《Supergirl》Chapter 16

It was Monday night. I didn't want to look like I was trying to look nice so I just wore jeans and a pull-over sweater. I left my hair to its natural black waves and threw on some converse. Yeah...I looked like a slob.
Aaron said he would be here at 6:00, but that obviously meant 6:15. He was always late. I looked at the clock and sure enough it was 6:11.
The door bell rang and I ran down stairs to get it before my parents. I didn't want them seeing Aaron.
"I got it! I got it!" I yelled pulling the front door open and then quickly closing it.
"Hi." I greeted to Aaron giving no emotion.
"Hey!" He slurs... wait oh no! He's drunk, of course he's drunk.
"Aaron, you're drunk." I stated grabbing his arm and leading him to his car.
"No I'm not! Now shut up and get in!" He yelled pushing me away and messily pointing to the passenger seat.
"O-ok." I stutter. I so hope we don't get into an accident. I slowly got into the passenger seat with Aaron telling me to hurry up. We drove for about 5 minutes before I got a text.
Dillon: Hey are you busy tonight?
I so wish I wasn't!
Chris: Yeah I'm going out sorry.
Dillon: May I ask with who?
Dillon is so funny. He always wants to know what I'm doing. To most it might come across as prying, but I knew it was just curiosity. Although I think it's kinda sweet.
Chris: Well I'm going on a date with my ex-boyfriend Aaron. We're going to the little diner by the mall. I forget the name.
Dillon: What? Why would you go out with him???
Chris: I don't want to! I sorta have to. Do you think you can come get me? ( he's sorta drunk )
Dillon: Of course! I'll come to the diner now!
I smiled at how much Dillon cares. I must look like an idiot smiling down at my phone.
"What are you smiling about?" Aaron asked harshly as we came to a stop at... oh Wimpy's Diner.
"Nothing. It's nothing." I answered knowing he can't find out.
"Let me see!" He yelled grabbing my phone and looking at it. "Who is Dillon? Are you cheating on me?"
"We're not even dating!" I yelled knowing that, that was probably too harsh for his liking. All the sudden he slaps me. It stung for like 2 seconds and then I felt nothing I flinched a little, but then I just looked at him.
"Get out. Get out!" He screamed flailing his arms. I opened the door and got out, and of course it started to rain as he drove away. He was so drunk. I started to walk when I car drove up to me and stopped.

"Need a ride?" I look down to see Dillon in the drivers seat. I smiled and got in the passenger side.
"Thank you so much Dillon." I said smiling and he smiled in return.
"So why is he so mean to you?" Dillon asked me taking me by surprise. "You don't have to answer that." he quickly added.
"No, you deserve to know. Especially because you just picked me up." I answered laughing lightly.
"He has never been the same since his dad died and he was left to his step mom. He never knew his real mother because she died at child birth, but he was so close to his dad. They did everything together." I paused taking a breath. "He hated his step mom. She was mean to him, blaming him for his dad's death because he was driving the car when the accident happened. He's never been the same since."
"Wow." Dillon said speechless. "That must be hard. I really have no idea how that feels because I have both my parents."
I looked out my window and saw we weren't going to my house.
"This isn't the way to my house." I said worried.
"We're not going to your house. You were supposed to have a date and I'm going to give you one." he said smiling.
"Well then, where are we going." I questioned looking at him, but his eyes were still on the road.
"I was thinking we could go bowling."
"Sure." I answered smiling, but really I can't bowl. Last time I went bowling I was ten. We went with my best friend Jake. That day I was losing so I threw it so hard it left a dent in the wall and we had to tell Jake why the ball left the ground and hit the wall two lanes down. I was so lucky the place was empty at that moment.
Jake moved when I was thirteen and I had a HUGE crush on him. Still sorta do, although I have no idea where he moved.
"We're here." Dillon said as we parked at the bowling alley. When we got inside it was pretty full, but there was still lanes open. We got our shoes and went to a lane.
As always I did terrible and Dillon was amazing. That kid is good at like everything.
"Do you want to play again?" Dillon asked smiling.
"Why not lose again." I answered Dillon was fun to play with. On one of his turns he ran up did a back flip and got a strike. Show off. Pretty much everyone in the room started clapping. I honestly didn't know that was possible.

"I'm gonna use the washroom I'll be right back." he said walking away and flicking his blonde hair out of his gray eyes. I set up our second game and took my first turn knocking all the pins down in two turns. I took a seat waiting for him.
"Hey my name's Will." a guy with brown hair said. He was tall with short brown hair. He had bright blue eyes and tan skin. He was wearing a gray shirt and a leather jacket.
"Hey I'm Chris." I said smiling.
"I'll just tell you why I'm here. My friends just dared me to kiss you." he said motioning to a group of guys. They were whispering amongst themselves laughing.
"I see." I answered looking back at him.
"It would be quick." he tried to reason sitting down beside me.
"How do I know you're telling the truth?" I questioned not knowing if I should trust this guy
"I wouldn't do this if I didn't have to. Mostly because I have a girlfriend." his phone dinged and he looked down and turned back and looked at the guys shaking his head.
"What did they say?" I asked.
"They texted me saying, uh, 'Tick tock, tick tock'" he answered nervously.
"Fine." I blurted out. "Now we should act like I don't know it was a dare, okay?"
"Okay." he said and we both leaned in smiling. Our lips touched for like 3 seconds and I pulled away. He got up and walked away. "Bye." I said waving pretending that I actually liked the kiss.
(When you re-read your own book and cringe so hard at a pointless scene. I'd just like to apologize to all of my readers.)
"Did you just kiss that guy?" I hear Dillon ask. I look at him to see a look of hurt across his face.
"It was a dare." I said brushing it off. "It really didn't mean anything." I added trying to lighten the mood.
"It's fine really. Now let's play our second game. Ready to lose?" Dillon said shrugging it off.
"Is that a challenge?"
"Only if you want it to be." he answered smartly. I ended up winning by five points, but I rubbed those five points in his face. "Okay I get it you won." Dillon said obviously annoyed by my bragging.
"And don't you forget it." I added smiling at his annoyed look.
"Let's get you home." he said grabbing my hand and pulling us out before I could brag some more. As we walked out he didn't let go of my hand and I just looked down at our interlocked fingers. "I'm sorry." he said when he saw me looking at our hands. He let go of my hand, but I just grabbed his again.
"It's fine." I replied smiling and he smiled a genuine smile in return.
We got to his car and our hands parted. He drove me home in silence and while we were driving we passed the roof where me and NightWing go every night 11:30-12:00.
I looked at the clock and it said 11:34. On the roof top stood NightWing with his legs over the side and his head down. Every now and then his body would shake which only meant one thing.
NightWing was crying.
"Are you okay?" Dillon asked when he noticed the sad expression on my face.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine." I answered trying my best to plaster a smile on my face. There is no way NightWing is crying because of me, right?
"Hey are you doing okay? Liz said you didn't come to school today because you were sick."
"Oh, yeah, I just threw up once and then I was fine." I lied giving him a small smile. Today I had asked my mom to stay home, but she insisted on a explanation why. I told her everything and asked her not to tell dad. She promised then called in sick for work and watched movies with me all day. My mom was awesome like that.
I hadn't noticed that we had come to a stop at my house until Dillon put his hand on mine. "Are you sure your okay?"
"Yes." I whispered looking at him. We stared for awhile before he mustered.
"Your so beautiful." I blushed at his words and undid my seatbelt.
"Thank you so much Dillon for everything." I said kissing him on the cheek. I got out and went to my front door. I waved good bye and unlocked the door going inside.
"How did it go honey?" My mom asked when I got inside.
"Can we talk about it tomorrow?"
"Sure." she agreed kissing me on the forehead. I went upstairs and stripped off my clothes and went into the shower.
I once heard this saying. Sometimes the right person was there all along, but someone else was just blocking your sight.
I think Dillon was there the whole time, but my sight was just being blocked.

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
