《Supergirl》Chapter 22

"Will you be my girlfriend?" Jake asked and I stared at him shocked. He sat there waiting for my answer as I stared at him. "You don't have to answer right now. You're under a lot of pressure with Johnny finding out your secret and moving to Gotham."
Really I didn't like dating someone unless it was serious. After I had broken up with Aaron I was scared of dating another guy.
"I'll have to think about it. After Aaron I am a little careful about dating." I answered sincerely and he nodded his head getting up.
"I understand." he replied swiftly walking out. He probably didn't like my answer and it made me feel like a moron. I threw on a sweater and Uggs. Grabbing my phone I walked out the door for a late night walk. The walk was meant to clear my head.
Walking the gloomy streets of Gotham I examined my surroundings. Trying to make up a decision for Jake's question. I had no such luck walking down the empty streets.
I heard heavy footsteps behind me. A police officer wasn't far behind the running man. The man pushed me over unexpectedly and shot the police officer injuring him. Looking in the man's hands I saw a bag which was probably why he was being chased.
I took action by grabbing his feet tripping him. Using my super hearing to see if anyone else was near incase I use my powers I heard footsteps right behind us. I quickly stood up and turned my neck to see NightWing coming toward the man
All the sudden I heard a gunshot and noticed he had pointed the gun at my gut. For show I fell to my knees so no one would see that I wasn't affected. I heard NightWing scream my name and the man ran off satisfied. I prayed NightWing wouldn't come help me, but I knew deep down he would.

"Chris! Chris!" NightWing yelled running up to me. He removed my hands from where I got shot and sat there mouth agape and stunned. "There isn't a mark on you."
I looked down to only see a hole in the sweater where the bullet hit. Then he smiled at me and I looked at him confused.
"I knew it!" He yelled jumping up. "You're Supergirl." he answered and now it was my turn to look stunned.
"How did you know?" I asked accusingly standing up to match his height.
"You dropped some hints every now and then. Also with a little back ground work it all added up. Especially when you told me you told the guy you liked that you couldn't be with him." he said raising an eyebrow.
"How would me telling you that add up to anything?" I questioned.
"Because at the Wayne Ball you told me you were seeing someone else." he answered in a "duh" tone.
"Oh." I mumbled not knowing what to do next, but then it hit me. He said because I told him at the Wayne Ball that I was seeing someone else. Rick is NightWing.
My eyes went wide in surprise and he then noticed what he said.
"I can't believe your NightWing!" I screamed and he clamped a hand over my mouth pushing me to the side of the street against the wall.
"You can't tell anyone." he stated quietly to me.
"Same goes for you." I snapped back and he nodded. "I still can't believe it." I whispered and he laughed at me. "Take off your mask." I whispered and he slowly obliged. I don't understand how I didn't see it before?
"What's so hard to believe?" He asked and I shook my head.
"It's nothing."

"C'mon." he pleaded and I sighed.
"I had the dilemma that I liked two guys, only to find out tonight that they're the same person."
After saying that all these emotions came upon me. I wanted to slap and kiss him at the same time. Awkwardly he grabbed my hand, but with Jake waiting for an answer I couldn't.
"You better go catch that bandit." I whispered and he looked down.
"Right. See ya tonight Supergirl." I smiled and he took off pushing buttons on his watch. About 20 seconds later when he was half way down the street his motorcycle drove by and smoothly hopped on it riding away. I quickly called an ambulance for the injured cop. The bullet just grazed him, but it looked painful.
I walked home keeping my hand over the rip in my sweater from the bullet. I knew my answer to Jake, but the hard part was gonna be telling him. As I got closer to my house the one thing on my mind was. What is my dad gonna say?
*****
"Hey honey where've you been?" My dad asked as I walked into the house. I looked at my phone to see I've been gone for an hour.
"Went for a walk." I answered quickly as my mom walked up to me.
"Is it because if Jake?" She asked and I nodded. "Did you say yes?"
"I didn't answer him yet, but I think I'm going to say no." I replied waiting for them to say something. When they said nothing I raised my eyebrows, but my dad spoke up.
"WHAT! Why not?" He yelled surprised at me. I looked at my mother for help because she already knew why. She just pursed her lips and walked away.
"Dad, at school I met a guy and I think I might like him-"
"Oh a kid at school is keeping you from Jake." my dad interrupted. I forgot how much my dad likes Jake.
"You didn't let me finish. Also as Supergirl I met NightWing and I kinda like him too." I said wincing at what he was gonna say.
"NightWing as in Batman's sidekick?" He whispered raising an eyebrow. I shook my head and he exhaled. "What's the name of the kid from school?"
"Richard Grayson." I answered and his eyes went wide.
"O-Oh."
"Don't worry I actually found out tonight on my walk." I said.
"Does he know about you?" My dad questioned.
"When he saw me get shot and then noticed no bullet wound it kinda gave it away." I said removing my hand from the rip.
"So you like them or... him." he said through gritted teeth and I nodded my head. His phone rang and he looked at it and ignored it as it kept ringing.
"Aren't you gonna answer that?" I asked and he grabbed it roughly.
"What!" He hissed at the person on the other end. That meant it was Bruce Wayne. If Rick was NightWing that meant Bruce must be Batman. It all made sense now. Why my dad hated Bruce Wayne.
My dad kept bantering on the phone when I heard Bruce yell.
"I didn't even know you had a daughter!"
Rick must've told him. I waited till they were done and my dad hung up.
"He wants to meet tomorrow and talk." my dad said putting his phone down. I looked at him surprised because my dad and Bruce together was a recipe for disaster.

8 160Immovable Mage
What do you call a mage incapable of casting spells? In this story, we usually call him Terry. When the boy is accepted into Arcana Academy, his talent in the pillars of mana foundation awes everyone. All the bigger is the eventual disappointment when Terry turns out to be an utter failure at spellwork. Diagnosis? Major aspect impairment. No cure. Ever. Faced with expulsion, Terry is blessed with the unexpected kindness of others. Terry loses his spot in the Academy but in exchange, he finds a home with a family. Terry starts to train as a pure mana cultivator but never stops looking for his own path as a mage – day after day, season after season, always searching for compatible spellwork… Until finally, Terry’s perseverance earns him a single spell – the only spell he will ever be able to cast. Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030 Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: scheduled for publishing. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: scheduled for publishing. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: first draft in progress. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretic Style: sketching in progress. Heroes aren’t to be trusted. They aren’t to be revered, or to be praised. They are to be feared, no matter the good they do, or the justice they seem to embody. Because it’s all a lie, a fabrication to make you believe that Heroes exist. Heroes don’t exist, only humans. And there is no scarier monster than a human with a ‘link’. Yet, what happens when someone tries to be a hero? A real, true hero—fighting to protect the world from those of their own who wantonly dominate and rule? Can a world, betrayed so thoroughly, ever truly want to be saved? This is a Superhero Fantasy story, set in a world that fears those called Linked. This story is also reminiscent of others in the genre like Worm by Wildblow.
8 114Anathema of the Eldritch
The youth of a fool ends shortly with a burst of light and a pressing question. The powers in the wider world are constantly moving, keeping a delicate balance held only by the continuous bloodshed of the enemy. They are shunned for the experiments of their pears, banished from their homes for being gifted the 'wrong' talent, and hunted for practicing that which made them outlaws. In this age, the Anathema of the Eldritch shall be made.
