《Cecilia's Wolf {Rewritten}》18 | Cecilia's Wolf

I was sitting in my office after breakfast, organizing the paperwork that Eli and I had been busy with last night when Mason came in. His face was red and he was breathing heavy, like he'd ran here. My mind instantly fired with possibilities of attacks and rogues.

"What's wrong?" I asked immediately, standing up and rounding my desk.

Mason waved me back, taking a deep breath. "It's nothing with the pack, and no one is in danger."

Taking a deep, calming breath, I returned to my seat. "What the hell, Mason? You scared the shit out of me."

"Sorry, I just ran up here after I saw this video. I thought you should see it." He gulped nervously, motioning to the phone in his hands. "Have you talked to Cecilia today?"

I was confused by his abrupt change in the subject. Did he want to talk about Cecilia or the video on his phone? "No, I haven't talked to her yet. She was with her cousin last night and I figured that they'd probably sleep in today. What does that have to do with the video on your phone?"

"I think you should probably just watch it," Mason replied. "It's a little hard to explain."

I was intrigued and motioned for him to hand me the phone. The first thing I noticed was the title of the video he had pulled up. "Sexy bar dance at Fangs." I still didn't understand. Why would I want to see a video of a bar dance at the local vampire club? And what was he doing watching YouTube videos from Fangs?

I hit play and just about saw red. Rafe was ripping at my control, dying to take over and kill something. Our mate, dressed in slutty clothes that showed way too much of her gorgeous body, was on the bar, at a vampire club, dancing her heart out. Xavier and another blonde vampire were pacing her down the bar, trying to talk her into coming down, but she was having none of it.

She looked like she was smashed and absolutely refused to come off the bar. Xavier lunged for her, but she managed to stumble out of the way, further cementing the fact that she'd been drinking. The blonde vampire came at her from the opposite side and managed to get her over his shoulder. While the crowd booed, he waved them off, saying it was time to get her home.

I had to force myself to release Mason's phone before I crushed it and it landed with a bang on the desk in front of me as a low growl built in my chest.

"Jackson, man, you need to calm down," Mason told me nervously.

I took a breath and tried to put on a 'calm face' so as not to let him know how close to losing it I really was. "Thank you, Mason," I said as evenly as I was able, hardly any growling released with the words. "If you'll excuse me, I need to call my mate."

Mason nodded cautiously and took his phone with him to the door. Turning back, he said, "Don't be too hard on her, Jackson. You could tell she'd had too much to drink. She's not going to be feeling too well this morning."

I growled. A hangover might teach her a lesson about drinking, dancing on bars and going to a vampire club in the first place! Mason left the room silently, only the click of the door shutting indicated that he left.

I grabbed the phone on the desk and angrily punched Cecilia's cell phone number in, agitatedly drumming my fingers on the desk as it rang. And rang. My fists clenched as it seemed that she wasn't going to answer.

And then her sweet voice came across the line, sounding all angelic like she hadn't put herself in mortal danger the night before, gotten drunk and danced on a bar in clothing that revealed far too much.

It was not a pleasant phone call. She defended her actions and completely refused to acknowledge that a vampire club is not a safe place for anyone to be, whether or not they are accompanied by their vampire cousin. When she became angry enough to yell back at me, and tell me that she'd enjoyed herself, I couldn't hold Rafe back any longer.

He broke through my control with a snarl, crushing the phone when he forced a shift in the middle of my office. He was enraged that his mate had shown off her skin to a large and rowdy group of men, not to mention the fact that they were vampires, and that she didn't even have the common sense to admit that what she had done was dangerous and stupid.

He demanded that we go straight to her house and mark her as ours. Show her who she belonged to and then bring her home with us where she could never do something so dangerous and foolish again.

I knew that was beyond a bad idea and forced him towards the woods instead to hunt until his aggression abated. I had never explained the marking process to Cecilia and she definitely would never forgive us if we marked her without her consent. Rafe knew it too, but he was too angry to realize it at the moment.

We would both need some time to calm down before we could have a rational conversation with our mate and convince her that she shouldn't ever do something like that again. We wouldn't be able to handle it if something happened to her and no one should be able to see her in such a revealed state except for us.
