《In His Office》Chapter 24

After I came from a walk, I made myself a breakfast and ate it with mom.She was happy that I was acting normal now but believe me I was having that fake plastic feeling.Putting the smile, just to show others that you were alright was hurting me from inside.
I went to my room and shut the door behind me changing into my real self. The real weak Emily.
Whose heart was aching. Who was feeling lonely. Who had nothing left.
"Emily! Someone is here to see you!", My mom's voice came from downstairs.
I hurriedly got up from my bed and went downstairs. My heart was deep down praying that it must be Zach. But as soon this thought crossed my mind, I scowlded myself.
"Who's there mom?", I asked her
"I don't know. Someone named Derek"
"Oh holy moly shit. What he was doing here?"
"You know him?", she asked.
"He met me today in the park. He is the most stubborn guy I have ever met"
"You started making friends I like it", my mom wiggled her brows.
"Mom its not like that", I groaned.
"Just be careful sweetie. Don't do the same mistake twice. If he is some rich stupid billionaire then no need to-"
"Mom. Just stop it. Its not like that. I don't even know him", i shouted to cut off her ranting.
"Oh", she smiled apologetically. "Nothing like that?", She asked.
"No nothing like that", I groaned and went to see that stupid Derek guy.
I opened the door and there he was standing with a huge grin on his face.
I grimaced at his creepy expression."Are you stalking me??!"
His grin instantly fell down his face. "What? No hello hey? Or I missed you Derek. Thank God you came", he said in a fake girly voice.

I covered my amused expression under a scowl." What do you want?"
"Can I come in?", He asked trying to look in.
"No", I came infront of the door covering the doorway and blocking his view.
"Emily! Its not the way to talk to your guests", mom scowlded me from inside and soon she appeared behind me.
"So your name is Emily? Lovely name", he winked me.
I groaned.
"Come in", mom welcomed him.
"Mom we can't just bring strangers to our home!", I said in disbelief.
"I believe he is not a stranger. Look he is such a gentleman", mom pointed to him.
"Mom!!", I groaned and Derek smirked.
"Come in", She completely ignored me.
Despite my sheer protest this Derek guy was sitting in my house. On our couch watching TV and eating popcorns in my damn favourite bowl. And I was sulking in the corner.
"We should go and eat ice cream Emily. What you say?", He asked me.
I tried to open my mouth to deny but no my mom had to say something.
"Yeah thats a great idea.", her eyes twinkled.
"I am not going anywhere with him", I wrinkled my nose to show disgust.
"You are going and thats final!", She said in her finality tone.
I tried to say something but her one dangerous look shut my mouth.
"Okay", I huffed
"Yay", Derek shouted.
Then we went out to eat ice cream. And all the way We were bickering like stupid 11 year old kids.
We were eating ice cream in peace when he decided to open his big mouth.
"Why you hate me?", He asked becoming serious all of a sudden.
Then I realized for the first time that I was being a bitch to him.

"Its not that I hate you. You just pop from nowhere in my life in wrong time. "
"I just want us to be friends. Nothing more. I never stalk someone like that before. I don't know why but I saw something in you. I want to be your friend", he tried to explain.
He continued. "I know its creepy to pop up from nowhere and ask to be friends"
"Friends?" , He asked extending his hand with a hopeful grin on his face like a kid making new friends in school.
I smiled and shook his hand.
"Friends"
He smiled and shouted in excitement. "One more treat"
**************
"So why you were in foul mood in morning?", He asked me
So now after being friends and eating ice cream treats, we are in my TV lounge watching a movie.
"I had a fresh breakup"
"Oh", just this word escaped his mouth.
"Men are all the same" , I exclaimed grudgingly.
"Who told you to try them all?", he joked.
I gave him a look-There's a time to joke-
"Jokes apart. You know what Emily?", He asked
"What?"
"Love is like a fart. If you have to force it , it's probably a shit"
"Ugh Derek! I thought you were going to give me some kind of advice. You know something that will make me feel better! But no I am stupid to expect that from you!", I was already in a bad situation and he was making it more worse by his lame jokes.
I saw his expression and realized that I was being a bitch. He was just trying to cheer my mood.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to shout at you", I apologized.
"It's okay", he smiled "I can understand your situation"
He asked me to told him my story from start. How we met and how our relationship advanced? And most importantly How we end up here?
"You should have listen to him. Maybe that was not his fault. He told you that he was drunk", he reasoned.
"I don't know what to do?", I confessed. " You know what sucks?", I asked him.
"What?"
"Realizing that everything you believe in , is complete and utter bullshit"
"Do you still love him?", He asked suddenly.
" I am mad at myself , not him.
I am mad at getting attached with him.
I am mad for thinking about him.
But most of all I am mad at myself for not hating him , when I should"
"It means you still love him", he concluded.
"What would you do if you would be in my place?", I asked him
"You know if I were a girl and someone breaks my heart. I would have just punched him. Seriously punched him in the face and get some ice cream"
I smiled at his reply. Oh Derek!
After watching a movie , I saw him off at the door. I had fun with him. When my best friends Anna and Allen were busy enjoying and partying somewhere in other town , Derek accompained me and it was enough for me in this situation.
Before leaving my door step he said, "If two people really care about eachother they will always look for a way to make it work no matter how hard it is"
With that he left. Leaving me behind , pondering over what he meant.

The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
