right?"
"The Flash?" Cat questions, not amused, "Sounds like someone whose only superpower is jumping out of an alley in a trench coat. No, I want mystery, I want intrigue, I want The Blur. Ker-rah stay, the rest go."

Even though it was your work that brought the child to this world but you will never know the end of that child. Even if you're the one who teaches him, molds him and make his personality but that child will still learn some things on his own. That child will still form his own personality and thoughts. And if that burns down your house and family, while you are left blinded by your house’s guardian snake, the outlook becomes grim. So Senka clings to her dog’s back to survive, unaware of the fateful prophecy and the great changes to come. Are they mere puppets of a young, beguiling witch guided by her own hidden motives, or are forgotten shadows rising again from the immeasurable depths of time? A tale of folk fairytales and myths, of swords and sorcery and mythical beings – a unique story of dark times and unsung heroes who may light your way. Book one, A Strange Bunch, features leading characters of various ages. This is a fantasy with their progression happening slowly throughout the series, with occasional spikes in character power after certain encounters that may or may not be random. Although the book series is written with adult and young adult audiences in mind, it is, in the tradition of such epics as “The Lord of the Rings,” suitable for all ages. Excerpt from the scene depicted on the cover of the first book: “Above this hellish pack and the rider at the forefront, flurried a ghastly sight – a cloud of dark, endlessly bustling bodies and wings, a swarm of creatures that, through their almost infinite number, produced that great din which had first reached the ears…” RELEASE SCHEDULE is about once a week. The entire series should take around two and a half years of weekly chapter episodes, so do encourage me by reacting and following. Ratings are greatly appreciated!
