She pinned the saree properly on her shoulder looking at her reflection. It's New Year's eve today and the whole Khurana family wanted them to be with the family to celebrate it as it was Tara's first new year after marriage. She put the veil on her head pinning it properly as well.
She was missing her family so much today. Arjun was out for some work in his office after dropping her here. She took a deep breath walking out of her room to the living room to find the twins fighting again.
She shook her head as Shraddha smiled at Tara before caressing her cheek pulling her attention towards her.
"You look beautiful", Shraddha said before putting a kala Tika behind her ear making her smile cheekily.
"Kenit- Kinshuk enough", Shraddha ordered as they both stopped before glaring daggers at each other.
"What's up Bhabhi", Kinshuk spoke teasingly.
"It seems like ages since we saw you", Kenit spoke wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
"Is this the way to speak to your Bhabhi? Have you ever seen your father speaking like this with me", Shraddha spoke as Kinshuk smiled brightly.
"We are the new generation. She is our best friend before Bhai's wife", Kenit spoke just then they heard the sound of boots. Kenit and Kinshuk looked at each other before removing his hands away from Tara making her raise her eyebrow at them.
Arjun entered inside the house calmly. It seemed like the silence before the storm.
"Kenit", he called as Kinshuk looked at his twin who nodded before walking to his elder brother. Tara looked at Kenit who seemed extremely scared of his brother.
She couldn't help but adore their bond when a gasp left her lips when a sharp thud sound echoed in the silent living room. Her right-hand cupped her lips as she found her husband slapping Kenit.
There was pin-drop silence in the living room as Arjun slapped him again this time on the other cheek making her eyes wide.
"This is why I send you to college", he said calmly slapping Kenit again making him fall on the couch.
"Ji", Tara couldn't help but call. She was about to reach them when Kinshuk held her shaking his head.
"Smoking is what you wanna do. This is how you are going to head the business", Arjun asked again slapping him but Kenit spoke nothing.
"Mummy Ji, please stop him", Tara told Shraddha who didn't move as well.
Just then Anav walked down the stairs looking at his son holding his cheek.
"What happened?", Anav asked Arjun which made him turn to him.
"He is all set to destroy our family's name. He wants to smoke bunking his class", Arjun shouted slapping him again. Anav narrowed his eyes at his son who was getting slapped again and again by his elder brother.
"Enough, Arjun", Aadhish told Anav pulling him away from Kenit.
Arjun huffed clenching his fists before pushing his hair back walking upstairs.
Tara was about to follow him when Aadhish shook his head at her telling her not to go anywhere near to her husband. At least not now.
"Do you want something else to happen? Go to your room", Anav shouted at his son who immediately walked upstairs as Kinshuk followed his twin.
"Go. Your best friend needs you", Shraddha told Tara who nodded before following the twins. She opened the door only to hear sobs making her heart clench.
"You should've thought what you were doing. Here I was thinking you were in the library preparing ahead of the class", Kinshuk spoke rubbing Kenit's back.

Tara sat on the other side of Kenit who was sobbing.
"You also hate me now", Kenit asked suddenly making her look at him.
"Hate is a big word, Kenit. I am surely disappointed in you. I first thought your brother was too harsh on you but after hearing the reason, I completely agree with him. Any brother would react that way if he cares about you", Tara spoke as Kenit sniffed.
"My classmates asked me to try once but then I thought it looked cool", Kenit said as Tara wiped his tears.
"If it was that cool, your brother would've done that as well but he didn't", Tara tried to make him understand as he nodded his head.
"Kenit is addiction is very bad. First, it will start from fun and then it would pull you into the darkness where nobody can help you", Tara explained as Kenit stayed silent. Kinshuk knew that it would be better if he stays silent.
"Kenit, Kinshuk, you both are your brother's pride. You are like his hands without whom he feels incapable", Tara said cupping both of their faces as Kenit looked down while Kinshuk nodded his head.
"Bhai, won't even see my face now", Kenit whispered as Tara smacked his head.
"He is angry, I agree. He is disappointed, I agree but he doesn't hate you. Not till now. Stop this bad habit and see how everything gets better", Tara explained to Kenit who nodded his head.
"Now smile. It's the new year. Do you want to cry the whole year", Tara asked Kenit wiping his tears.
She walked out of the room only to hear Kinshuk call her.
"You are truly the best person for Bhai, Tara", Kinshuk said smiling at her before touching her feet making her jump.
"What are you doing?", she asked him with shock clearly visible on her face.
"I truly respect you a lot as my brother's wife from today", Kinshuk said making Tara narrow her eyes at him.
"You didn't respect me till now", she asked angrily in a playful way as he shook his head making her gasp. He laughed at her making her smile.
"I'll look out for your brother", Tara said only for Kinshuk to stop her.
"Not today please Tara. Bhai is angry. You shouldn't go anywhere near to him", Kinshuk said making Tara frown but she chose to follow his words as he knows his brother more.
They had their dinner but Arjun was nowhere to be found. It made Tara worry about him and the weirdest thing was that nobody dared to even call him as well.
After dinner, she reached her room but he was nowhere there as well.
She paced around the room fidgeting with the end of her saree. She did remove the veil till now.
Her eyes moved to the wall clock. It read 11:00. He didn't leave the house till now, she was sure about it but she had no idea where he was.
He didn't even have food till now.
She thought twice before moving out of the room. She moved to the upper story of the mansion. She heard from Kinshuk that they changed this floor to a gym and office for Arjun.
She was scared. Yes, but she couldn't leave him alone anymore. She saw a heavy metallic door before opening it. She wasn't expecting it to be this heavy. She moved inside only to enter the gym.
It seemed too lavish than any gym, she saw till now. Her ears immediately heard the sound of hitting making her turn to her right to find her husband there punching on the punching bag. His back was still stiff, she could see it as he was shirtless.

Though it affected her right now, he mattered the most to her.
His aggressive punches were affecting her making her feel goosebumps all over her body. She moved towards him standing behind him.
"Ji", she called softly only for his punches to turn more aggressive.
"Go, Tara. Sleep", he growled loudly.
She shivered to hear him. He would always call her baby and it became foreign to hear her name from his mouth.
"But...", the moment she spoke she felt a hold on her wrist as he pulled her in front of him pushing her on the punching bag holding it from back looking at her calmly.
"Can't you understand simple words", he asked dangerously close to her face.
"Please... Please come to the room", she was speaking when he punched on the punching bag again making her close her eyes in fear. After coming back from the dinner, she removed the pins of her saree. With his constant punches on the bag and her jumping in fear, her saree came off from her shoulder. She held it before it uncovered her bosom.
His movement stopped as he looked down at her. Her face was red with embarrassment as she put her saree on her shoulder again in haste which made it slip again making her bite her lower lip in embarrassment. She put it back holding it with her other hand.
"Where is your veil?", he asked realizing that he came up without it.
"I was worried for...", she was speaking when he held her elbow pulling her closer to him making her gasp putting her hands on his bicep to stop herself from going any further near to him.
"Go back to our room", he ordered as she shook her head looking like a scared cat in his arms. Her hair once in the bun came down as the grip of the clutch loosened. Everything was going against her at the moment.
"You come as well", she whispered looking at his bare chest with red cheeks before looking another side.
"Tara, I am trying my level best to not hurt you. Go", he whispered pushing her away from him before punching again. She could see his knuckles were red probably a few cuts as well making her do the first thing in her mind which was really not the best idea.
The new moment his fists landed on her delicate palm making her shout in pain. His eyes widen as he held her hands immediately inspecting her palms as tears fall down her cheek.
"Have you lost it, Tara", he shouted making her cry more loudly. He sighed before pulling her in his arms as she cried like a baby while massaging her palms. He is very well known that the blow was very hard for her to take. Her body is so delicate. He is always scared to hold her fearing that he will break her and now this happens.
"Shh.. enough. We'll go to our room and put ointment on your palm and everything would be fine", he made her understand like a little baby before lifting her up as she hid her face in his chest crying rivers.
He remembered the time her finger came in between the door. She didn't even cry this much that time as well. He could only imagine how much it would be paining her.
He walked out of the gym carefully walking downstairs not to hurt her anymore as she sobbed on his shoulder. He reached to his room opening the door before closing it with his legs. He made her sit on the bed before sitting on his knees on the floor checking her left palm which was always pale with a tint of red but now because of cold it was all pale almost looking milky white with the blue tints of his blow evident as she hiccuped looking at her palms.
He looked up at her with sadness wiping her tears as she bit her lower lip to control her sobs. He knew she was trying her level best to not cry but she wasn't able to help it.
"Is it paining too much?", he asked as she looked in his eyes and as if all the barriers were removed between them, she cried freely as she cried in front of her mother knowing she would not judge her.
"My baby", he cooed hugging her immediately making her sit in his lap as she cried wrapping her arms around his neck hiding her face in his neck. He could feel the warm tears falling on his neck making his heart clench.
He rubbed her back till the point, she calmed herself.
"I'll get the ointment, okay?", he told her making her sit on the bed as she nodded timidly. Her eyes were on her palm which was all blue.
He went to the closet and came back with the ointment in his hands. He sat beside her before taking her palms in his. She was biting her lower lip trying to stop the wince.
He touched her lower lip shaking his head at her silently asking him to not bite her lips. She sniffed as he massaged the ointment on her skin.
"You have to eat", she said in a hoarse voice.
"I had food in the gym only", he answered truthfully in a soft voice.
He made her lie on the bed after asking her to change. She rested her head on his chest as asked by him closing her eyes.
"You were very harsh on Kenit", she suddenly made him stop massaging her palm. She could feel the stiffness in his body. She turned on her stomach looking down at him as he looked back at her pushing her hair away from her face. Even in darkness, he could feel her eyes on his shoulder. She still couldn't look into his eyes.
"He was crying", she spoke softly as he looked calmly at her.
"I am scared of your calm, Ji", she said truthfully as he cupped her face.
"I would never hurt you not knowingly", he told her making her sigh.
"But I think you should speak to Kenit", she said making him hum.
"Only when he is ready to face me", he told her making her nod. He knew his younger brother wasn't ready to face him till now and he shouldn't be as well because his anger was still there.
If it wasn't for Tara's injury, he would've stayed in the gym for the night.
"Baby?", he called making her hum as she snuggled more in his warmth.
"Do you hate me for behaving that way with Kenit", he asked making her frown.
"Ji, Hate is a big word. I respect you for the fact that you are so caring for your brothers. You make sure they are on the right track but again slapping him once or twice was fine but I guess it was just too much", she said in a daze.
"I do respect Kenit for the way, he stayed silent in front of you knowing that he was wrong. He silently took whatever punishment you gave him without saying anything", she spoke but he didn't answer anything. He kissed her forehead before massaging her palm again not wanting her to feel pain the next morning. He heard from Roshni that wounds hurt more in winters.

8 450Memoirs of A Healer/Clinical Social Worker: Autobiography of Bruce Whealton
A loving spouse. A healer. How does this person cope with evil villains willing to destroy everything? They convicted the victim... now how does the victim goes on with life as a healer? As the book opens, I was in a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt in December 2019. What starts as a simple conversation with another patient changed my life. Most of the rest of the book tells the reader how I got to this point. I experienced profound injustice between 2004 and 2006. By opening with a story about suicide, I want the reader to understand that the injustice was not just something that happened long ago. This book is an account of all the accomplishments and successes that I had in overcoming tremendous odds and challenges. Growing up, I was paralyzed by shyness and lacked social skills, and so the idea of becoming a psychotherapist never occurred to me when I went off to college. I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
